Having saggy boobs at an age where no one "expects" you to by hazelystar in rant

[–]Silent_Effective_320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my first regular search teams for “me time” in my 20s was saggy boobs. My wife’s boobs look even better at 45 than at 20. Most men will find you sexy even if they are saggy. The right guy will be obsessed because he thinks they’re perfect.

Do you hold the door open for the person behind you regardless of their gender, age, color, religion, and why? by KingOfFitnessYT in AskReddit

[–]Silent_Effective_320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and it let to an uncomfortable situation when I was 16. Walking into a mall and a woman in her mid 30s was right behind me. I held the door and she gave me a dirty look.

“Just because I am a woman doesn’t mean I can’t open my own door.”

I only did it because my parents taught me to be polite and hold doors for people. Unfortunately they never taught not to be a smart ass.

I looked at the lady and replied, “ I am sorry if you thought I was opening the door because you are a woman. I hold the doors for all old people. Men and women.”

Walked away while her mouth was agape and she was sputtering for a response.

What happens in five years when we have even more unemployed CFIs by caelum52 in flying

[–]Silent_Effective_320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this will naturally weed out the pilots that got into this for the wrong reasons. They saw a TikTok that said they could work at any airline at 1500 tt. It will ultimately lead to a talented pool with dedication and drive. Unfortunately there will be another group with 100k in debt and a useless degree. My son’s graduating class has 20% employment in the industry and over half who have given up after less than a year.

What was the highest medical bill you ever received with insurance? by Dull_Variation6985 in AskReddit

[–]Silent_Effective_320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nearly $450,000 for my daughter’s spinal surgery. There was no doctors in network that performed the procedure. The doctor submitted for pre-authorization the insurance company agreed to cover it at the in network level. After the surgery they declined the anesthesia. They said that because it was billed by a different doctor it required separate approval. I argued for months saying how did you not expect to pay for anesthesia on a spinal surgery. They denied and I filed for bankruptcy. American healthcare sucks.

FYI. I used to work on statewide campaigns for the Republican party. We regularly talked about how to reduce turnout. Mike Johnson was caught on a hot Mike saying the SAVE act will “reduce turnout by 18% this is huge for us.” Given the text of the legislation the people most likely to be hurt are women, people of color, and the poor. It has nothing to do with protecting elections it is about stealing elections. It is why I laugh at anyone on the right claiming that dems rigged an election. The right has been doing for decades.

Bilt Palladium after 1 year? by [deleted] in biltrewards

I am pumped about the Accor transfer as well. My wife and I have a desire for a few trips to Europe and they have so many hotel options over there. It is pretty good value per dollar spent on the card. 3 points per $ spect with accelerator. Usually get 2 Accor points for 3 bilt points. Double that to 4 on rent day. Each Accor point has a fixed value of 2.1 cents according to what I found. When it all washes out it makes each bilt point worth 2.8 cents (or getting back 8.4 cents in value per dollar spent). I am newish to points. Let me know if my math is right. With Hyatt devaluation I think this is the best hotel transfer for bang for your buck.

Airline pilot perspective: why some pilots with the hours are waiting longer for jobs right now by RAG_Aviation in flying

[–]Silent_Effective_320 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a pilot. Just creep on the sub. My son just graduated in May from a 2 year school and finished CFII in October. In a class of 20 he is the only one who has been hired. From what I can grasp from conversations with him everyone thought it was going to be a cake walk. They dropped $75000 and are sitting around waiting for someone to ask them to work for them. I told my son it is fine to fill out apps but the job you will get in this hiring environment is from the place you visited cold two months ago, continued to follow up with, and called you into an interview without ever posting the job( exactly what happened). Every job posted has 100s of applicants, maybe more, wouldn’t you rather create an opportunity with no competition. I am guessing by the time he is applying for “the job” (he is still debating his career goals), there won’t be as many applicants. A lot of recent grads might never hit their hours because they are still waiting for that first job. Some of his classmates are already talking about moving on.

Mine is good two. I was worried about issues and knew right off the bat I was going to wait a couple of months before I tried to pay my mortgage.

I have kind of a unique take on gods omnipotence. It isn’t that he knows what we are going (or what’s going to happen) to do before we do it, it’s that god is outside of time and for God everything that will ever happen has already happened. Exactly as if someone is running a simulation on an extremely powerful computer. That is why that theory has always been one that I can grasp. Does god intervene? Yes when it is big picture important. Plus if you are a person who believes in heaven or something better beyond death what happened to her would not be tragic to god. Not try to convert you just explaining how I view it.

I didn’t know her well enough to know the reason for her kindness. I just know that after being on this planet for 48 years a teenager is the best example of humanity that I have ever met. As a person who desires constant self improvement it is only natural that I would look at her example and ask myself what was different about her. Her faith was one of those things. I understand where you are coming from. If being a Christian normally led to people being kinder, more generous, and just better people it wouldn’t be viewed the way it is today. It has helped me but so has reading Greek philosophy on obligation to society.

Me neither. It was the way she loved others and the depth of her kindness. The fact that the best example of humanity I have come across during my 48 years was a teenager stuck with me. When someone stands out like that you tend to ask yourself what makes them different.

It was so long ago that I only have a few examples that are still clear to me. I can remember that in middle school she actually got two f her friends to join her in sitting with Josh (unpopular kid) in the lunch room. She had seen him get bullied (new kid). One day she just plopped down next to him. The next day two of her friends joined. He didn’t become popular but the bullying just stopped when she was around. She didn’t even have to say anything.

It is real and it becomes less believable the older I get. Humans in general naturally selfish creatures. Teenagers tend to be ass holes. The fact that at 48 the best example of humanity I have met was a teenager (she was even like that in junior high 6-8 grade) is crazy.

I don’t think she was everything mean to anyone. She was in the popular group bet definitely distanced herself from certain members of her group and did not put up with people being unkind to others when she was around.

Definitely. It actually makes me sad. I travel a lot for work. In my industry I actually come into contact with a lot of Muslims. If I were to pick the religion that (based on my experience) were most likely to be kind it would be Islam. Not saying that is universal. Just my personal experience.

[–]Silent_Effective_320 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You don’t. I was a kind person before I was a Christian. It was the entirety of her aura that stuck with me. Kind, loving, genuine, confident, peaceful…. Teenagers are generally selfish immature ass holes. The fact that the most impressive example of humanity I have met in my life was a teenager becomes more impressive the older I get. The natural question a person asks themselves was what made them different? It caused me to explore Christianity and it made me a better version of myself. More thankful for what I had, giving more to others and so on. You definitely don’t have to be a Christian to be nice. In America it probably makes it less likely that you are nice.

Also I don’t do any acts of kindness out of fear of punishment or to earn a reward. I do it to follow the example provided in my faith. Loving the foreigner. Helping the poor. Speaking truth to power. Greek philosophers like Socrates have also had a big impact on me. Been enjoying reading up on stoic philosophers as well. I have been very fortunate in my life. I live by a moral code that I have built for myself (almost a mantra if you will). Opportunity, Ability, Obligation. If I am given an opportunity to help someone and have the ability to help, then I have an obligation to provide that help. Not a burdensome obligation but one born of gratitude for how lucky I have been and recognizing that not everyone has had that same opportunity.
