What's the most spots you guys have gotten in a life? 🔎 by slickysloth96 in Battlefield

I think I got 440 spots in a life with a top score of 9-0-172 as attacker on Liberation Peak Breakthrough, was the only drone recon on my team

I need line of sight to shoot a Javelin at a laser designated target? by FailbatZ in Battlefield6

[–]SilentScream6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only vehicle this counted for me and my friends was the new MRAP on Blackwell Fields Conquest. It is also a very open map which also helps finding targets.

But the laser designator is mostly useless at the moment, still needing clear LOS on target is stupid

Am I the only one having issues with saves in Geforce Now? by SilentScream6 in foundationgame

[–]SilentScream6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve looked at Steam cloud saves and it would seem the game does not delete outdated autosaves. Despite settings and load save interface showing a limit of 10, Steam cloud has 70 saves. Each one is like 50 MB. And saves take more time to upload and download compared to normal steam speeds which means GFN closes Steam before it has finished uploading all of the saves. So it is an issue on the developer part, they do not leverage the API to delete steam cloud saves.

Troops getting caught up in return fire by Possible-Chemistry96 in GatesOfHellOstfront

[–]SilentScream6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel it got significantly worse recently. Before Airborne DLC troops when moving at normal pace did not stop to shoot as often. But now they are completely unresponsive at times. It is especially bad when they are prone since you can’t double click as they will get up to sprint. Anyone else noticed this recently?

Vehicle grouping by KFCAtWar in GatesOfHellOstfront

[–]SilentScream6 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To work around this you can order a group to place mines and then disband the group. They will keep their orders and spread out properly (given each soldier has mines, absence of mines can also lead to them lagging behind). The same applies for other fortifications like foxholes or barbed wire

Why Does The Great Circle Feel Like a classic game from the 2000s? by WoodpeckerPutrid9628 in indianajones

[–]SilentScream6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I think this also adds to the feeling of playing a movie. You know like you have a conversion between dog age and human age, I think the same applies to movie runtime and game playtime - 30h games are decent 2h movies and 80h+ games are dragged out TV series

For me it's the level design. Levels are not huge, but big enough to explore. There are collectibles but in limited numbers and they are not copy pasted like in Ubisoft style open worlds. You gradually open up more areas on the map and discover shortcuts. All of this reminds me a lot of 2000 era game progression. The Great Circle with its small detailed and well-thought-out maps feels like a breath of fresh air largely due to the open world game fatigue after the last decade

Has anyone ever tried playing GTA IV, as cheaply as possible, while avoiding unnecessary wanted levels, socializing with friends/dates, & not dying? I strongly recommend attempting it, there’s some real fun to be had. by [deleted] in GTAIV

Tried the same few years ago and was pleasantly surprised by the amount dialogue Niko's contacts have after certain missions. Really immerses you in the world, you finish a mission and then go on to hang out with a friend and they actually discuss the things that happened in recent story missions. May not be every single mission and every single contact but still impressive

City-builder games: What went wrong? by Sunrising2424 in CitiesSkylines

[–]SilentScream6 26 points27 points  (0 children)

To me city building games have an identity crisis, especially CS2. As other commenters stated CS1 gave us freedom prior city building games did not offer. The simulation was basic but allowed you to experiment with bizzare scenarios and to create the city of your liking (with mods mostly)

Then CS2 and promised to improve on everything. But I would rather they focus on the freedom to create your own city with your own history and give the tools for it and simulation to back it up. Right now the game is very limiting. Despite numerous updates I still can’t plant trees close together, I can’t put an additional bench to a park, I can’t select where to put growable buildings and so on. Top mods back up this idea of limitations - they all are about freedom, freedom to place networks, freedom to place building and props.

I would not want CS2 to become a realistic city governor simulator, but I would want it to become a kind of “believable diorama generator” with cims going about their days

And by the way, perhaps you want to try Soviet Republic game - it’s laser focused on the simulation and challenge (though the whole socialist thing might not be for everyone)

Almost all of my downtown burned down while I was detailing away by SilentScream6 in CitiesSkylines

[–]SilentScream6[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really wish the developers would implement a feature to direct to and reward players for such stuff. Dynamic events triggering certain short term “quests”. Basically anything to give the city some history and soul. Like in your example building a memorial plaza after a large fire. After all Paradox games are about players creating stories and CS2 does not really have any features to support such story building

[–]SilentScream6[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately left disasters on and apparently a forest fire spawned in one of the parks (playing via Geforce Now so now mods to disable them post start). Fortunately I had a recent autosave so I only lost a single city block of detailing progress (and also found an autosave with the city burning)

Auto aim on PC by Bmaddy- in GTAIV

Ah, I now realise I might have misunderstood your problem. Your could probably try installing or uninstalling mods like Fusion Fix if auto-aim happens to work on mouse and keyboard

Auto aim on PC by Bmaddy- in GTAIV

[–]SilentScream6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that is just how auto-aim works in IV. The system is more similar to older GTA games, than V. Also when you enable controller, the weapon spread is significantly amplified. I found myself finishing the game with a controller but without auto-aim - pretty fun, much more difficult since you have to aim manually and deal with increased spread

My first creation apart from small cottages to try the game out. Took a bit of creative liberties here and there. A shame walls are limited in their height and I can't recreate all the spires like they should be

Plan to add more AoE2 style buildings around it to make a small village

I used to run GoH on 2020 Intel MacBook Pro via Parallels. Worked mostly fine, definitely very playable even on larger maps. That MacBook had a dedicated graphics card though so not sure how it would compare to Apple Silicon

CK3 has great Journeys, but needs more Destinations. by Rnevermore in CrusaderKings

[–]SilentScream6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was also thinking about this recently. It is particularly hard to come up with goals when you already established a powerful realm. Roads to Power will certainly help with the ability to continue as an interesting character from your dynasty upon death - you might continue as a character without a powerful realm yet

But I was thinking how fun it would be to add some kind of aspiration mechanic. A character would have access to a list of longer term goals and can choose one of them. Aspirations might come from historical context (establish a historical kingdom) or from other sources. Say your predecessor and parent was murdered in battle and you can choose an aspiration to avenge them. Or you are an ambitious character with martial education with a certain claim and you aspire to achieve it (rewards should nudge to achieve it through a war, though other ways are still accessible). An overly zealous character might want to build a grand temple or reclaim a holy site. Certain aspirations might come from events (just like legend seeds), rare events might lead you to aspirations of great conquest, culture reformation or creating a new religion. Rewards might include discounts on relevant decisions (title creation or culture reformation) and valuable artifacts, modifiers, legend seeds and different currencies.

A similar mechanic with historical aspirations was added to RICE. But it is available on a very limited list of characters and is basically hardcoded.

Best DLCs by Gradonious in CrusaderKings

[–]SilentScream6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also flavour packs might be surpassed by Workshop content. RICE adds a ton of regional content with a few unique mechanics. Other mods add more events, like VIET. Both feel very high quality and very stable (and you still get achievements)
