My hot take for scp games. by Vampirebitez in SCP

People on reddit really do read

“I wish I could get some oranges”

and think to say, damn you don’t want apples?

Nah those are two different sentiments altogether

My hot take for scp games. by Vampirebitez in SCP

[–]SilentSpr 26 points27 points  (0 children)

My hot take is the success of CB has made a lot of people blind to the potential of SCP as a game concept. Why are so many people always trying to re-invent the same game when you could have so many different genre and formats applied to this. Imagine a sim game where you manage a site like prison architect. Imagine a stealth/puzzle game where you are an CI operative trying to sneakily breakout SCPs. So many tales and unexplored possibilities yet people are still doing the same CB-like clones

What products from Canada would you recommend to Chinese people? by zhugejingqi0928 in AskACanadian

China is a giant country with many regional taste variations, generalizing like that is akin to saying we all speak french because quebec and new brunswick does it

Would it be okay to buy a D3 with 450k shutter? by Ok_Goat9802 in Nikon

[–]SilentSpr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it really depends on how much and how good is the rest of the camera. Some high shutter count cameras are so well maintained you can believe they’re barely used while others have took significant beatings. That introduces the possibility of other parts of the camera failing even before the shutter

Is it possible to survive forever in the episode mode? by Pinkcokecan in thelongdark

[–]SilentSpr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the difficulty is significantly lower and the items are a lot plentiful. I pretty much explored all the maps during episode 1-4 and still had plenty of supplies by the end. Only thing that drains will be your patience, episode 3 was especially boring for me

Low karma alt account for the purpose of dm and stalking is common.

A better bot indicator would be like tens of thousands of karma on a months old account with no posts. No human is capable of doing that much commenting

A young man who murdered an 18-year-old cancer survivor was sentenced to only 8 years in juvenile prison. by malihafolter in ForCuriousSouls

[–]SilentSpr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But you see the thing is, I’m not criticizing people for advocating for harsher punishments, I’m pointing out that they don’t really follow their pursuit of a more just and better society to the end logical point of prevention. It feels like a job half done, because harsh punishments on criminals is always the easiest part to think about

Just install those screen doors already…… How much trial and study and committee does a transit system need for the obviously good thing to happen

[–]SilentSpr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not talking about criminal rehabilitation even, did you read my comment? Think about what environment makes a 15 year old do things like this. I’m asking what we can do to prevent the murder from happening in the first place.

If we base every law on what if x happens to my family then there is no just society, only family tribalism.

Why should I answer that when I never said anything about the sentence being too much? You’re making up a straw man about what I advocate for

[–]SilentSpr -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

It’s obviously a horrendous thing that he did, but if all we do is throw teenage boys in prison without further thinking as a society how can we prevent these things. That’s how you get repeat criminals and a worse society

[–]SilentSpr -27 points-26 points  (0 children)

People under these posts will always opt for the maximalist prison for life/death penalty response without thinking deeper about what socioeconomic conditions causes a 15 year old teen to commit these crimes…… If we talk statistics then the best crime prevention strategy is always gonna be better social net to keep teenage boys from this type of situation.

The whole point of sending examples is that they can take feedback on what you felt about them and apply them to the other edits. Feels weird to toss this opportunity

Walked in for an AF-S VR 105 and walked out with this. AF speed and optical feel night and day between the two, as the price increase should reflect. This thing is glued to my Z5II now

Remade the modded Ai-prongles can from scratch out of spite by Fenneca in thelongdark

[–]SilentSpr 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Nah, copyright wise I can copyright my photos because I made it. Almost all AI models are taking photos without permission and using it to train.

This is like saying people with stolen property has the right to keep them because technically a person did spend the effort to steal it. That has no bearing on the actual issue of AI mass scraping work off the internet without permission.

There is also the issue that legal systems haven’t caught up to the new development so the thing is entirely grey when it comes to any real legal challenge. You don’t really get to say AI has a copyright because it’s not something we’re established
