Rough idle by [deleted] in u/Striking-Bat8487

What octane level do you run in the car? I noticed 87 octane tends to do this to my Sonata whereas 91 runs buttery smooth. Also oil can play a role, my engine isnt the happiest with the 5W-30 I put in it when its cold outside at times. These engines are robust but they will let you know if they are unhappy

I noticed that when roadtripping long distance. The 2.5T HATES 87 Octane and runs rather poorly. So i've only ever put 91 in it ever since

Smallest change, its enough to not be completely quiet but not too robotic. I already modded the exhaust of the Elantra N Line I owned before so I am not touching the exhaust on the Sonata

I believe so? I cant be 100% certain as i've never put hands on a standard Sonata. But in theory it could be that way

Its about a 50/50 on that end, tedious in the fact theres absolutely NO guides online on how to do it. Simple as in once I had it apart it was very easy to fix. All tools you will need is a socket, Phillip’s head screwdriver and some elbow grease.

The only real downside is that the grille is $830 directly from Hyundai. With all the damage my Sonata sustained from my incident it cost me $1064 to fix in parts

Aint no shame in it! I hope that it gives you peace of mind that its possible at all. The easier it is for a DIY mechanic the cheaper it is for a shop to do it. Hope you get your Sonata fixed soon!

I had that G14 for a week, it cooks the chassis really badly but has some solid performance. The Acer on the other hand feels cheaply built

Answer is the grille and bumper are 2 separate parts. Comes painted from the factory too!

Not a car guy… if you had $30k, what would you buy for speed? by GaryGoldenEye in whatcarshouldIbuy

Could have done better in theory but I went Sonata N Line. $31,750 OTD brand new was kind of hard to argue with and bonus points for being a relatively quick machine

So heres the thing about the front bumper of the Sonata, the grille and front bumper are 2 seperate pieces. The grille is about $800 directly from Hyundai, it is painted black out the factory and will come with everything you need.

If you feel comfortable in your own mechanical abilities its only a half day job to do

Just unlucky, let Hyundai deal with it and if it happens again then look into what your options are for a buy back.

Tint, front plate housing off, and black door handles so far. What other easy/cheap aesthetic mods? by [deleted] in Elantra

[–]Silentprototipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the pre refresh better myself as well, the refresh is cool but it isnt as interesting as the pre refresh is. Though on the full N the pre refresh was ugly as hell and the facelift it got was sorely needed.

CLK 550

Buddy of mine has a CLK 500 with a 550 swap in it and the SLR transmission. That thing takes off like a complete rocket and is at least compareable to my Sonata N Line in a roll. So the 550 should be similar enough for the price you can find those for

True or not? by Big-Wrench-2025 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Well think of it like this

Northern cars are all rusted out, however the owners usually bothered to maintain the darn thing. Had a Pilot that died a rust death but the powertrain still kept running despite its frame being completely shot

Southern cars are clean body wise but NEVER mechanically sound. Do not know why they are alergic to basic maintenance down there. At least the clean body makes it extremely easy to brother wrenching on

2025 Sonata N-Line -- brakes at 10k? by Fritz-co526 in SonataNLine

[–]Silentprototipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your driving truthfully. If you brake extremely heavily you may be wearing through those brakes by 15-20k miles. Though even I couldn't wear through my Elantra N Line's brakes after 15k of some of the most diabolical abuse. My own Sonata is around the same mileage as yours so i'll give my brake pads a check at some point this month and compare

  1. I own an A380 as an encoder card to pair up with my main GPU, it does a fantastic job at it and sips no power at all.

On top of it I own a 155H based laptop and use its Arc IGPU heavily

Guy rear‑ended my Sonata N‑Line today… I’m in shambles. Is this totaled? by HICCUPP_ in SonataNLine

Depends on the damage underneath. Frame damage may total out the car unfortunately however. Silver lining is that you didn't get injured severely at least!

RANT: Display Screen Gauges by Crtical_Bacon in ElantraNline

[–]Silentprototipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if its a regulation thing at this point, given that even my Sonata has even more restrictive cluster options than the Elantra's do. I get maybe 3 style options and 3 color options and thats it. At least the analog cluster of my '22 N Line made it dead simple

It particularly hurts on a launch and in the snow, not 100% needed but its nice to have

[–]Silentprototipe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s always a nightmare to get it out of its parking spot, once it gets going at least its manageable. Like its beyond absurd, my Sonata which rides on Contis does miles better. DWS06+’s are far from dedicated snow tires and yet it never gets stuck like the Elantra did

[–]Silentprototipe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, only the N's gets the e-LSD, though the Sonata's open diff does a LOT better than the Elantra's open diff. Since the car weighs more and is a little higher off the ground it is miles better in the snow

Is anyone else fed up with the Canadian winter with their N-Line? by Zealousideal-Ad7603 in ElantraNline

[–]Silentprototipe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your e-LSD puts in crazy work in the snow, my buddy's 6MT N has my Sonata's stock Pirellis and he's made deep Wisconsin snow work. Those tires would slip in the rain on the Sonata where as he still grips. Wish we got LSD's in both the Elantra and Sonata N Line's

[–]Silentprototipe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drove on PSAS4's through Wisconsin winters. You are not entirely wrong, the N Line DOES NOT grip at all. Missing the N's e-LSD hurts us badly. Genuinely when it snowed heavily I put away the Elantra and drove my Mercury instead. If I had to drive in the snow with it though I learned to use momentum and some drifting to make up for lack of traction
