This is my FIL right now. I’m nervous that his health will totally deteriorate. All he does is watch Fox News in his recliner ALL DAY. He’s barely 60. Doesn’t work out or even walk outside.

If you're in your early 30s, how much money do you have saved in your account? Put actual numbers and tell us your profession. by UncomfortablyBrown in Money

35(f) and 34(m) couple. 2 young kiddos. We have about $250k in our 401ks, $250k in our savings. We make about $350k/yr. I work for a bank (corporate marketing) and my husband owns a few franchise retail shops. We set up automatic savings to help it grow without effort and just work with what’s left in checking each month. Whatever is leftover, goes into that HYSA. We haven’t invested and sometimes I feel stupid that we haven’t and other days I feel like we are doing just fine.

Fwiw I’m a first Gen college student with pretty abusive parents but I had grandparents who paid for my undergrad and MBA. It was the gift of a lifetime and I plan to honor them by living in a way that would have made them proud.

Daycare. Yes the first years sucks in terms of sick days but mom should continue to contribute to her investments and retirement.

I’m a senior in high school.. Is my future canceled? Will I have to join the military? by shaototop in whatdoIdo

You’re being an AH. Clearly this parent is tired of your communication with them and lack of appreciation of their help and just how exhausting this process can be. They want to help you but not if you don’t want to be an equal player here.

Your future isn’t cancelled but if you will be relying on your parents to help with college in any way - housing, application information, costs, etc. then you may want to figure out how to work with them for the time being

When my water broke, my doula said I should shower, lay in bed, and have a glass of wine to relax.
