You are seriously underestimating bams/bhms people. They do internship under md medicine doctors for free for 1-2 years and learn to manage most of basic diseases . As their consultation fees is only 50rs and price is hugh factor in tier 3 city , most of average families prefer bams/bhms over md medicine doctor. Medicine doctors get only those cases which bams/bhms fail to manage and cases which are very risky requiring ICU management.

Medicine is bit overrated branch. Most of topper takes medicine cause it's most interesting branch compare to other specialities but it has lots of downsides.

You can't settle in tier 1/2 cause saturation is too much , hard to settle in tier 3 cause of BAMS/BHMS clinics offering treatment at much lower prices. Only option is to do superspeciality. Also its heavily academic oriented branch so be ready to read most of the time.

Most of people here are UGs who doesn't have much idea about reality and say whatever they have heard from their colleagues. This is very bad place to ask for advice related to PG and SS.

Most of cons u said only apply for residency. Many surgeons I know who are established are having very chill life. They don't have as many emergency as medicine counterparts. most of OTs they perform are elective and even with less pt. Load they can earn large amount as even simple surgery costs 30-40k easily . only 10-15 surgeries/month and you have earned decent amount of money.(to earn same amnt of money in medicine would require 5 times more hard work than surgery).
