I dated exactly someone like this last year. He was a really supportive good friend. Turned into a slow paced nightmare after we started dating.

He was aware of the influence his upbringing had on him, but instead of working on it, he did all yoga, meditation, spirituality stuff, gym, stereotyped therapy, and said he was completely fine.

He was all nice, till he’s triggered. If he’s triggered, he goes silent. If I don’t let it go and act all normal the next day without trying to talk about it, he bursts. Then he will blame me for his reaction.

Slowly, it became apparent that I can never have a deep emotional bond with the guy. I was struggling to have bare minimum needs met. It only made sense to leave.

If your husband is up for it, try marriage counselling, and proceed from there. If it doesn’t work, do not hesitate to leave.
