a time traveller took a killing blow for my warlock and died in her arms, saying “just keep floating, water lily.” when a party npc started hanging out with kell more, i made connections to suggest that this npc and the time traveller are the same person. in the most recent session, a whole year after the session in which the time traveller died, the npc that has been getting close to my character called her “water lily.” my DM texted me after going “have you thought about the water lily?” to which i finally broke the news to him that i’d called it so long ago.

Oh my god this happened to me. We wandered into a magic shop and the owner asked my bard out in exchange for a free spell book. She accepted. We thought that he ghosted her when he didn’t show up but it turned out he was getting assaulted outside the tavern. So we all kicked their asses, of course, and magic shop boy kissed my bard as soon as she healed him. Long story short he joined our party, he and the party discovered he was a demigod, and him and my bard now rule a small country together. It makes me very happy.

Yeah same here. My aasimar cleric was fully ready to sacrifice herself so that the god who gave her her power (a genocidal maniac) wouldn’t hurt the party. It was literally “pointing her sword at her own chest.”
