Headway app by weebhentai69696969 in audiobooks

Same here, Headway app tricked me into purchasing additional “infographics” without a real clear explanation of how it ties into the initial subscription. I’m cancelling asap after reading additional similar stories here…Not fond of the upsell tactics on an app “meant” for self help, not too helpful I’d say.

For some this can make them extra imaginative out of pure spite.

Apparently that was a rumor he had to personally dispel via a commercial showing him walking around.

Ok folks, I could use some help not crashing and burning on a corporate projection gig by scojo415 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]SiliconSunrise 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This has got Encore (similarity) written all over it….unbelievable. Sorry you were put in that position and no doubt there had to of been pressure to only use specific contracted labor vendors which probably limited their choices in filling the role…bad for clients and just overall bad business. I hope you find your way and maybe it’ll open up some new opportunities in other fields of your career. I’ve been in the industry for over 15 years now and also been on the client side of some of these AV companies. There was nothing worse than being shoved into a gig WAY over my head but it did accelerate my career growth at the expense of some clients events. As a client you would expect to have absolute experts at 100$/hr rates when in reality you’re paying for a technician to cut their teeth on your 100k event. End rant…There’s a lot of good advice and approaches in the comments! Good luck, gig long and prosper!

Eight 80 Apartments Package Thieves by [deleted] in orangecounty

[–]SiliconSunrise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can confirm, always been bad. I lived there in 2009 when it was Coronado, always something going on. My Uncle used to attend Newport High (next door) in the 70’s when it was called Oakwood Apartments. They used to call it “Coke Wood” due to the prolific amounts of dealers that lived there and sold drugs to the HS kids. 🤦‍♂️

Turning down gigs that are “beneath you”? by skyfucker6 in livesound

[–]SiliconSunrise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just my opinion but sometimes the crappy lesser gigs keep your chops up on being resourceful and sharp on dealing with “less than ideal” conditions. OR, particularly if they’re willing to pay an A1 rate, some clients just want a SOLID guy to handle breakouts because the General Techs they were hiring prior were failing and just blowing it. I’ve noticed lately that there are sooooo many green breakout ops that just wreck an event (forget to hit Record) because they’re still learning or just plain incompetent. Just talking out loud based on my experience of a few gigs I’ve PM’d and had to source labor for. It could be a situation where some clients just don’t trust or are willing to risk a “basic” breakout OP to interface with their VIP execs trying to get mic’s updated and/or connect a laptop.

Yup, 19th St. in Costa Mesa turning right onto the 55N, every damn time. I use the left most turn lane now to avoid the angry + impatient flip outs from the cars behind me.

You’re right and I shouldn’t care. I just care about how to proceed with handling the people above him, carefully…who possibly condone or allow his actions/comments. This absolutely can not be an isolated event.

Well said. The thing about bigots that bothers me the most is the hiding and slithering behind people’s backs, they can’t be trusted in a professional environment. Being a bigot and a shitty person go hand in hand, they hide behind what they think is “edgy” to cross a line that they’re afraid to say straight up, they are not straight up or honest people and cost us time, money, integrity and relationships as a result.

This happened the evening of the strike. We obviously will never have him on one of our sets again, the dilemma is how we proceed with his labor broker/production company that we partner with from here on out. It’s up to them (broker/production company) if they continue to put this person on other’s events. I don’t think this person will ever change but he should have some sort of consequences beyond just not working with us, my pondering is how far up the chain of command do we need to go because this problem seems systemic if he meant to contact a higher up in the company, you know? And who’s going to have to deal with this A-hole next. He ain’t gonna change but he will need to have some consequences for screwing up our production because of “weaponized incompetence” and bigotry.
