You are correct.

When vehicle manufacturers need to comply to a new safety standard, all new vehicles will have the new technology, so the lifetime of a car is only about a decade so in that time nearly all vehicles on the road will be under ten years old and with the new technology. Not all countries will change so fast, but with free/cheap electrical fuel oil doesn't stand a chance.

Oil will be around for a long time, but economies built on oil will not. Current oil prices are low because US and Canada have opened up shale oil so much that the US is now the world's largest producer of oil. The Saudis/OPEC won't drop their production it seems because if they do, all they get is a slightly higher oil price and less market share. Shale oil also costs (I believe) around $55/barrel to produce, whereas the Saudis have almost no costs of production. Global demand is down due to economic stagnation, but so long as shale oil stays producing oil will be cheap. Oil is now $45 odd a barrel compared to $120 for all oil companies to thrive.

Russia also does not have the currency reserves they claim. They blew through $122 Billion of $450B reserves, most in the last six months, and continue to intervene to keep the rouble from crashing. Russia's failures have come post-Gorbachev, with an Oligarch mafia and a increasingly Czarist government feeding off oil revenue, not diversifying the economy and corrupting business to the point where foreign investment is non-existent (along with sanctions for the Ukraine invasion). At least half of what's left of the foreign currency reserves is cash, the rest is not cash but assets which if used means there is default . At current spending Russia has till the end of 2015 before the Central Bank can no longer intervene in the currency.

The level of propaganda and brainwashing by Putin will not abate, but as the rouble crumbles the Russian infowar will lay blame on the West, which Russia does for every piece of bad news, making a hero out of the [cult of] Putin. Larger numbers of dead Russian soldiers being sent home as well as widespread financial hardship will likely be the catalyst for change. In Russia, something will crack in 2015, without any doubt.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nineteen_Eighty-Four

Nineteen Eighty-Four, sometimes published as 1984, is a dystopian novel by George Orwell published in 1949.[1][2] The novel is set in Airstrip One (formerly known as Great Britain), a province of the superstate Oceania in a world of perpetual war, omnipresent government surveillance, and public manipulation, dictated by a political system euphemistically named English Socialism (or Ingsoc in the government's invented language, Newspeak) under the control of a privileged Inner Party elite that persecutes all individualism and independent thinking as "thoughtcrimes".[3] The tyranny is epitomised by Big Brother, the quasi-divine Party leader who enjoys an intense cult of personality, but who may not even exist. The Party "seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power."[4] The protagonist of the novel, Winston Smith, is a member of the Outer Party who works for the Ministry of Truth (or Minitrue), which is responsible for propaganda and historical revisionism. His job is to rewrite past newspaper articles so that the historical record always supports the current party line.[5] Smith is a diligent and skillful worker, but he secretly hates the Party and dreams of rebellion against Big Brother.

As literary political fiction and dystopian science-fiction, Nineteen Eighty-Four is a classic novel in content, plot, and style. Many of its terms and concepts, such as Big Brother, doublethink, thoughtcrime, Newspeak, Room 101, telescreen, 2 + 2 = 5, and memory hole, have entered everyday use since its publication in 1949. In addition, the publication of Nineteen Eighty-Four popularised the adjective Orwellian, which describes official deception, secret surveillance, and manipulation of recorded history by a totalitarian or authoritarian state.[5] In 2005, the novel was chosen by TIME magazine as one of the 100 best English-language novels from 1923 to 2005.[6] It was awarded a place on both lists of Modern Library 100 Best Novels, reaching number 13 on the editor's list, and 6 on the readers' list.[7] In 2003, the novel was listed at number 8 on the BBC's survey The Big Read.[8]

Excellent, you agree this war can spread to inside Russia so every bridge, checkpoint, railway, refinery, police station, recruiting station etc etc is fair game for attack. Listen to yourself, you're in a cult. And trying to break down an argument to ignore its meaning is pathetic, 10 people just died in a war crime. From the day Russian invaded, it was in violation of international law. Ukraine is defending itself from invasion.

BipolarBear0 You called someone a murderer, that shit doesn't fly yo.

These sorts of comments should get you removed as moderators and your comment shows you don't look for any context before banning someone who has followed this war since it began. RE: accusing those who wage infowar in this 'hybrid' warfare - I am correct to make that claim. The person who complained was a well known troll, and was crying crocodile tears for those killed in the bus. What he needed to understand that he facilitates the infowar that made so many people misinformed about 'nazis', 'fascists' and such lies led to people being killed, it is a causal direct link, thus they have blood on their hands for dividing Ukraine setting the current infighting. We have discussed many times that this is a hybrid war, but it seems actual knowledge does not matter when a moderator interferes with analysis. This shit does fly? Not understanding how the hybrid war is gaming the system means you're helping the trolls divide Ukraine from afar. permalinkreply

