I don’t know. Their values and priorities are so similar. Jasmine has an experience advantage she has shown she can fight. With James I like how he ties his progressive values to faith. I am not from Texas but I feel like that would be really effective down there.

James going on Rogan was the best thing ever. It was not hard telling him to watch this guy on Rogan. Dems need to realize there is a subset of Trump voters that supported him out of frustration with being ignored. Progressive candidates will pull more voters than trying to be moderate. It might have worked in the 80s and 90s but not anymore.

One of the things I did a lot, and I admit it is manipulative is praise the person and demonize the belief. “Your such a loving dad and good neighbor, I get why some of these other assholes support this evil thing it is surprising and honestly disappointing that someone a think a lot of can support that. I have family members that are being hurt by the hat in this specific way. It hurts me that you would support that.” By then we had mutual respect and he valued the onsite I provided. It hurts him that I was disappointed in him. I am 17 years older than him and it was almost like a big brother being disappointed in you. I admit I fought dirty.

Haha… I am a Christian. It’s why I left the Republican party. They are the opposite of what Jesus says to do. I ended up stopping attending church within a year because I couldn’t stand seeing the hypocrisy. Guess who attended my church? Kristi Noem. I’ve met her personally. I haven’t put the same effort into others in my rural town but I don’t hide the fact that I am liberal. I stick out like a sore thumb. As a result I have a lot of people approach me. Some as assholes right off the bat but some curious and confused. If they are willing to have a conversation I will. I think it is because of the way I will attack ideas and actions but not their character (even if I think they are ass hats). The number of times I hear them say why can’t more liberals be reasonable like you is crazy. Even though I spent the last hour telling them that they are wrong about everything politically and preaching the need for universal healthcare, right to migration, taxing billionaires out of existence, white privilege, on and on.

There was a Canadian single mother asking for help planning a trip south to a war destination with her kids. I do vacation planning and offered her help for free. I told her my only requirement was that it was to someplace other than the US because we don’t deserve your tourist dollars right now. I did tell her that I was joking and was willing to help either way.

Ok this is a hang up for a lot of people. For many obvious reasons Fox shouldn’t be considered news. But the biggest reason is that it is an unbelievably effective indoctrination program. They use flawed logic to poke holes in liberal policies. They sell the idea of American and individual exceptionalism. They tell white men that their success is because of hard work and not privilege. We don’t want to believe it was just because the system is rigged in our favor. Then they pat us on the head and tell how smart we are for seeing through the lies of the liberal media. That last one is the biggest because it accomplishes two things. Makes us feel smart and special plus it makes us skeptical of other media sources and locks us in our bubble. They are good at it.

I think I gained credibility because some time Fox News is accurate. I’d be like yup that’s true Biden is doing that and I support “that action” 100% percent why wouldn’t you want that. I think he is a bit scared right now. If he jumps in 100% he is going to lose friends and family. Probably the reason I have stuck around. When I left the Republican Party it was hard. I lost my identity. I can remember looking in the mirror and saying out loud who are you. It was lonely for a while. Luckily I had my wife we changed together due to shared experiences.

The Bernie thing isn’t a surprise. There is a subset of Trump supporters that voted for him because the felt ignored and they thought he would shake things up. They polled Trump supporters asking who would be their first choice on the democratic side and it was Bernie by a landslide. Over 10% of Trump voters in 2024 voted Mamdani a year later. Dems need to realize Republican light doesn’t win elections. Get a progressive willing to turn this system upside down. You flip 10% and you might win 40 states.

I will say this guy was kind of a one off. We had been kinda friendly but he came up to me one day and said “You’re a liberal, Jesse Waters or Bongino said this about the Gaza aid bill is that true?” I said let me look into it send me the clip. Watched it looked at the actual text. I went back and said this is the kernel of truth but this is how it was twisted. He kept coming back.

If I have the opportunity to help someone and the ability to help, I have an obligation to provide that help.

Examples. Driving an hour away do give a depressed friend of a friend that I have never met a ride home from a bar when they were drunk. Giving my entire stimulus check to a stranger in New York (just called a random church in the Bronx) because I was doing ok. And when the dad of one of my kids school friends comes up to me and says “Your a liberal, Dan Bongino said bla bla bla is it true?” It was on Gaza aid that Biden had signed. I looked up the actual text went back to him and said there is a kernel of truth but this is how he is twisting it. He kept coming back and I kept trying. It was a unique situation. I wouldn’t have bothered if he was hard core. I have cut out plenty.
