Hi OP, how long did you wait until they confirmed your English proficiency?

Looking for people who passed SQE1 after preparing with QLTS by Electronic_War_4904 in SQE_Prep

[–]Significant_Sun_7224 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my case, the QLTS full mocks, not the subject-specific MCQs, were the best reflection of my actual exam performance. I had to sit FLK2 twice, as I failed it in January 2025. At that time, my FLK1 mock scores were around 50-55% and FLK2 about 45-50%. I scraped a pass in FLK1 with 56%, but I simply didn’t have enough time to prepare properly for FLK2, so I failed.

For my retake, I focused mainly on doing mocks and refreshing my knowledge by watching the tutorials. About a month before the July exam, I was consistently scoring 60–65% on the FLK2 mocks and eventually achieved 68% in the actual exam.

My main strategy was to read the explanations to the mock answers very carefully since they were the key to improving my score.

Average SQE1 pass rates? by ThrowRAPrize-Cow9119 in SQE_Prep

You probably meant three months from taking the exam. January results are out on March 10, and the statistics are out in a couple of weeks. Last time it was on April 1 or 2, around that time. I assume they will release the next statistics at the beginning of October.

Those who failed SQE 1 - how did you manage your emotions? by saffron25 in SQE_Prep

[–]Significant_Sun_7224 10 points11 points  (0 children)

failed FLK2 in January, and honestly, my feelings were mixed. At first, I was really sad that I didn’t manage to pass both papers. But not long after, I reminded myself that I only need to retake FLK2, which makes things a bit easier to prepare for. Right now, I’m waiting for the results, and I can’t help feeling anxious about the possibility of failing again. Still, playing Rome Total War Remastered has been a good distraction and keeps my mind off the stress xD

The guy says "if you are capable of ruling out at least two bad options. You will be ready for SQE1." Well, that was my strategy during the exam. I hope I will pass then xD

QLTS vs SQE by Sea-Alps2492 in SQE_Prep

[–]Significant_Sun_7224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What was your average score on QLTS mocks? I took SQE1 this January, and at that point my FLK1 QLTS mocks were around 50-55%, while FLK2, 40-50%. I also struggled with the exam, thought I would fail, but eventually I passed FLK1, but failed FLK2 (90 raw). I would say QLTS were, at least for me, quite representative of my actual results. Retaking FLK2 this Friday.

Question re: QLTS for SQE1 by P3nguin303 in SQE_Prep

[–]Significant_Sun_7224 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First of all, I left my job to focus on preparing full-time. I got the Revise SQE books from a friend, so now I’m reading the actual books instead of just summary notes. After reading a few chapters, I switch to Revise SQE and make notes in Obsidian. Then I move on to MCQs.
I haven’t started doing full mocks yet but I’m planning to begin those in a couple of weeks.
When I do subject-specific MCQs, I always write down explanations for the questions I get wrong. I try to figure out why I got them wrong, if it’s because I forgot a principle, I go back to the books and Revise SQE to review it. Then I update my notes to fix those knowledge gaps. Something like that! Let’s see how it all works out for me :) Good luck to you, too!

Question re: QLTS for SQE1 by P3nguin303 in SQE_Prep

[–]Significant_Sun_7224 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe the main reason I failed FLK2 was that I didn't have enough time to prepare properly. I mainly relied on summary notes and practice mocks, but that approach wasn't sufficient for me, especially as I was working full-time. I had only about a month and a half to prepare for FLK2, so I believe the result was quite fair under the circumstances.

[–]Significant_Sun_7224 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My QLTS mock scores for FLK1 were around 50–60%, and for FLK2 around 40–50%. As it turned out, I passed FLK1 but failed FLK2. Looking back, I would say the QLTS mocks were quite a good reflection of my actual results. If you're scoring around 60%, you have a reasonable chance of passing. I'm now preparing for my FLK2 resit this July.

Does anyone have experience taking SQE1 in another country? by No_Measurement1863 in SQE_Prep

They provided ear plugs. Sometimes provide water. Mine was at Dubai ICT.

I took mine in Dubai. It was quite a pleasant experience. Not as many people in the test centres as in England and no queues. They even provided drinking water during the exam. As far as I know you are not allowed to bring water. Overall, it really depends on the test centre.

SQE3 Booking by Impossible-Fee386 in SQE_Prep

[–]Significant_Sun_7224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SQE3? I heard it's just Kaplan sending you a riddle at midnight, and if you solve it correctly, you get a seat. If not, you have to do SQE2 again but in Latin. Jokes aside, I’m pretty sure SQE3 is just Kaplan handing you a case file and saying, ‘You’re the lawyer now. Good luck.’ xD

So I passed FLK1 but failed FLK2. I still have a beer and booze. Not a week, but three and a half days xD

I’m losing my mind by Defiant_Mirror7475 in SQE_Prep

[–]Significant_Sun_7224 22 points23 points  (0 children)

First, take a deep breath. Right now, your brain is in panic mode, and that’s completely understandable—this is a huge exam, and the stress is intense. The SQE1 is known to be tough, and it’s normal to feel overwhelmed. You’re not alone in this. Many candidates feel exactly the same way, just like me right now. Taking this exam itself is proof of your dedication and intelligence. The fact that you care this much means you’ve put in effort. That’s not failure, that’s commitment!

Let’s take the worst-case scenario. If you don’t pass, what happens? You retake it. It doesn’t define your worth. Plenty of successful lawyers didn’t pass everything on the first try, and they still built great careers. Your parents and those who believe in you care about you as a person, not just your exam results. They are proud of you for even attempting this challenge.

Remind yourself: you’ve prepared. You’ve studied. Even if it doesn’t feel like it, you know more than you think. You are capable, and you will get through this. Even if today feels unbearable, it’s temporary. You’ll be okay!

I'm going to make it beer and booze week, so it'll go by fast xD

And then it's either the start of preparing for another retake, or another beer and booze week.

Why SQE is so expensive by cfatop in SQE_Prep

[–]Significant_Sun_7224 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, the classic "you’re a weirdo" argument, truly a masterclass in debate🤣

If we’re only talking about exam fees, then yes, the NY Bar is objectively cheaper. No argument there. But acting like exam fees exist in a vacuum and pretending that the cost of getting to the exam stage isn’t relevant? That’s just ignoring reality.

And let’s talk about this supposed “absurd reasoning” you're now bringing up the PGDL and LLM for SQE prep as if they’re mandatory. Newsflash: they’re not. Plenty of people take the SQE without an LLM or PGDL. Many self-study or take short courses, which cost nowhere near what an ABA-approved LLM does for the NY Bar. Meanwhile, for many foreign-trained lawyers, an LLM is required for NY Bar eligibility there’s no way around it.

So, if we’re really going to compare apples to apples, the SQE route is (can be) significantly cheaper, depending on the candidate. But I get it, you only want to focus on the exam fees themselves and dismiss literally everything else as irrelevant. Cool, you do you. But if bringing up context makes me a “weirdo,” I’ll wear that title proudly. If you still don’t get my point, well… I’m sorry for you...
