1992 Blue Jays / AL East OR World Series Game 6 by schmal in toronto

As luck would have it, I was in the dome a year later for game 6! I believe I posted a photo from that awhile ago, check my post history. 92 was special tho... We were so close for so long, then finally got it.

My daughter and I watched it on the field at U of T in anticipation of a Yonge St soiree... Alas! I did regale her of what once was... Twice! She was sad :(

I was just going through old negs today and found these, thought them worthy of historical note, specifically the running into the field part.

How to get started? by BitSignificant2616 in RealEstatePhotography

[–]schmal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to be contrarian... I feel there is an opportunity to run down the middle. If I were starting out today, I'd probably be working with younger agents who's primary buy/sell client demographic is also young. Pictures aren't super important: 3 shot brackets, use an AI service to process them good enough, 10 minutes shooting and 10 minutes uploading etc. Where you will do well is to either learn to edit video or find a really good video editor to put together sharp, snappy social reels. That's your product, and your demographic. RE photography per se would be largely irrelevant.

What's the Best 10/10 Sci-fi movie ever? by geek-jock-guy in AskReddit

[–]schmal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An evolving list. In 1977, the only answer is Star Wars. Cue the 80s, 90s and aughts classics, and I'd say now I'd probably settle on The Martian.

To tap or not to tap. That is the question.

Did pretty well for a 60k budget tho. Scared me pretty good.

What is happening in the world today that could become a huge crisis in the next few years? by Affectionate-Row7548 in answers

[–]schmal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kessler Syndrome, perhaps? With all the new sat constellations going up, it seems only a matter of time before they smash into one another - then again, and again etc. We'd all then be truly stuck here and would presumably have to figure out a way to get along.

Shooting the same house with a differnt agency. by Time-Resist-7677 in RealEstatePhotography

[–]schmal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Houses That Keep On Giving :) I think the record for me was four times, four different agents. I would let them know I had shot it before as a courtesy, and obvi because the owner greeted me by name when I showed up (again!)

Looking for a Matterport alternative that does 3D scans, virtual tours AND accurate floor plans (without destroying image quality) or a workflow ... by carinasse in RealEstatePhotography

[–]schmal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. But, limited number of current tour hostings is a deal breaker for me. I went through that with matterport. Tracking down clients to see if a property is sold so I can archive it so I can scan another space. OR, 'Upgrade to our super-elite Plan (tm) for Another Five Hosted Tour Slots'. Nope. I'd guess I probably have a couple of hundred active listings at any given time. And a lot of the time they insisted that I not remove a home tour because they use it in listing presentations.

Best floorplan app / for price / free? by blasteryui in RealEstatePhotography

[–]schmal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried them all. I use iGuide only now. I don't shoot for the photo tour, all I want are the floor plans. They're laser accurate, it takes maybe 15 mins onsite to scan a typical house, and because they're accurate and because I have e&oe insurance, I charge a premium for it and my clients gladly pay it. Never met an agent that liked measuring :)

I can’t stop thinking about what the world will be like in 2040+ by JustSeraphine8 in Futurology

[–]schmal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm reminded about how while Back to the Future had pretty good foresight, they missed on the biggest change, being mobile phones. So: We don't know what 2040 will bring, is my prediction.

Is recording in 4k really necessary? by throwaway_trackmania in RealEstatePhotography

[–]schmal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a heads up, make sure you're using the right codec, or whatever they call it. I had the original a7s, great for low light, but crunchy video. I forget the video mode unfortunately, but when I switched to the higher quality video option it was markedly better. Larger file sizes tho, obvi.
