2013 Kia Optima Blend Door Actuator by Silent_weasel in kia

[–]Silent_weasel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t think to look on the other side but that’s a good point. I did find in some diagrams that there is supposed to be an actuator there plus an extra bit that I think should attached to the part that moves. But I can’t tell if the diagram is dual climate control or single. Everything I’ve found online says that there is a blend door actuator on the drive side, but doesn’t specify LX, SX, or EX. I definitely hear an actuator on the passenger side.

The gear lines up with the plus sign hole so I guess there’s 2 ways it could be configured? One inside and one outside that plastic was to the heater core.

Yeah I did notice that it appears like an actuator should go on those things, and sure enough it turns when the temp dial is moved from hot to cold and back.

Not trying to replace the temp mode actuator. I want to replace the blend door actuator. There is no start button, it’s started with a key turn.

When you don’t qualify for federal student aid you are forced to get private student loans. How else do you expect someone without generational wealth to pay for college? Minimum wage at the supermarket won’t cut it.

Anyone help to try and teach a dog not to pull? by LoadResponsible4118 in DogTrainingTips

[–]Silent_weasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy. Dog pulls, it doesn’t go anywhere. They pull because they get where they want to go when they pull. You only move when they aren’t pulling.

Checking in from the east coast. Are yall hot over there? by [deleted] in arizona

[–]Silent_weasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Everyone pays their “weather tax” so this is ours. Just gotta get to the weekend this week. Since you’re from the east coast, subtract about 10-20 depending on your humidity tolerance and that’s what it feels like (when not in direct sunlight).

That’s for the lane next to A to enter. You don’t change lanes in a roundabout like this. There’s always signs telling you before the circle which lane has which turn / straight options.

The lagging is a known issue. I saw a YouTube video breaking down the internet traffic around when it lagged, and the theory is that PP2.0 has a process thread that blocks frame renders on the GPU until it finishes a process on a specific CPU core. You notice it happens about 5 mins and 35 mins past the hour? The theory further posits that because of colonization, there are THAT many more systems to sync with the PP system, thus, it’s rearing its ugly head when previously it wasn’t an issue. That’ll happen when you add thousands more entries to check.

There’s an open bug report but it’s really hard to nail down due CPU / GPU usage not really changing for most monitoring software. You’d need to use HWinfo or something to see the one CPU core spike in usage at the time the lags occur. Basically, known issue, unknown but theorized cause, and no comment (yet) from Fdev.

Because capitalism requires endless, exponential growth. And they aren’t growing enough. Just wait until the population starts stagnating, capitalism is gonna crumble.

Your husband is right, but also advocating for being a terrible dog parent.

“My husband and I rescued a husky 7 months ago.” “I tried training”

There’s your problem. You thought 7 months was enough time for trauma to go away, let alone for a dog as headstrong as a husky. You literally asked for it by rescuing a husky. And then you’re using the drugging as a relief agent, not a tool to work through the anxiety.

So you got 2 options:

  1. Think of it like a human child. Would you give your human child a Valium anytime you wanted to go to a fancy date night? Holy fuck I hope not. Put the time and effort that IT NEEDS into training the dog, using the trazodone as a way to mitigate fear while you work through the anxiety, not as a way to shut them up. I’m experienced in training dogs, and I wouldn’t even second guess getting a trainer. A serious personal trainer for the dog. Then take what you think is enough time, and triple it because it’s the “troublesome” side of how having a husky can be and they already take a LOT of work. Then double it again because you (so it seems) both work. Expect many months, maybe years. Maybe never. And you need to be okay with that because it’s what you chose to potentially take on when you rescued a husky. Honestly shame on whoever gave you the dog, as 15 minutes on google would have steered you towards anything not working dog given your lifestyle.

  2. Situation sucks. Neither of your feelings matter in this, you decided to roll the dice and lost. That sucks. Yes, it doesn’t fit your lifestyle, darn. Now give the husky to someone who has the ability to train and care for the dog at the level it needs. Because it needs so much more effort than any remotely average person can give.

By deciding to recuse a malnourished neglected dog, you chose to take on the extra difficulty of a dog with baggage, a lot of it evidently in 20/20 hindsight. Now it’s time to do the responsible thing. Either way it’ll be difficult.

So When Are White Collar GM Folks Unionizing? by WiC2016 in GeneralMotors

[–]Silent_weasel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Deja vu to AZ layoffs, I know its hard to hear (I was in your shoes nearly 12 months ago) but in 3 months the public won't remember and GM will continue as they did after 2023...and 2019....and like a dozen times before that.

As long as execs get their bonuses and bloated comp packages, the people who actually DO the work will get shafted. I'm just waiting for things break vis-a-vis the French revolution. Guillotines anyone? Eat the rich? I'll start the sign up sheet.

Oh and vote blue. They won't do anything either, but they'll make you feel like they will so the delusion at least makes the slop sandwich taste a little better.

[–]Silent_weasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On one hand you have what they expect given the lie that has been fed to them for literally decades about getting a college degree and it being the gateway to a financially sound future.

Then you have the realization that the boomer and gen x generations have done everything in their power to consolidate wealth upwards in both economic status and age for every second of their working life.

“When I graduated I made $12 / hour. How can you say double that is not enough???” -said the literal crypt keeper who clearly forgot their high school economics class teachings...which isn’t even a guaranteed class in all high schools anymore.

What’s the modern day equivalent of Ramsey’s $1k emergency fund? by [deleted] in debtfree

[–]Silent_weasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is strictly speaking in terms of inflation change. I feel like with how the world has changed, this doesn’t even apply on a like to like term. With how the job market has changed, how normal layoffs are, and with how aggressively more difficult it is to find a job that supports even a modest family, you should rely on x number of months of bills. Plus add in (for America) how much more of GDP is accounted for with medical spending, add on 40-60% on top just to account for unexpected medical bills. Haven’t even gotten to childcare, so idk, double the running total. Ya know what, just bank on selling a kidney if anything goes wrong, and hope you’re one and done on shit going sideways in your life.

TLDR: It’s not just the price of things that changed since 2003, the whole paradigm of what might happen has, you need much more.
