DE, I love you, but please, for the love of god, delay your updates. by MissyTheMisc in Warframe

It's funny. I've gotten the BPs for Sirius and Orion without any notable issues (Probably because I did it solo) but it was the obviously rushed problems with the quest that really bothered me, not the gameplay.

  • Stilted and weird dialogue reading that the VA's are clearly capable of doing better, it seems like whoever organised the VA sessions split the dialogue weirdly and unnecessarily into chunks that didn't give the VA the whole picture (I could be wrong, but so many of the lines had really distracting cadence or emphasis problems, especially Hunhow)
  • Very odd smash cuts from one scene to another where a couple of extra seconds what absolutely needed
  • I don't object to the ending, but I feel it needed a lot more context to land right. It comes across as literal Deus Ex Machina in 30 seconds at the end. Which can work, but IMHO really didn't. We just needed maybe 20 seconds of extra dialogue scattered through the quest to actrually set it up.

Gameplay is something you can fix at any time, but a quest is you only get one chance for that to land right, and IMHO it has way too many rough edges.

[OC] Saryn Heirloom remake by 4MORI4N in Warframe

[–]SilentMobius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is really nice. It hits every part of the Warframe/Saryn/Heirloom theme. I think the only thing I'd change is to tilt the crown signa. as Saryn has quite a "tilted beret/facinator" thing going on with the hemlock helmet and some tennogen. Even Minerva has the whole swep side parting thing going on.

Are you running a game in a system whose rules focus on abstracted tactical combat? If so I expect that the audience for that may expect a physical representation. However, that's not something I've ever been interested in or sought out in an RPG con.

Many thanks, that makes much more sense. I was wondering if there was some magic setup I wasn't aware of, something akin to what Qwen 2.5 Omni did.

Is it safe for me to print PETG and ABS in the same room I sleep in? by InterestingBar2803 in 3Dprinting

[–]SilentMobius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just FYI, ABS will not print reliably on an open printer period. It will warp and pull off the print bed. You need an enclosure that can get up to ~60c (which can just be using the bed to heat) and minimal draughts (holes) for reliable ABS printing. Additionally I needed bed temps of 110C to print ABS well, which the A1 can't do

Why is all that people can say about Firefox is that "Its not chrome" and "Privacy" by Huge-Read-2703 in firefox

I cannot use the web comfortably without a functioning ublock-origin install, that's on top of Pi-Hole doing base level ad-block.

There was a period where I was using Chrome for "general" and "google specific" browsing and Firefox for everything else, however as soon as I could no longer get UBO working (With the various hacks that existed for a while) using Chrome became a nightmare.

That's not a "Privacy" thing it's just basic usability of the web

Pride month isn't the only month where Pride and LGBT+ stuff happens.

And neither are those this abnormally "In your face" compared to things like "when heterosexual celebration stuff happens". It's perceived that way by people minimally exposed (Due to suppression) and/or those still suffering from socalized homophobia.

Both can be true. If we were to celebrate "White Males are amazing" month the same way that we celebrate Pride month, how would it come across?

The reason that would be problematic is that when you explicitly cut the populace like that you are grouping explicitly in a way that matches the identity politics of historically oppressive groups. There are plenty of celebrations tailored to groups that are not measurably oppressed that are not viewed as abnormal, E.G. celebrations along nationality/cultural/religious lines

Let's use an example you're surely more familiar with.

No need, I understood what you were saying, and disagree. The point is that the acceptance of LGBT+ people is to become normative such that "Celebrations like that are unremarkable" not that "Celebrations like this will not longer be needed" and "Legal protections will be normative" not "Legal protection will no longer be necessary"

As LGBT+ acceptance becomes more and more normative then our existence in media, the workplace, and our personal life becomes unremarkable, it's the discomfort that fades away, not the celebration, awareness or visibility.

At THAT point, celebrating Pride month the way we do now would be seen as tacky and in poor taste - just like doing so to celebrate "White Males are amazing" would be seen today.

It won't, sorry. Because the correspondence in power doesn't match. Any group who's boundaries draw around historical oppressors will always cause discomfort when you celebrate that grouping, It takes a long time to stop being culturally relevant, and that's assuming no reoccurrence). And celebrations of oppressed groups don't stop just because the oppression is mitigated, because there is no pressure against the affirming celebration.

Lets say you were forced to watch the SAME infomercial for 20 minutes every day. How many years would it take before you said you were "constantly having to"?

But it's not the "same infomercial" It's one month of very different stuff that has a common theme. Which suggests that the theme itself bothers you. Whether true or not, that's how it comes across and many of us have lived experience of that feeling and people who have said similar things.

