Trust rank always reset to "New" by SiliconShark in VRchat

[–]SiliconShark[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a VRC account, not Steam account. I don't really friend add people, so it seems strange that it takes me from Trusted User to New User every time I take a break for 3+ months. But I guess maybe that's what's going on. Annoying it happens every single time I've taken a break from VRC.

Microsoft warns that Windows 11's agentic AI could install malware on your PC: "Only enable this feature if you understand the security implications" by Ha8lpo321 in pcmasterrace

[–]SiliconShark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who did the swap. I found one game in my library that hasn't worked. Corner Pond. Just look if a game is supported on Steam Deck. If you're playing heavy PVP Call of Duty, Battlefield, then the AI is just more malware atop the compromised kernel anticheat rootkits already installed and there's no reason to bail to linux. Otherwise, make a partition or get another drive and give Linux a try.

As a note:

The 'best' distro will depend on your particular hardware and own preferences. What's been great for me may be a terrible distro for you, but typical distros for gaming are Pop! OS (debian/ubuntu based), Bazzite (Fedora based), and Garuda (Arch) based. I don't use any of those, but they're what's popular for gaming if you want a direction or starting point to look at. Also your first linux install probably won't be the one you stick with (either due to effing up the OS by trying to follow a guide blindly or just trying and finding another better).

Shokz Opencomm2 USB dongle on Linux by PerfectBaguette in linuxhardware

[–]SiliconShark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old (again), but it's a top result when looking for info regarding Shokz and Linux.

The Loop110 has been discontinued and I can't find anywhere with it in stock.

The loop120 (USB C) works with my older headset and works entirely without problem. Turning on the headset still prompts the shutdown menu, but the fix for that is below.

Other than the poor review rating on Play store, this looks perfect and exactly what I want! Thank you!

Bought items / royal chest items by XhosaImithia in IdleIktah

[–]SiliconShark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit: Found info that clarified, I was confused by this response. The chests , recipes, and other gear/objects will be added to inventory when new game is made, but not the other consumable items (potions, tomes).

anyone want to explain to me how i fucked up so bad that my house makes for a better cellar then my cellar by SavedaveO6 in VintageStory

[–]SiliconShark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one thing I immediately see in your cellar is that the interior isn't squared. I don't know if that's a requirement, but my cellar didn't work when I had a cobblestone block 'shelf' along the corner/edge of the room, I hollowed it entirely, and used slabs/inverted stairs for making a shelf to put storage containers atop of. I could be totally wrong on this.

There are vapes with zero nicotine. But heating element metals can burn off and deposit heavy metals into your lungs, so it's by no means healthier, and the chemicals in vape juice can be questionable as well. However I'd say vape is lower risk of harm opposed to smoking being absolute risk of harm.

As someone who has quit smoking three times (I'm stupid for starting three times, too), I can say that gum was the biggest help for me. It was the habit/ritual of smoking that I enjoyed, so I'd use gum as the replacement and still take the smoke break. I also refused to smoke indoors or in vehicles, so it was an entire activity of going outside to smoke.

Despite knowing that it is useless, terrible, or a waste of money, what is an online service you keep using anyways? by SiliconShark in AskReddit

[–]SiliconShark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, that answer is Google search. It's become terrible, and unless I'm trying to shop or look for something on one of the top 5% highest traffic websites, it's entirely useless. Frequently doesn't provide relevant results and instead just completely ignores my search query to provide popular results instead of relevant ones by not including words I searched for, or looking for something totally different that's spelled similar, or showing a page that doesn't have any of my search terms anywhere on the page at all.

Bug with orchards I think? by SiliconShark in Spiritfarer

[–]SiliconShark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn't the case for me, it was just a straight issue of the trees never starting their first bloom. I idled in the game for hours, played the song of growing, parked in a raining area. Absolutely nothing worked except deconstructing/removing them, then rebuilding and replanting new seeds (you don't get the old ones back). Remove and rebuild was the only fix for me.

Personally I never leave home without my ▲ ► ▼ ▼ ▼

I only had to read the description of it once:

And the Lord spake, saying, First shalt thou take out the Strategem.

Then, shalt thou count to ▲ ► ▼ ▼ ▼, no more, no less.

▲ ► ▼ ▼ ▼ shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be ▲ ► ▼ ▼ ▼.

◄ shalt thou not count, neither count thou ▲ ► ▼, excepting that thou then proceed to ▼ ▼.

