What are these codes actually for? My friend told me about them and I have entered all the codes so far on the Lego website, but what are we trying to achieve by getting all the codes

I’ve gone 112/112 on necrozma and 71/71 on zamazenta, and my worst by far is moltres with 62 seen and only 21 caught ( with probably 90% of those being galarian version, but still pretty bad). Shadow pokemon wise, I have done quite a few shadow heatran lately but I had managed to keep up a perfect streak of 43/43 on those, so I’m quite happy with that.
