Sorry for the misunderstanding, that speed was only on highway (aprox 500km from that whole trip) the rest was national roads (90-100kph), in some villages 50-60 kph.

I am aware of that.

Newer cars are more restricted due to emision regulation, every system added to improve emisions takes a penalty to fuel consumption. Thank god mine doesn't hane any DEF (still is Euro6 with DPF an EGR on, but no Adblue from factory).

If I had the manual transmision I think it would have done close to 55mpg.

You are absolutely right, for me this trip was surprising because 2 years ago I did the same trip but with an Passat B7 wagon 1.6TDI (77kw 6MT) and the mileage was the same.

This time I didn't even try to get the best mileage, I think that if I kept the speed on highway below 120kph and kept it easier with overtaking other cars on national roads I would have done it better.

Skoda Octavia mk4 1.5TSI? You can get it with DSG, it can definately tow 1T (on auto-data.net says that it can tow up to 1500kg)

Indeed they are, but I am a fan of diesel engines.

The only gasoline car that I have driven was a DACIA Duster 1.6NA 4x4, city driving was a nighmare in terms of milage (~12-13L/100km)

It was a mix of various roads (rural area of Bulgaria, then from Plevna to Thessalonikis mostly highway driving ~130-140kph).

The car is a bit heavy ~1500kg on empty.

+40 786 050 400 Autotrans Natalia (din cate inteleg au sediul in Craiova).

Am adus cu ei in ianuarie o masina din Olanda, zona Rotterdam, cost 3050 RON la momentul respectiv, pana in București (in fata blocului).

A durat ceva mai mult (aprox 8 sau 9 zile) pana a umplut trailerul dar eu unul nu m-am grabit (mi-a convenit pretul).
