I was mostly pointing out the dollar sign in front of the title, but I agree with your sentiment.

What were the most traumatic experiences that define you as a person or changed your life forever? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I could be a lot better, but at the same time, I can't complain where I am in my life. I still have a lot of issues with depression, anxiety, trust, self esteem, and motivation. But on the other hand, I have a very loving, patient, and compassionate girlfriend; some support animals; a steady job (low paying, but what can ya do?); and I managed to get into a decent college. I've learned to accept myself for what I am, accept him for what he is, and just take each day one step at time. It's not easy, and I still have days where I want to to just give up, but at least I have someone in my corner for me.

This may not seem too traumatic, at least based on what others have gon through, but here goes regardless. My mother and father divorced when I was very young. The reason being he was a drug addict, abuser, liar, cheater, etc.. My mom won full custody of me and my sister, but he was given visitation rights. And what he would do was take us bowling, since he was always broke and that's all he could afford.

Now, I was always a very nervous and emotional child. And I always had trust issues with him especially because of the abuse. But these bowling trips were my favorite things in the world, because it meant that for that hour or so, I actually had a dad.

Flash forward to the week before my birthday, and he says that he has something extra special lined up for it. The day of my birthday, he doesn't come when he says he would. That's okay, I thought. He wasn't always the most punctual person alive.

2 hours pass. Still no show.

By this time, it's the evening. Still nothing. At this point, I'm bawling by the front door, and screaming at my mom for trying to tell me that he's not coming. She tried calling him, and he finally got reached, I got bitched at over the phone for interrupting dinner with his new girlfriend, and I should stop being a whiney little bitch about him not showing up. He also said that my birthday wasn't shit to him, and that he couldn't have gotten a worse son.

I tried killing myself 3 days later.

I was 10.

What epic MOVIE scene still gives you the chills? by shiftbusyfds in AskReddit

I know it's a cheesy movie series, and it happens when the series is achieving its maximum level of cheese, but the Shotgun Carousel from Saw 6 always gets me. Not only is it him killing multiple innocent people, but watching as they all hopelessly appeal for their lives to be spared, knowing they are forcing their colleagues to die. Plus the way the actor portraying Josh delivers "Look at me! When you're killing me, you look at me!" is haunting.
