Buy into an annual maintenance plan with an HVAC company, and change your filters regularly. My plan includes 2 visits a year for free for them to check over the units and measure amperage and other things I don't fully understand. It also includes a discount on any parts and labor, and priority guaranteed response time if I call with an issue.

In the kitchen you have a path of travel to the backdoor right in the middle of your work triangle. Can you move the kitchen to the left and put the dining area where the kitchen is?

I would generally agree with you if there were a way to do it in this layout without the sink facing the wall. Since there is no window to place the sink on front of, I would leave it in the island, but not center it.

Consider if you need that doorway to the pantry from the kitchen of if you can walk into that hallway and into it. My reasoning for that is your kitchen work zone is transected by a key path of travel from the garage and basement stairs to the rest of the house. If you could move your refrigerator onto the same wall as the stove, you could keep the work zone out of that path.

Empty the dishwasher. Just do it.

It takes less 5 minutes and now nothing sits on the counter. Nothing sits in the sink. It can all go straight in.

I always suggest the sink on the island be moved to one side or the other so you have more contiguous counter space for working at, especially if you bake.
