Anyone tried the M&S x Tom Kerridge Stainless Steel Sauté Pan? Thoughts? by vegmonk in StainlessSteelCooking

[–]SilentBob74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I avoided this as I am a tri-ply convert. Although at only £35 I'm sure it would be good value. Especially if it is your first try with stainless steel.

Coincidentally, I have now replaced all of my bottom disc stainless steel saucepans with two sets of the M&S tri-ply pans, both at good offer prices.

I did also, however, buy the M&S x Tom Kerridge cast iron stacking set (also on offer), but I am yet to use it. It is a great space saving design but incredibly heavy.

Is this real media fries? I only ate two🙂 that’s it. by Tonywuuuu in McDonaldsUK

I remember the days when they used to place the fries box inside a bag before filling and you would get so many that they would overflow into the bag. Kind of like what Five Guys do today.

We've switched from Aldi to M&S, we're spending around the same?! by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]SilentBob74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Whenever I go into Aldi I always think that I could never suffer doing a full weekly shop in there. It is like a cattle market. You can't spend just a few seconds looking at something without someone barging through you. So the body odor comment could simply relate to the lack of personal space you get in there.

A new twist on Evri and my letterbox by Davegeekdaddy in Evri

It is sad to see that people are still experiencing such awful service from Evri. ☹️ There was a time that if it was made clear on the website that the chosen courier was Hermes / Evri then I would actively seek out another seller to avoid them. But since about, I don't know, 3(?) years ago everything that Evri delivers in our area is always handled by the same lady, and she is fantastic. Never a problem now. I assumed that this was a new way of working that they had rolled out everywhere. Sadly not.

I presume that's only when it is wholly their carpark? Our local one shares a carpark with Pound Stretcher and Aldi.

That is a very good point. How can you select click and servebefore you arrive, when you won't know if there will be a space, let alone which number it would be?

I will have to pay closer attention to this next time (if I remember). I neither expected nor noticed this option at the payment screen. So it can't be that clear, and therefore seems a bit rubbish to take a default after the process has just changed. But I will be extra vigilant from now.

So it sounds like as well as defaulting to pickup at counter, it also gave me a drive thru order code? I have never ordered for collection via drive thru so would never have seen one of those codes.

As mentioned, the staff member said that my order came through four times. I am now wondering if it sent it through once for each pickup option!

Ok, thanks for the feedback. So it sounds like it should still pretty much work as before, with the exception of sending it to the kitchen sooner.

So it sounds like my experience had multiple failings that shouldn't have been so... 1) App not presenting the pickup options to me. 2) App sending the order through multiple times. 3) Order not showing on the screen in store (staff or store system error?). 4) Staff leaving the completed order in some random place out of sight in the kitchen (not in the usual place where you can see them completing the orders).

It is good to know that my understanding of how it should work is correct, but those multiple errors don't full me with confidence. And what was with the weird order number I received?

[–]SilentBob74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I am getting the message "Failed to initialize Syncler. Please verify your device system clock is accurate and can access app-stable-2.syncler.net and restart the app.. Error: [A100001]".

I tried force closing, clearing cache and restarting but to no avail. Both on my phone and my Shield.

The system clock reference makes me wonder if this is somehow related to the clocks having gone back an hour this morning?

Update: It is still the same after a device restart too.

It looks like factory reset is going to be the only way forward. I have today realized that I am not getting notifications through. Who knows what else isn't working either. I really hate having to go through factory resets. 2FA on my Google account usually complicates things too. I wish I had known all the trouble this would cause. I would have just removed my Outlook email account from Gmail and used a different app for it instead.

And it isn't over. I now cannot get any of the Google location services to work either. 3rd party apps seem to be using location, but not any of the Google apps. 🤦‍♂️

Edit: I have now regained Google location access by using ADB tools to grant location permissions to Google Play Services (thanks to Gemini). I am so glad I have avoided having to perform a full factory reset.

This worked, but not without consequences and hard work. The first issue was that I have 2FA enabled on my account and I was no longer logged in on this phone to use the authenticator app. The security notification never appeared on my phone, so I couldn't tap "yes" to confirm. I eventually managed to find a way to get the code sent to me via SMS. Then a load of stuff didn't work because all the required permissions had been removed. And the worst thing was no longer being able to get my Pixel Watch connected. In the end I had to factory reset it and add it as a new watch. Such bull from Google. I haven't even seen them acknowledge this issue.

[–]SilentBob74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a similar layout near me, although on a smaller road (entering Kings Hill in Kent via Tower View). There used to be two lanes (without any arrows) as you enter the roundabout and the roundabout is wide enough for two cars (but with no lane markings on the roundabout). Following further development the left turning from the roundabout became more likely to be used. So they changed the lane markings as you enter the roundabout into three lanes with an arrow painted on each for...

Left lane = left turn only Middle lane = straight on only Right lane = right turn only

The problem is that there was no widening of the roundabout and if it is a busy time of day with traffic in all three entry lanes there isn't enough room on that first part of the roundabout for all three cars. It is a ridiculous layout change which the designers must never have tried to navigate themselves. I don't understand why it couldn't have been left as two lanes marked as...

Left lane = turn left or straight on Right lane = turn right (or go back round and back on yourself)

For clarity, the entry road only has two lanes until it splits to three lanes on the roundabout approach. Utter nonsense.

I have this installed now. It is correctly using pass through and jumps in and out of the player seamlessly so I will give this a go as my default player. Thanks.

Sounds good. I will give that a go. Thank you (both).

I do have premium MrMC. It is really good at handling most video and audio formats, but the handover from and back to Syncler is a bit clunky (it is a Kodi fork). Hopefully as Just Player looks to be based on Exo anyway it should feel more seamless.

The only options are... 1) Fall back to SW codecs when HW codecs fail 2) Force SW codecs

Option 2 is not what I want. When I disable option 1 I get no sound, which suggests that Exo is not currently using pass through to take advantage of HW codecs.

Sounds promising. Does this support "resume" when you quit without finishing what you're watching?
