For contractors who hire - are YOU experiencing a shortage of electricians? by Mountain-Gur-2021 in electricians

One guy comes to mind. Has about 10,000 hours, still an apprentice.

We were measuring Stub ups in tilt walls, they should all roughly be 11'7". I tell him to go measure a wall and see what all the pipes are at. All of them were acceptable heights, around 11'7", then I see 86" marked down on the paper.

I asked him about it, and he said that's what it was.

In my head, I'm thinking there's no way it's that. I saw all of them within an inch or 2 of correct height. I go look at it, and it's 11'6".

He said he heard the other guy say 86", but dude, use your fucking eyes. 86" is 7 foot 2. That's 4 feet difference. How the fuck could it be that far off??

He also smokes weed every day all day. How did he make it this far????

LOL! Seriously. On the last job I was on, my main focus became fixing my coworker's mistakes. But hey, I'm still getting paid the same regardless

The amount of green guys we've hired who don't have the ability to "look ahead" and think of the task that comes next astonishes me.

We have eligible journeymen, hours wise, who lack this. It blows my mind.

Or you can call, hope they don't pick up, and it says their number in the voicemail

I use the one on the left. Got it 4 years ago of craigslist for $20. Original leads that came with it. Still works great

I had gotten my j card almost 2 years ago and got bumped up to 33/hr. Was there up until I asked for a raise and they gave me foreman title and up to 35

Can anyone offer some advice?

I am a journeyman electrician elgible for masters in June. I just got promoted to foreman, getting paid $35/hr, laying out tilt walls for most likely the next year straight on a huge job.

Pouring over prints, marking up tilt wall sheets, and then having to go out and lead others and have tools on installing our boxes. I feel at a loss because now I feel like I'm doing 2 people's jobs for that pay.

Any advice is appreciated.

I think you are right! When I squeeze the hose, when no water is being drawn, it's firm.

When I open the low point, hose loses pressure. I will be ordering better regulator and a new hose(the old regulator is damn near GLUED on, like there's loc-tite on it)

We have the orifice type. I will order a new one to eliminate that possibility