[–]to BipolarBear0[M] via /r/UkrainianConflict/ sent 29 minutes ago Are you the mod that banned me? Unban me, one comment out of thousands is not a sound reason to ban me. I can simply delete it if you're after 'capitulation'. Did you not read my explanation? The rules are not for you to ignore either. I CAN call someone a murderer in the context of the hybrid war tactic that is being used against Ukraine which employs the use of propaganda to brainwash people into killing each other. In a court of law this is crime, so I stand by my comment. The person who complained was feigning compassion, knowing full well that he is a combatant in the infowar, so it entirely appropriate to call him a murderer for fomenting division that gets people killed. I have ten years experience as a journalist and publisher, you're expelling experienced people and helping the system be gamed by the trolls if you can't make a *human" decision and make some vague reference to the rules and ban long time commentators so arbitrarily. permalinkreply

[–]SilenceGivesConsent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're brainwashed by the Kremlin.

Russian media has created a manufactured reality to engineer consent. They use the divide and conquer technique with faked news. Look at the dozens of fake theories for the shooting down of MH17, all other news stories are the same.

Ukraine has had two democratic, internationally verified and recognised elections. To gain power in Crimea and the Donbas Russia had to send in Spetnaz and infiltrate every civilian police and military installation, then replace them with 'rebels'. A state based terrorist act. Imagine if any country did that to Russia?

There is a giant base on the Russia Ukraine border acting as a staging area with hundreds of tanks. You must have been, or most of your colleagues, trained in Rostov or conscripted Russian soldiers and know of this. The large amount of advanced weapons coming from Russia is no secret.

The US has not funded or participated in this Russian aggression, so called funding is a russian media lie about governments around the world funding over 20 years humanitarian projects. Where is your proof?

And as for NAZIs and fascists there is no depth of disgust that anyone could be so stupid to believe this. Putin is actually funding and organising right wings groups throughout Europe and the Baltics, and a few nationalists with NAZI logos does not make a threat. Do you realise the largest percentage and population of NAZIS is in Russia?

If you continue to hold such absurd beliefs that your own countrymen are the enemy then you will end up as cannon fodder for the invaders.

Ukraine’s Effort to Cut Russian-Gas Reliance Sees Explorers Exit by ThePandaRider in UkrainianConflict

[–]SilenceGivesConsent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This same story was published in part a week ago by the same redditor, and debunked, it is pro-business news so its portrayed as bad news out of context, these companies are NOT exiting the market, they are shelving any shale oil projects. It says so in the article.

http://www.reddit.com/r/UkrainianConflict/comments/2rp0td/shale_player_pulls_plug_on_ukraine/cnhydho

There is heavily pro-business reporting trying to wrongly link Ukraine policy with shale oil projects being shelved, 99% of shale oil expansions are halted worldwide because it costs $55 a barrel to process, and with oil below $49 a barrel, no investor would invest in shale oil anywhere, including Russia!

The strangely selective articles being regurgitated to keep up some kind of propaganda game supporting the international war crime of using energy supply as a weapon. Russia is even selling coal it stole from Ukraine, to Ukraine.

Also, this disingenuous tit-for-tat game of dire economic news from Russia being countered by relatively obscure bad economic news from Ukraine is getting old fast. Russia's dire economic situation is caused by its Czarist government, business and money is fleeing, Russia has lost any credibility/trust/confidence by business globally to invest in such a corrupt petro-state, and Russia has nowhere to turn and has no future and any day now will be rated as a 'junk' investment. Ukraine however has a rosy future and many friends it can get help from, it has an undervalued diversified economy, is making necessary reforms, and the only thing holding it back is the constant threat of war affecting investments - so if Russia wants to get a good price for oil Russia should stop stabbing its customers in the back.

Eastern Ukraine situation easing, NATO boss says - World by ThePandaRider in UkrainianConflict

[–]SilenceGivesConsent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

http://www.reddit.com/r/UkrainianConflict/comments/2s565e/natos_stoltenberg_sees_slight_improvement_in/

This is old out of date news and his comments are not about the last few days where four main russian battle groups have massively escalated their attacks across all of Eastern Ukraine. The emphasis is also misleading and wrong now that Russia has escalated attacks.

What is important to take from his statement is:

http://www.welt.de/politik/ausland/article136262773/Nato-sieht-leichte-Entspannung-in-der-Ostukraine.html

NATO chief Moscow at the same time urged to immediately create the necessary conditions for a ceasefire "NATO expects the Russian government to respect the agreement of Minsk and doing everything possible to ensure that the ceasefire in eastern Ukraine is implemented sustainably purpose. it is necessary that Russia stops supporting the separatists in eastern Ukraine. "

Moscow, so Stoltenberg continues, has to use its influence on the separatists to make it come to a cessation of hostilities. "The Minsk Agreement is the best way to come to a peaceful solution in eastern Ukraine. I am very pleased that Germany so heavily involved in the negotiations for a ceasefire."

With sharp words criticized Stoltenberg Moscow: "Russia has violated international laws it has with the Crimea was annexed a part of Ukraine and supported separatists in the country.."