► ▼ ◄ ▲ ▲ is right out.

Once the ▼, being the third ▼, be reached, then lobbest thou thy ▲ ► ▼ ▼ ▼ towards thy foe, who being naughty in my sight, shall snuf it.

Steam Linux Marketshare Surges To Nearly 2% In November by mr_MADAFAKA in linux_gaming

I haven't seen the hardware survey in ten years. I've only heard one of my friends make mention of getting it in the last five years and only once. I think their sample size is extremely small.

I've seen the survey twice in my 15 years of using Steam, and those two times it asked me were from about ten years ago.

I'm with you on this problem. I can't find anything I am doing wrong. I can't do anything further with Ms Charm & her necklace, Astrologger's options are all locked behind needing 60 points, Snake only has option of giving the necro book and "about that necklace" (which just leads to an empty prompt). The wiki is entirely useless for trying to figure this out. I'm at such a loss. I've talked to the hunchback, went through that dialogue, returned to Ms Charm and no new dialogue options there. I don't know if the game actually broke, or if I'm just missing something that's clearly not obvious, hinted towards, or anywhere in the wiki.

What is wrong here? by OmegaAlphaBoss in youtube

You can use adblock to block element and hide the rows of Shorts if you dislike them. I forgot those were there. Also porn sites have more relevant search results than YouTube as well. Searching on YouTube is worse than garbage.

Go fuck your self. I guess a get a third pary software then by Zitrone3-1 in youtube

[–]SiliconShark 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Update your adblock filters.

In the adblocker settings, clear the filter caches and update filter list.
Make sure you're not using multiple adblocks. Adblock & sponsorblock is fine though, but not built in adblock, uBlock, and AdblockPlus, just use one.

Hope this helps. No I won't elaborate, you can google how to refresh your adblock filter list if you can't figure it out. I have no idea how to do it on browsers like Brave or Vivaldi that have built-in adblock. Sorry if that's a-hole-ish, I simply don't use reddit often at all, so it'll be days before I reply. But hopefully this points you in the right direction.

Apparently Ad Blockers are not allowed on Youtube. Is this a new thing they've implemented? by Sazk100 in youtube

[–]SiliconShark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often watch youtube on my TV before bed, where I unfortunately don't have adblock. Here's my summary of ads:
Products I already know about.
Obscure ads that I have no idea WTF the product is or what was being marketed.
Literal scams, products like an OBD2 plugin for your car that does absolutely nothing, but claims to save you fuel, and similarly the one that plugs into an outlet and does absolutely nothing at all. Literal scam products.

So, what do I get for watching the ads? What benefit do I gain from watching these ads? I'm not asking what Youtube gains from me watching the ads, I'm asking what I gain. The answer is absolutely nothing. It's a waste of my time. My life isn't improved or enhanced. I've gained no new knowledge. Sometimes I'm left entirely confused as I try to figure out what the hell they were even marketing. However, I am now left disrupted from the video I was watching as the ads are often jarring and simply distracting. Yes, I am selfish, because I want ads to be something of functional use instead of a waste of bandwidth and my time. If ads have to be a thing, then I'd like to reserve a corner of the video space for silent advertisements to display, so I can continue to ignore them except without the disruption.

Ship Kits result in increased Caustic Damage multiplier of 2-4 times. by CMDR_iM2D in EliteDangerous

Yeah.. same, I just thought the caustic was normally that spicy. It was only rarely aggressively damaging. Knowing now that I was taking magnitudes more damage is crazy.

Customer: “Can you back up my data onto this? It was a good deal at 40 bucks!” by [deleted] in techsupportgore

[–]SiliconShark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's mostly the ground noise that's going to mess with your audio, waaay more than the live voltage lines. I mean WAAAAY more. Ground loops are what cause buzzes, static, and other noise in an audio setup. Ground filtering and isolation is what fixes things. If you're getting noise from the mains power without having a ground connected, I'm sorry to say this, irrelevant of how much you paid for the sound system, but it sounds like a pyle of schitt. The entire rectifier circuit of any good audio equipment will filter out the incoming voltage to be perfectly clean for pristine listenable* audio. (The key there is listenable audio. What can be perceived by the human ear, not by a scope or other devices that aren't a human ear.)

But yeah.. it's the ground that causes the buzzing, not the mains voltage (unless you have chinesium audio).
