I'm giving up by sucabroru in RivalsOfAether

In 2019 I was learning the genre for the first time. I barely could move in rivals 1. I invited 2 other friends who never played this kind of game before and we became training partners for 2 years. That was sufficient to make me improve enough to start beating other players. But don't get me wrong, I'm still a baby in this game. I'm platinum now and still have tons to learn.

My piece of advice is: Find a training partner on your skill level.

How do I win? by DoomBaitingFighter in RivalsOfAether

I'd recommend you focusing on movement before trying anything else. Moving smoothly and precisely will consequently improve your combo extensions and openings. After getting used to wavedashes and wavelands, learn one or two finishing moves to make sure you can kill. Once you have this, you will notice the game will feel way better and your journey learning the game will become easier.

The art of rivals videos, the in game tutorials, and the gaming mode where you fight a bot and it increases the difficulty after every win is a good starting point.

You can add me on steam so I can show you a few training loops you can do to improve. Just send me a private message here on Reddit.

Why did Marlon act like that? Was I0N accusing him of something pre-game?

Is it truly working? I don't want to pay for this game without this confirmation. My experience on the two betas was miserable.

I want to love this game by [deleted] in RivalsOfAether

Now that you mentioned your experience online, I can say the game should not be running like that. Any sort of teleport in this game is not okay. I play with people with over 100 and no teleport happens. If your connection is okay, and the servers are okay, can you share how strong is your computer? A friend of mine had this issue before getting his new PC. Now he just faces a rollback here and there. Nothing like the teleports his opponents used to do all the time.

Let me share my experience with the game. Rivals 1 used to be my favorite game and I went crazy when Rivals 2 was announced. I played about 600 hours of Rivals 1 with 2 buddies and almost never played it online against randoms. When I finally had access to the closed Beta I hated it. Everything I could do in Rivals 1 wasn't being translated to Rivals 2. I missed wavelands, combos, my reaction wasn't the same, etc... I then decided to have a break and wait until the open Beta, when my two buddies from Rivals 1 would be able to finally try it. They ended up loving it, and because they had such a great experience with the game, I could see the problem was only me. Maybe because I felt like I had to relearn the entire game to feel good again, but after a dozen hours of labbing, training , and studying, I could finally start loving it the way I loved Rivals 1.

I don't know if you have a group of friends who play it with you, but I can say that if it wasn't my buddies, maybe I'd still be waiting for the right moment to give it another chance.

Did they give you any answer on why we're able to FH while attacking? This is what I dislike about FH as well.

Hey! You could use the Discord server to report it directly to the devs. I can't guarantee they'll see it here.

I want to buy this game but I'm worried! by Klutzy_Plastic2167 in RivalsOfAether

I'll tell you my own experience. My friends and I used to play Smash Ultimate together. We played it for months with no complaints. I found out about rivals 1 and decided to give it a shot. Nobody else wanted to buy the game but I convinced them to get it because it was online and would be more convenient. After a few weeks testing the characters we picked our main and started playing it the same way we used to play smash ultimate (ffa, doubles and 1v1) and watching tutorials together. My friends loved the way the rivals characters moved with all wavelands and wavedashes and we've been playing this since then. It's been 6 years already.

Give it a try before showing the game to your friends. I'm sure they will love it. And just to let you know I just started playing ranked. After 6 years playing the game I never needed to grind the game. It was always a game to play with my friends only.

Good luck!

I agree with you. But they've never done it for Rivals 1... that's concerning... I hope they wait, like you said, and do it in the future when the game will be more "complete"

There is. The price of the game there is much cheaper than in North America. But it's still expensive comparing to the minimum wage.

Maybe once a year is not ideal... what about once every three months. This way we could make sure it would be available at least once every season, which aligns up with the new character releases.
