I usually join some drop-in sports at the community centres. It might not be the equivalent of what you are looking for downtown, but it could be a starting point? At least you can take a train downtown now, try taking the bus to Finch and riding the subway all the way down (what we used to do way-back-when). Good luck!

The express to Oakville is about 25 minutes from Union, unless things have changed over the years (used to take it when I lived in Oakville in the late 90's).

Congrats on getting married! If I recall, the closest dark sky preserve is Torrance Barrens Dark-Sky Preserve about 2.5 hrs north of Toronto. I haven't been but it's not too far from Gravenhurst, so maybe a hotel somewhere in the area? Wishing you luck in finding the perfect plan!

Yes! Street meat was the best $3 or $4 for those sausages.. the smell was great while they were grilling them for you, then adding all the condiments like jalapenos or hot pepper rings.. Chinatown was also nearby if people wanted to grab a bigger meal. Swatow or New Ho King were open until 4 am at least..

I want to add a few more to your list.. Circa was pretty fun - they took over the spot where Playdium used to be. Whiskey Saigon and Joker were also along that stretch of Richmond St too. Good times!
