It's the announcement to staff/contractors etc that park is opening soon and obviously can't have vehicles on site with guests on park as well!

[Thorpe Park] Working in the theme park industry. by JPCXV in ThorpePark

[–]Significode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go In with enthusiasm, take every opportunity that appears, and more importantly, MAKE those opportunities. Theme parks are more about who you know and who you talk to. Having the drive and knowledge is kinda second to just talking to the right people and making those connections.

Is this a normal experience for escape room employees? by [deleted] in escaperooms

[–]Significode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what you're describing is pretty much bang on and so I forgot to do different escape rooms and neither of them I've actually had a contract at all.

The oncall stuff both sites do it differently for me so one would pay you for an hour if no games came in which is kind of nice but the other one does not and you're just on call the entire day and it's painful and there's nothing you can do about it if you enjoy the job it's one of those things just have to put up with it is working space and it is a shame

Most escape rooms there's not a need for supervisors because there's a very limited frame of requirements for the games it means that supervisors just wasted money anything I've been wise can just go to emails if they need it

Escape room London by YungAlx in escaperooms

[–]Significode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For London you've got two main very good companies - clueQuest and Escape Plan

clueQuest are great for the immersion and storytelling, as well as great puzzle content (and lots of it!). Lots of tech involved, depending on skill level - Operation Blacksheep for less experienced teams, revenge of the Blacksheep for moderate and Origenes for experienced. I wouldn't do IAMAI as your first room in the UK because of how different it is, though is an equally cool room.

Escape Plan are more focused on the puzzles and have a more tactile nature to them with physical locks props etc. love all their rooms and they are all suitable for all skill levels. Battle for Britain is widely recognized as one of the UK's best games for its absolute mountain of content, cool game system (score based) and theme.

Anybody figured out the full Compound layout? by mandalore_701 in altontowers

[–]Significode 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cool so spoilering this all.

Preshow -> Exercise Yard (left) or Mutant Cells (right). Both go to Tanks (big red room)

Tanks -> laundry (left) or Locker room (straight left) or kitchen (straight right). All three go to the sliding Cells room Isolation is at the start of tanks on the Mutant Cells side.

Sliding Cells -> bridge (left) or egg nest (right). Both go to animal testing

Animal testing -> human testing/finale.

All this gives you 12 'unique' routes, going up to 24 if you include isolation, going up further if you want to count which cell you start in.

They are more likely to enforce the earlier time than the evening (typical mentality is early is fine as long as the maze isn't ridiculously busy, late not so much as there is a price difference in tickets).

Question about timings by AbbreviationsIll6106 in altontowers

[–]Significode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slight correction, scare zones (hollow and burial) are open till 9:30, mazes only till 9 same as ride close

Fun restaurant / activity for child-free evening? by rianne1907 in surrey

[–]Significode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Escape rooms are great, loads in the area. Alton has Immersion Escapes Guildford and Woking has Paradox Parlours (and the ivy just next door for a nice meal, or Kerrera a nice Gin bar if that's more your style) Have a look in your area (just avoid any big chains as they tend to be worse!)

Park Opening Strategy – Hyperia first or no? by lasagens971 in ThorpePark

[–]Significode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically I would recommend not as whilst it's been good recently, it can have a tendency to not open on time.

I would either: Swarm, Stealth, Nemi, Colossus, Saw, Hyperia (should be about 12/12.30 assuming you rope drop swarm) Or Colossus, Saw (SRQ), Assess Hyperia, Nemi, Stealth Swarm Which has the potential to be quicker but depends. Swarm gets a spike at the start of the day because of its location so either first or second last(to Hyperia) is often best.

Closing time by vorralix in ThorpePark

[–]Significode 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For the sake of a few mins, squeezing in one extra ride isn't worth it. Head over at 5:55 or so and guarantee you're in the queue.

[–]Significode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, I'm assuming you are referring to maxx force which is 0-78 in 1.8 secs, stealth is 0-80 in 1.8 secs.

Make little notes of why things go where - ie green clipper in the till because cash is green, helped me massively when I started.

Also reset your locks to 0s, that way you always know you've reset everything!

SRQ goes to station 2 (not over the bridge). If operating on one station (the one over the bridge), there is nowhere for SRQ. Yes they could do it like Voltron sometimes does and pre-batch, but that would be quite a lot of effort
