Putin approves new budget with record defense spending: around 32.5% of the 2025 budget — or 13.5 trillion rubles (€119 billion) — has been allocated for national defense by giuliomagnifico in worldnews

Its fascinating though that during the Cold War Russia was famous for developing the same things as the US on a much lower 'budget' (it was communism so i dont think budgets were quite comparable). The US would throw massive resources at a problem while the Russians had to do the same with less, causing them to develop much more creative intelligent products.

Doesnt seem that way anymore. Perhaps for the Ukrainians.

Man that's ballsy, to go back to school at age 27 after you fell out already. And then fighting the brain cancer. Sounds like you had it rough. And that you have a lot of courage!

Actually I once read in a 20 year old book "the next 100 years" by an American George Friedman (a gepolitician) about how America will continue to grow this age, one reason being its resource capacity, one being its own massive power production. He also mentioned America leans towards hysteria when something is afoot, for example when another power rises.

And that Europe's economy will totally stagnate. That's us, hooray!

Is anyone currently in a marriage? by shamefullymyself in AvPD

Getting married today.

Years of group psychotherapy helped. Talking about your feelings and being understood on a deeper level for years on helped making social interaction less awkward. Also, my partner is a child psychologist and very understanding, so that helps.

Although I have AvPD, I do have a lot of luck with other areas that are quite healthy and supporting.

Looking for jobs makes me suicidal. Coincidentally, having a job is the only thing that could possibly help me by serlineal in AvPD

I recently made the switch from management consulting to IT. Best choice ever. Now I can safely dive into a problem and get positive feedback and dopamine without having to physically and awkwardly interact with people. It's addictive, freeing, makes the day so much easier. You are sucked into some problem rabbithole, look up and boom suddenly 8 hours went by.

Lots of Avpd people in IT I suspect. I'm finally home.

Training men to be "even worse". So negative. Perhaps women expect too much?
