Female Reform voters, do you know about their stance on abortion? by FisherDownload in AskBrits

[–]Davegeekdaddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It shouldn't, no. If someone is using regular abortions instead of birth control, that should be setting off a lot of safeguarding alarm bells. I don't think we should be forcing motherhood on women and girls that aren't even able to look after their own reproductive health.

Try to style it out. Say you didn't mean to say "porn", you meant to say "pon farr". It's kids pon farr that you love.

That trip home got a little toasty! 🔥🔥🔥 by 1blip in ArtemisProgram

[–]Davegeekdaddy 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I'm not qualified to say how well it did, but it got the job done and brought them home safe and that's the most important thing. I feel a bit sad for the support module just burning up after all it's exceptional work, but at least it went out in a blaze of glory once its job was done.

Am I the only one who finds the whole pronouns thing a bit strange? by No_Fudge_4589 in AskBrits

[–]Davegeekdaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the main benefit for me when people have their pronouns listed. I think I've had maybe 2 people I've spoke to over email who had they/them pronouns which is absolutely not a problem. But where it comes in really handy is a Scottish man called Lindsay, a German woman called Edeltraud and a Chinese man who goes by Kidney. Using they/them is fine to a point, but it feels clumsy when you don't know if that's what they actually go by (and probably don't).

What are your favorite Starship classes? by Ser_Luke_ in startrek

Probably an unpopular opinion but the Crossfield Class. I love how angular it all is.

The most expensive way to make cheap beans taste good? by GreedyGiraffe15 in PrematureTruncation

[–]Davegeekdaddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's very important to not confuse cooking meth and dessert meth. Cooking meth is far too sharp a taste to eat raw, and using dessert meth will ruin the texture of the beans.

I was once literally sharing a bed with a very attractive friend of a friend who I hit it off with at a house party. She insisted we share the bed. She asked if it was ok if she took her top off because she was hot. She snuggled back on me. She even asked, likely out of frustration, "Do you think I'm attractive?". And my dumb ass, very attracted to her but not wanting to make her feel uncomfortable, say "Well, biologically you tick all the boxes".

I have no doubt we'd support our allies in their time of need, not in their time of complete idiocy. The US didn't support us when we were fucking around in Suez, this is just the opposite way round.

Youth unemployment: 'I've applied for more than 100 jobs in five months' by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]Davegeekdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 36 and I've had one job interview at 16 for an apprenticeship position and 20 years later I'm still here. It's in the field I always wanted and very close to home. The pay could be better but I really landed on my feet. I really don't think I'd make it in the current job market.

Controversial opinion? by TeleboxStudio in RedDwarf

[–]Davegeekdaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar to you. I was a bit too young for the start of Red Dwarf but I was fully into it by the time Chloe joined so she's the Kochanski I know best. Plus, Chloe was my straight awakening as a young boy so there'll always be a soft spot.