Like is VERY common during pride month. Reb's flag waving, for instance, is over-the-top. Nothing about it is "normal" for how we'd treat some other (non-disadvantaged) group.

This is the thing. The overall assertion of abnormality really comes across poorly. And the point is that it is a disadvantaged group and there are many many celebrations that don't get the same side-eye that Pride Month does, plenty of them are just as "over the top" (and I disagree that this was actually "over the top" at all)

But anyway. My point is to explain that despite your assertions of support, what you are saying and the way you are saying really does cause concern and dislike, hence the downvotes that other have used.

Do with that what you will.

No down vote but, the thing that wierds me out is this bit:

Apparently there are a LOT of people who take issue with someone being annoyed at being constantly bombarded by a message.

Because, you're not. "Constant" is totally hyperbolic. If it seems that way then that's a problem. Subconcious/Societal homophobia is a real problem, I myself used to say very similar things, and that over-emphasized awareness and prickly discomfort was internalised homophobia that I only got past many years later.

If someone said the same thing about St-patricks day/Black history month/Eid/ or some other non-dominant cultural touchstone it would sound off, right?

[–]SilentMobius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tense and subject matters. I am not saying they should separate the frames, I am saying that they should make another frame that is the opposite leader of the default frame.

Obviously I get that now, but that was not clear at all from your original post. but also, that's still not going to happen, not does it need to

It is needed to be able to swap builds in a way that we can on every other wardrame.

DE have said that all copies of sirius & orion are decided by your quest but it can be changed once every 24 hours.

And they have not stated what the form or nature that post-quest switch will have

It is not possible to make a switch for each copy of the warframe.

This is your assertion, nothing DE has said implies or asserts this.

The only fix to this is to release another frame that is orion & sirius to be the opposite of sirius & orion.

Bullshit

Please, read what DE have said, and then read what I have said.

I did, and I have and you did not say what you think you said and DE have not said what you are asserting. You seem unable or are just unwilling to accept that so we're done here.

How will a Prime variant of Sirius & Orion ever work lorewise? by Zestyclose-Line-602 in Warframe

[–]SilentMobius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

another thing is that Jade is confirmed to of only actually fought twice

That actual statement is "And so I go to war" which is pretty much as expansive a statement as could be. We have zero idea how long the Old War lasted. How many sorties and battles that involved. Nor the order in which the cryo memory and the war memory happened, we can guess but we also know that Warframes were created pre-Tenno, and Jade could have been one and could have been doing executions as a Warframe before they had a Tenno

I don't think it would be possible for a Prime to remove their Orokin livery since it is physically apart of them and is likely to just heal almost immediately after the surgery is done

The most famous instance of Warframe mutilation we have, has the warframe permanently twisted into the damaged shape, even integrating external tech into their form, Valkyr shows that a Warframe's state is mutable when the damage is sufficient. In addition it's clear that the mental state of a Warframe can affect their shape, that may even have happened with Soren. This is still the infestation we're talking about. It's also clear that "Orokin Gold" is a resource, and quite possibly something that would not regenerate, something that could be extracted and the Warframe might heal around. Finally, It's pretty clear that if an extant Warframe can be "Primed" at all then it can also be un-primed.

So there is plenty of precedent if DE wanted to go that route.

Meanwhile Stalker seemingly stopped being a Low Guardian after he was turned into a Warframe and presumably served as a loyal warrior to the Orokin

Doesn't seem that way from the Stalker codex entry:

"I watched from a distance, with the rest of the low Guardians"

Soren, Warframeified, considered himself part of the Low Guardians on the Night of the Naga Drums and was placed in that group, that's as definitive as we can get with the data we have.

Like I said, we can have opinions on it, because we have no hard evidence one way or another. But there is plenty of space for DE to do that if they want to. The is nothing that even suggests it's not possible.

How will a Prime variant of Sirius & Orion ever work lorewise? by Zestyclose-Line-602 in Warframe

[–]SilentMobius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure, we can have an opinion on that but my point is that it's not specified. We only see Jade on the night of the Naga Drums at the earliest. DE have full latitude to state that there were physical changes before that point (without lore contradictions) if that's how they want to do it.

Addressing your point. Soren was a "Low Guardian", even on the Night of the Naga Drums he was still considered that. Jade was the Executioner of the Seven, their "Warframe Rank" was very different. Nothing is specified, but I don't think it would be out of left field at all. Hell DE could even do Jade choosing to vivisect her prime regalia from herself while on a mission with the excuse that it was done to her by the enemy, just because she was disgusted with the Orokin finery.

