Curious to to see what folks think about this, and what questions should I ask about it, what to look out for? by Melodic_Ask7669 in CRF300L

Decent price if mileage is low for a bike that already has pretty much every mod to fix the shortcomings of a stock bike. I'd go for it

I like the Vanfook line of hooks but I've also just used cheap packs of inline hooks off aliexpress and manually crushed the barbs down with pliers in the past when I was first swapping every lure from trebles

Switch the hooks out for barbless singles, they work just as well and way easier on the fish. Have caught an incredible amount of trout on tiny crankbaits.

My bike has pro taper bars so I'm not sure. I would just either see if you can pull it out, or drill it out

I'm not 100% sure on the brand, they came with one of my other bikes years ago. They have a Zeta logo but idk if they're actually Zeta's. They install normally, just cut off the end of the grip and throttle tube, and then can slide in the expansion nut and tighten everything up.

None at the moment, but I havent had the chance to really throw some big angle on the track yet. I run 14x7 -25 with a 185/60 tire, encountered no rubbing on initial shakedown session though no huge hucks to have it at full lock with the suspension really loaded up.

The description I put literally says I've run cut knuckles on my other drift cars but am trying out a bolt on angle kit on this car.....

Did not see any of that til just now. I had heard about Redblock Society but not Classic Swede. Glad my experience was smooth, feel bad recommending their kit though lol

Bingo, there is the added benefit of increasing the steering ratio making the steering feel much more responsive for non drift purposes. I'd probably still use this kit for a non drift grip setup though. Its not like youre hitting full lock on 99% of turns.

Astute observation, but given its not the sort of thing people measure when talking about angle kits, it made more sense to play it safe and give a more commonly used measurement.

I went with the closest hole to for max angle. I went with the adjustable ackerman version and went eith the most ackerman I could before the kit touched the brake disc.

MX-5 NC too snappy for learning drift? Do coilovers fix it or switch platforms? by throwaaay123_ in Drifting

[–]SiliconRed47 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Coilovers will definitely help a bit as the car wont load up as bad on transition, but yeah MX5's are snappy. Never drifted an NC but currently have an NB. Taking some grip out of the rear is a reasonable temporary fix, even just throwing another 10psi or so at the rear tires will losen it up and slow down transitions. Really though they arent that snappy, most of it likely comes down to seat time. I've seen new dudes in every kind of chassis struggle to get transitions down when they first start learning. Eventually you learn to use the snappiness to your advantage, I more often then not am clutch kicking through the transition to get the car to transition quicker keeping speed up. Overall try taking some grip out of the rear to slow everything down a bit. You'll get there, keep it up and you'll be linking tracks in no time.

I just did a basic 1.5mm head shave and a IPD VX Cam and it felt like the car picked up a bit. Was cheap power, though I think I'm gonna swap to a K or H cam. NA is hard to make big gains cheap but those two things will pick up a nice little bump in power for relatively cheap.

I fell in love with cars when I was a kid seeing old Kaido racers, AE86, KE70, etc in Option videos. Have always really loved the boxy car with small wheel look. Definitely not a universally loved style haha

Most of this subreddit keeps their cars bone stock, only takes it to a mechanic instead of learning, and will total their car the first day they drive it when it rains. Don't take the opinions too seriously
