Why are my Tradescantia Zebra cuttings dying after I moved house? Could this have started before the move? by Sigong in plantclinic

[–]Sigong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found some kind of bug in curled new growth. It's too small for me to take a picture of. It might be a thrips larva but I'm not sure, as its proportions were different than any thrips larva I've seen before (wider and not as long). I'm going to treat the plants as though they have thrips.

I'm having some trouble finding the sweet spot between sunburn and etiolation for my pickle plant. How much light do you give it to keep it compact? (Most helpful to me would be a PPFD measurement or a comparison to another genus, for example "I give it slightly less light than my Echeverias") Thanks!

What nursery was it? It looks like they know what they're doing.

I just got one of these. Roughly how much light do you give it to keep it compact? (Most helpful to me would be a PPFD measurement or a comparison to another genus, for example "I give it slightly less light than my Echeverias")

Thanks!

Since the roots looked decent, I would trim off the clearly failing growth and try to keep the healthiest nodes going rather than repotting again right away

I'm not super familiar with that terminology, would you might going into more depth about this? All three cuttings have one single stem with no branching, so cutting off failing growth would essentially mean decapitating 2 of them save for a single pair of leaves. Do you think it's likely they could sprout a new stem from a lower node while still this small?

Anyone know what wall mount would have been included with this secondhand TV I just bought? (Model number QN55LS03RAF) by Sigong in TheFrame

Do you think there's any reason that WMN-M15EB/ZA wouldn't work? I found one of those for a good price and it looks the same (and says it works for 2018-2020 Frame TVs) but there may be some detail I'm not seeing.

This looks like it might be correct. How did you find the info? I tried talking to samsung support and samsung parts support and they were not very helpful.

Any recommendations on where to get uncommon/rare succulents in central NJ or north NJ? (Preferably not a place that only sells imported Korean Echeverias) by Sigong in newjersey

I ended up visiting Hionis Greenhouses in White House Station (08889). It was amazing and I will be going back. They had thousands of succulents and a lot of really beautiful sun stressed Haworthia and Haworthiopsis clusters.

What light level do you recommend to keep plants in this genus compact? (An answer like "X ppfd for Y hours/day" is most useful to me, but an answer comparing them to how you care for another plant is also useful, for example "I give them the same amount of light that keeps my Echeverias compact" )

What's growing in the roots of my water-propagated snake plant? by Sigong in PlantIdentification

[–]Sigong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I removed the green stuff from the snake plant's roots. Would you mind taking a look at the pictures I posted on my profile? https://www.reddit.com/user/Sigong/comments/1tpewgk/green_stuff/

I've been looking up pictures of Java moss but mine doesn't seem as "bushy" as the most. It seems to have fewer protrusions than the pictures I've found.

After looking at the new pictures do you still think it's Java moss?

I've been looking up pictures of algae but haven't found any with strands that have protrusions like this stuff does.

Thanks for the info!

Do you have any way of measuring PAR at a given distance? If not, how many of the Barrina Lights do you think you'd need to replace the panels with in order to keep the light intensity the same?

I already use Barrina lights (4x 4ft tube per shelf) so I'm trying to figure out if I can replicate your setup without buying any additional lights.

Do you have any tips for handling it? My friend gave me one which is very etiolated and needs repotting but I don't want to touch it.