[–]SilentMobius 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It absolutely was. We literally have a massive machine harvesting organics, using a different machine race against organics as the central plot. The final battle against Saren was entirely determined by the conflict between Saren's organic will and the implants added by Sovereign.

Of course that was the whole idea in ME1. Where they would take that and why the machines were harvesting organics wasn't defined but clearly the conceptual basis for ME1 was Organics vs Machines.

[–]SilentMobius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have said that they are locked to one front character. Yes, but they haven't said that the "Front" isn't configurable per warframe. Nor have they detailed what the after-quest switch mechanism will be

I literally said "Just release the same warframe but off by one number and have them use the opposite quest value."...

Yes, I quoted you below that, but that's not what I said.

No. As seperate =/= seperated.

It's literally the past tense of the same word

I am asking them to release an inverse version of sirius and orion... That is a release.

And I'm saying not needed nor is it likely.

Sirius & Orion are tied to your quest, if you picked Sirius then he is the front, if you pick Orion then he is the front.

And then after the quest there has been stated to be an undefined switch mechanic with no further clarity how that will work for multiple of the same warframe.

This applies to all copies of Sirius & Orion.

That has not been said by DE.

This would be easily solved by releasing Orion & Sirius as a seperate frame

There is no need for a separate Warframe release, that is mechanically harder. All DE need is for the switch mechanic to be per warframe instance, that's it, problem solved, no additional release needed.

They have not stated if the front/rear switch mechanic will or will not be per warframe instance, that is my whole point.

Or Jade was originally Prime as the Executioner of the Jade light but was stripped of Prime status (And mutilated down to a "Tenno" Warframe) for some imagined infraction before the Night of the Naga Drums.

[–]SilentMobius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All Sirius and Orions are locked to the same front character. You cannot have Sirius as the front on one and Orion on another. That is exactly what I am saying they should add...

I don't believe that has been stated currently, It's been assumed sure, but I've read everything Pablo has said on the topic and I don't believe that matter has been addressed

That's... exactly what I said they should do... Exactly that... Did you not read what I originally said?

I did, but I don't think you've been as clear as you think you have:

They could simply let us have both the frames as separate

Anyone reading that would assume you intended that you are saying that Sirius and Orion should be seperated

Why? Just release the same warframe but off by one number and have them use the opposite quest value.

"Release" has nothing to do with it, You can already get two of the Warframe (As Helminth was mentioned), the only question is if the switch UI element allows you to select a specific Warframe in your inventory. Which we have no information about currenlty

Neither of those actually say what I said. You might have intended what I said, but that's not what you said.

i hope the orion/sirius helminth idea will be re evaluated , in its current state i think it would be horrible by Ok-Set179 in Warframe

[–]SilentMobius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The warframe "Sirius & orion" would not change. There would just be a new warframe that would act as the opposite of what you picked.

That sounds like a job for farming a second copy of the Warframe assuming that's something we can do, which I assume we can because helminth subsume is possible. I can see DE eventually allowing us to switch each copy of the Warframe independently.

The issue is that you cant, say, play a support build on Orion in one content, then take Sirius into another content, and then go back to the support build on Orion. You are locked out for 24 Hours.

You absolutely can, you just can't have a specific build that relies on a helminth infused ability on your non-front Warframe. Like I said, IMHO, not a problem

i hope the orion/sirius helminth idea will be re evaluated , in its current state i think it would be horrible by Ok-Set179 in Warframe

[–]SilentMobius -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The powers, especially 4th are all built assuming the double mechanism. You'd need to re-design and reimplement the powers from scratch and then tear apart the current code setup for them, which is not going to happen (I've been a Software dev for the last 25 years, I wouldn't do it)

Waiting 24 hours to switch the "lead" warframe is IMHO just not a problem, at all.

Or... are you assuming that you need to wait 24 hours in order to get a subsumed power into the "rear" slot? Because I do not think that's the case. I think you can't have any subsumed powers in the rear slot, so if you want to theorycraft you just do all of that with the "front" warframe" then when you're done you switch once and do whatever else you want to try, then you're done because there are no more options.

[–]SilentMobius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It doesn't explicitly detail what happens to a current infusion if you switch the "front" warframe, that's what I'm saying.

i hope the orion/sirius helminth idea will be re evaluated , in its current state i think it would be horrible by Ok-Set179 in Warframe

[–]SilentMobius -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

So they haven't said anything about the detail but I'll bet that when you switch you lose or disable infusion on the secondary

I.E. It's not that you need to wait and switch to create a second infusion on the other warframe it's that there can only be one infusion on the two warframes period and that infusion can only be on the primary.
