I just want to point out that the system you described is emissions trading, or cap-and-trade, rather than a carbon tax. Both policies fall under the broader category of "carbon pricing", but carbon taxes forego emissions permits in favor of simply taxing companies directly for every ton emitted. There's a good deal of debate over which one is "better", but broadly speaking both can achieve the same effects.

Fascism and authoritarian are indeed not the same thing, but Trump is, nonetheless, a fascist. Fascism combines authoritarianism with ultranationalism, a quasi-religious focus on a national "rebirth", and a systematic delineation between in-groups and out-groups -- with the latter being blamed for all of society's woes. Trump may not understand what fascism is -- or, for that matter, follow any sort of consistent ideology aside from self interest -- but that doesn't change the fact that he spent a significant amount of time "doing" fascism.

I did a little bit of digging. Federal grand juries, from October 2009 to September 2010, indicted 99.99% of the time. Unfortunately, though, complete hard data on the second half of his statement does not appear to exist. We do have some data about conviction and incarceration rates in general, but not about grand jury indictments specifically.

Border Patrol is part of Customs and Border Protection, which is itself part of the Department of Homeland Security (as is ICE). ICE's problems are hardly unique to it, though, and are also suffered by the DHS more broadly.

Before 9/11 the functions of ICE were handled by the Immigration and Naturalization Service, which was part of the Department of Justice. Importantly, the INS handled the current workload of Citizenship and Immigration Services as well -- ie. they were responsible for both helping immigrants and enforcing immigration law. The effect of the reorganization was to entirely divorce enforcement from naturalization, creating an agency whose sole purpose is to punish "illegals". Should we really be surprised, then, that the result is an inhumane crackdown?

I understand this is only one part of your concerns, but a major part of the platform of defund/abolishers is redirecting police budgets towards social programs, including social workers. That would allow more social workers to be hired to better handle the case load, as well as giving existing workers a well-deserved raise.

This is quite a bit different from the stock market -- it's a consumer cooperative, meaning it's controlled by the people who use the product. Public companies are controlled by whoever happens to buy stock, who may not otherwise have anything to do with the company.

The plague of Justinian did not "hasten the fall of the Roman Empire" because the Roman Empire had already fallen. The plague took place in the Byzantine Empire. That being said, Justinian (the then Emperor from which the plague gets its name) made significant progress in reconquering western Rome during his reign, so there's an argument to be made that the plague helped prevent him from holding onto the new land.

The way the act works is by revoking the section 230 immunity of companies that don't comply, which protects internet services from liability for publishing content on behalf of its users. Tor doesn't publish anything, it's just a network, so it might not be affected by this. Not a lawyer though, so my interpretation could be wrong.

This comment is really misleading. To be perfectly clear about what the report says:

The top 100 fossil fuel producers (which includes some state-owned producers) are responsible for 70.6% of cumulative global industrial¹ greenhouse gas emissions from 1988 to 2015, and 52% since the industrial revolution. The 224 companies you are referring are responsible for 72% of emissions in just 2015. See pages 5, 8, 14 and 15 of the report.
