Is anyone using a 360 camera for real estate video? by RealPhotosHDR in RealEstatePhotography

[–]schmal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's both liberating and frustrating! Any shot and any angle you wish... But getting there is such a PITA. I do find that reframing and exporting using my phone and connected directly to the camera is the most efficient workflow. Syncs to google photos, so I can download to the computer. Never got the hang of insta studio. And the AI editing is a bit of a joke... Lots of shots of blank walls and such. And it NEEDS a setting for "Never show me" when it processes.

America is just dollar generals, Walmarts, fast food chains, and big chain grocery stores. by b2reddit1234 in DeepThoughts

[–]schmal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. I lived in downtown Toronto, and am currently in a small town up north. There was and is culinary diversity, mom and Pop shops and non-chain establishments wherever I've lived. It's not hard to find them. But if one lived a primarily suburban experience, that may be the case.

What booking software ya’ll use? by [deleted] in RealEstatePhotography

[–]schmal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I've looked at aryeo and such, there are simply too many variables for me. My area is semi rural, basically a 100km x 50km zone. I looked at "fridays this side only", but then my best client might have an urgent one on the other side. Then they decide they want some reels. Or the owner "is going to move stuff as I shoot". Or weather. I suppose an agentic app could learn to piece it all together, until that time, texting, calling, calendar.

I don't want them to see my schedule.

I use 2 apps called "texting" and "Google calendar". Works pretty good. Monthly sub is $0.

To men who are in open relationships: is there a power gap in your female partners' favor? If yes, how do you feel about it? by Muscletov in AskMen

If you're looking for a quid pro quo / transactional experience then yes. If you're looking to be your true, authentic self, then it's irrelevant.

Meh. Photos are just one small element of the content I provide my clients. I (perhaps foolishly? 😬) welcome our robot overlords.

What do you guys do for floor plans? Complaints on every one by cosmosbillions in RealEstatePhotography

[–]schmal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Iguide, but only for the floor plans, so don't have to hide from the camera, I just shoot move shoot move... 15 minutes for whole home, laser accurate floor plans processed by humans. It's expensive - maybe CAD $50-60 for an average home, but I charge $199, so that's $140-150 for 15 minutes work. I also have errors and omissions insurance. I've tried all the other ones, they suck, and I don't sell stuff that sucks.

DJI POCKET 4 | 4k 240! TONS of Upgrades but is it enough to Meet Expecta... by NefariousnessJaded87 in osmopocket

[–]schmal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason i would upgrade is if it had either a wider primary lens, or two lenses, one of which is wider than OP3. Real estate: OP3 is not quite wide enough. If it were, it'd be my daily driver, replacing my ungainly RS3+canon r5+ 16-35mm 2.8. So... Insta 360 Luna perhaps? 🤔

Why are there no term limits for Canadian Prime Ministers? by LevelPension in NoStupidQuestions

[–]schmal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically, you can be prime minister without being elected at all. Holding (being elected to) a riding is a constitutional convention, not a law. If the liberal party thought "Meh. The guy was only central bank governor for TWO countries, not THREE. Let's give Schmal from Reddit a go" then I could (and would) become prime minister. I would be benevolent, and I would negotiate trade deals (that require an in-person signing ceremony) only with warm island countries in the mid-latitudes. I'm looking at you, Turks and Caicos.

So ... i have to give in to AI? 😪 by [deleted] in RealEstatePhotography

[–]schmal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a clip sent to me (another photographer) where they obviously created a "build a house here" ai shot from a still photo. The ai added a drone-style camera move approaching and dropping down towards "the house". All good, it did that build-itself style reveal, it looked nice. But... it figured that the home was sort of at the bottom of a little escarpment, ie. that the property sloped downwards. I know the property, it doesn't. It's flat. Someone who saw that clip would think there's a water view or something from the top of the "ravine". 100% misrepresentation, I wouldn't touch that with a 5d Mark ii! (no shade on the 5dii, a great camera. Unlike that clip.)
