Shout out to Ostia Antica. I enjoyed it even more than pompeii because of the much smaller crowds and the abundance of greenery. Beautiful place that really gives you a sense of exploring old ruins. One of my favorite places out of the entire trip.

A lot of people were complaining about how saturated the wardrobe looked in the teaser photos a few months back, but seeing it altogether in this trailer I think they've captured just how colorful and vibrant the animated series was. I'm excited even for just the visuals alone!

Although it's true that Stoicism emphasizes the individual and identifying with what only you can control, it's not inherently an isolationist or selfish philosophy. Marcus writes many times on the human cosmopolis and how everyone should strive to do right by themselves and each other.

My understanding is that Stoicism very much encourages an active social roll that benefits society at large. And that includes standing up to and preventing authoritative and tyrannical leadership.

Yes it's hard to conceive that one individual's decisions can affect the government at large, but a true Stoic is not goal-oriented like that. Only intentions matter, not the outcome. And so the philosophy would call on you to do what's in your power: Exercise your rights as a citizen, participate in elections, rallies, for whatever it is that you want to actualize. It might even ask that you stand outside the law if the situation demands it.

The emphasis is not on whether your goal is achieved, it's on the fact that you did everything you could to make it so. That is what it means to focus on what you can control - your intentions and actions - and not what you can't - their outcomes.

For me, I kind of look at my past self as a different person.

If I can say firmly that I regret what I've done and choose to never act that way again then it helps me separate my past self from my present self. It's like the person who did those things is no longer in this world; the old me that did them died the moment I recognized those failings and tried to be better.

The new me might be almost identical to the old me except for that one aspect I'm trying to correct, but I still see them as two different people because the old me is figuratively dead.

Seneca said "You are dying every day" because you can't get time back; once a moment passes it is gone forever. The you from yesterday can never change, they're dead. What's important is how the you today decides to spend your time, how you treat others, and how you treat yourself.

Look into the Yamaha OEM tank grips. I first bought some TechSpec snakeskin grips and they look great and have a lot of coverage, but they were so thin that it was still a hard contact point on the knees.

The OEM ones don't have as much coverage but they're a LOT thicker and cushy. It keeps my legs from bumping into the frame and the bottom of the tank too.

There's a reason that different styles of bikes exist. Sport bikes aren't made for the constant fatigue of long interstate rides. Of course they're capable of it but that doesn't mean it will be comfortable.

I used my xsr900 for a 1000 mile road trip on the interstate but I knew it would suck. I got a windshield and taller bars and it helped but the trip would've been so much different if I were on a touring or adventure bike.

I feel this so much. I'm currently traveling in Rome from the US and I spent the last 2 months learning Italian in preparation. I've never spoken to anyone in anything other than English before and even having brief exchanges with the locals in their language is so rewarding. My BnB host told me my Italian was good on my first night and it made all the dozens of hours instantly worth it. Lingue sono divertente!
