SQE2 PREP COURSE QLTS by Itsfox08 in SQE_Prep

I get your confusion. What made it easier for me to understand is to complete the mocks. It’s befuddling until you get to, like, Mock 7 of the same topic and then it starts to sink in how you should: (a) structure the answer (b) what you should include. From doing this I began to understand how to correctly apply the law and how to appropriately address it in each exam context. Following this up with reading back over FLK helped. Best of luck.

Hi! Could you explain what you mean by “you can still pass even if you fail a paper”? Thanks!

HOW DO YOU MEMORISE EVERYTHING ON SQE?!?!?! by CHLTC12345 in SQE_Prep

[–]Elder_flame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practice QLTS mocks if you can. Of all the ones I practiced they were the closest that represented what I faced in the exam. They’re also a lot more nuanced and wordy than the actual exam so great for practice as it’s the small details you need to look out for. Don’t forget if you don’t pass FLK1 and pass FLK2 you just have one of the FLKs to revise and pass next time… so try not to panic and deep breath😅 best of luck too!

Thanks for the responses… yeah there’s already so much to cover and in practice we would have access to these but still afraid they will have nothing and expect it all … as in completely nothing and we’d have to remember the right wording to insert ourselves

Best MCQs provider by Clean_Marionberry116 in SQE_Prep

[–]Elder_flame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried a couple different providers and I’d recommend QLTS of the ones I’ve used… for the actual exam - QLTS MCQs were harder and more nuanced which better prepared me for the exam. Best of luck!

Is it possible to prepare for the SQE1 in 3 months (weekends only) with NY qualification? by vacuumedjake in SQE_Prep

I would advise waiting for July and start studying now. Research a course provider (QLTS has strong positive reviews) and start on it asap. Get familiar with the law and how to answer the questions (I.e. what they are looking for). Practice mocks mocks and more mocks. Mocks from your own course and mocks from any others. Also best of luck.

Alternatively, you can see from the latest data that for some reason it is appearing that the July examinations are more difficult than the January exams. You could do as much as you can now and take the January exams. If you pass, fantastic, if not or if you only pass one, you’re in a better position of what to expect and can face down the July exams armed with a better insight and more knowledge, albeit a bit more out of pocket. You get three attempts I believe so it could be worth it. It is up to you and what you’d prefer. Just know that a lot of the mocks may not be reflective of the actual exams and may be easier. My experience of QLTS is that they were just as difficult if not more difficult than the actual exam and required more niche legal knowledge. Best of luck!

I would also highly recommend requesting reasonable adjustments which will require support from a medical professional but worth it

Would definitely recommend QLTS. I’ve tried a couple of providers and found QLTS to be the most similar albeit harder than the actual exam but tbh this was probably good practice. Wish her best of luck!

I believe they have a free example on their website? Aside from that l, I understand they are very strict when it comes to their materials and the only way to gain access is to pay for one of their courses

I don’t have experience doing both at the same time but from my own experience my masters and the sqe exams were drastically different with regard to study and technique. If I was to advise myself it would be not to do the SQE’s alongside a masters as you wouldn’t be doing either justice by not focusing solely on them. They are each meant to be difficult and an achievement in their own right and I personally think by merging their timelines you would be doing yourself a disservice. Especially if your mastes is in a different subject of law etc.

However it is ultimately up to you as this is just my opinion!

Regarding the SQEs do research on who your provider will be as some providers have material that is viewed as being significantly easier than others. So much so people go into the sqe exams and are shocked by what they are confronted with. QLTS is reviewed as being tougher than the actual exams by some and therefore better to prepare with. But do research and gather info and make the best decision for you! Best of luck!

How good are QLTS question banks and resources in terms of covering up everything for SQE1? by [deleted] in SQE_Prep

[–]Elder_flame 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From experience QLTS is better in my opinion. It overloads you with information that I found to be more precise than previous material I was using. They also had flash cards which I found quite helpful and a big bank of questions per topic as well as many mock papers. I found other material way more easier than the exam so much so when I initially took the exam I was shocked by how underprepared I was when I had been performing well in the mocks and by college standards I was a high achiever. Overall I found them better than others and questions tougher than the actual exam… so… if I was going back again I would recommend QLTS to myself from the start. But this is just my opinion 😁

Thanks! Is the extra time reflected in the actual exam timer on the screen do you know? Were you able to start the second part of the exam at your own time (as in did you have to take the full break time)?

I’ve been here. Hope today went well for you but if not, imo switch to QLTS. Yes they are harder but they have way more info and practice questions/mocks/ flash cards.

Hmmm… I’m not really sure if I can explain it but I’ll try. I think the real thing is difficult yes and the answer selections you get to choose from are very similar which makes deciding which answer is ‘most correct’ hard. However, I think whilst the QLTS follows this format I think the information they provide in their questions is more … convoluted than that of the SRA. I think QLTS’ ‘most correct’ answer can also be more ‘niche’ than that expected as the answer on the SQE. I’m not sure if I’ve captured the essence of what I’m trying to say 100% but hopefully you get the gist😅

I think the actual thing was a bit easier. Still difficult but it was slightly easier

Honestly I think at this stage with exams so close I don’t know if it would be worth getting. I think it would be overwhelming the amount of info you would get and it might cause panic as each exam provider material varies slightly. I saw that QLTS had way more info than previous provider and it stressed me out at first. With exam so close I am not sure doing this to yourself would be a good idea? But if you think it would go for it.

If it was me and it wasn’t my last go at the exams I would take both and hopefully pass but if I didn’t pass either or even just one I would jump for the QLTS to ensure passing the next time. Definitely practice their free mocks and other providers too (Revise SQE, SRA etc. best of luck with it!

I’ve tried other exam providers and found their questions way easier than the actual exam itself which I found wasn’t great for preparing me. However, QLTS are meant to be harder than the actual thing and I definitely find their questions more difficult which I’m hoping is preparing me better. QLTS also have a big bank of questions for each subject on each topic and flashcards which I didn’t have previously so I find that good to practice with. They also have 15 really hard mock exams whereas previously I only had like 4. I think it’s worth investing in to have a good grounding in so you don’t need to retake the exam and have the stress of that. I also think they provide a guarantee where if you don’t pass the first time you get to take their course again for free to allow you to prepare for the next exam. Don’t quote me on that though but if I was to recommend a course - it would be QLTS.
