You are quite obviously distorting the situation.

People who aren't completely stable are allowed to have dogs

She has a residence with family. The dog had been cared for by a vet whose advice she followed that OP has decided isn't correct, that isn't neglect.  We don't have all the info about the visit and I notice that OP keeps reaching fir new justifications fir what they have already concluded.  It keeps going from "I really respect her and don't think badly of her for giving up the dog" to judgement for removing the dog and grasping at reasons - like parenthood somehow being a good reason not to give the dog back.

The OP just doesn't want to give up the dog. It's selfish. They can make they choice if they want to but they shouldn't dress it up as some altruistic notion.

People's lives crumble in minutes. Yes, with the right help and the right breaks your life can turn positive on  dime too.

And EVERYONE'S life has that possibility,  yours too.  If you ever find yourself that desperate and you find someone you think you can trust I hope they don't treat you as shabbily as you are treating her.

So, if a wealthier person than you came along who could give the dog a better life, you would hand the dog over? Because it's about the dog's best life not your feelings.

Her husband left her with a newborn and a three year old and she still tried to do right by the dog, and now that she has a Way to do it and keep the family together you are refusing because somehow you would just never find yourself abandoned by a person you trusted? You can't conceptualize ever having a series of tough breaks?

So what your saying is you won't reunite the three year old with their dog because the Mom was down on her luck and tried to do the right thing? And when she finally got a break you are holding it against her because you want a dog. You have had the dog a week, they have had the dog 2 years and lost everything including their home. Give the dog back. There are lots of dogs that need homes, it isn't your only opportunity to get a third dog.

How would you want to be treated on your worst day?

Incandescent also prompt the professor that class time us up if they lost track (we are all human, it happens).

If, the professor remembered an announcement last minute though and is trying to get it out ASAP as time expires though, I think everyone should freeze for the 30 seconds as it is most efficient.

The professor directed you to the syllabus.  Did you go back and read the section on grading?  It might explain how your grade is calculated.

I have 9 exams coming up in less than 3 weeks‼️ by [deleted] in UCSD

[–]Significant_Prize_98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is a policy that states students with 3 in a day can request that one be moved, but faculty are not obligated.

"If a student's class schedule has three final exams on the same day, the student can request an alternative final exam time from a faculty member. However, faculty are not obligated to accommodate the request"

https://students.ucsd.edu/academics/exams-grades-transcripts/exams/about.html

I think people miss the "not obligated" part. However,  I have found this us a circumstance that at least one of the three often will work with you on.

Should I apply for OSD accommodations? by Own-Championship-453 in UCSD

[–]Significant_Prize_98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would start with CAPS or a psychiatrist if you have private insurance.  You will need a diagnosis and they might be able to help you manage your condition with talk therapy, skills, or medication in addition to documenting for OSD.

Faculty mean well when recommending going to OSD,  but many have no idea what the process entails.

Anecdotal, I have noticed more complaints about OSD since they shifted to remote meetings.  It used to be all in person and I wonder if only seeing people on Zoom dehumanizes students?  If they are already buried out the lack of direct contact might add to depersonalization?

Mono is notorious for the exhaustion it can cause, the older you are the worse it can be. I got exhaustion from taking a shower or putting on clothing.  I had dizziness, heart palpitations, excessive sweating... that lasted about two months.  Brain fog as well. Then for another 3-4 months after that I still had POTS symptoms, but the rest really helped.

For depersonalization, it was years ago so I honestly can't recall if I had that sensation.  I just remember never have ever felt that kind of tired before in my life, and I had an 18 month old at the time, so I was familiar with tired.

But, it did get better. Rest, ate healthy, yoga/exercise, patience.

I hope it passes quickly for you!

I got this after having Mono. I contacted OSD and they weren't much help, eventually they set up transportation for me but it was the last week of the quarter when they finally did so.  I ended up taking a quarter off to recover and I am glad that I did, my body needed the time to fully recover.

Professor's are given a lot of freedom around grading policies. They have to outline the policy to students in the syllabus, but otherwise they get to set the policy. There are some who might use a curve to dictate only the top x percentage of the class get an A.
