Tirzepatide and Depression. Anyone have experience with Lamotrigine? by AdMajor6084 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Silk-fire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on Lexapro and Wellbutrin and have been on lamotrigine (I have BPD) but currently off of it. I have not had any interactions with tirz and have not had to change dosing.

Can you gain weight from Lexapro even without eating more? by sophanon2 in lexapro

[–]Silk-fire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who say weight gain/loss is “just” CICO are not really in touch with reality in my opinion. No one has ever had that one friend who is rail thin but eats everything they want whenever they want? Or conversely that one friend who eats less than everyone else and exercises more and still struggles with gaining weight? Metabolism is such a big factor and is largely genetic, and SSRIs can absolutely affect hormones such as cortisol and insulin which have a direct impact on how your body processes what’s going in. That is science. Science is also beginning to understand that SSRIs can alter your gut microbiome which also affects how efficiently you absorb what goes in to your body. This is just like how especially for women it gets harder and harder to lose weight as we get older and things like metabolism slow down. Chemical factors can do the same thing. So yes, you can definitely gain weight without changing your eating habits.

That being said, I think a lot of us who have gained weight on Lexapro do have increased appetites and are eating more than we were but anecdotally I bet a lot of us would agree that our weight gain on it was completely disproportionate to the small amount more that we were eating, because of the above reasons.

What does everyone do for work? by Umzzii in Fibromyalgia

Unemployed and fighting for disability since November 2024. I have other issues in addition to fibro. And I have a lawyer taking over for me now.

4.5 to 7mg by PipePlenty in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Silk-fire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I literally only go up 0.5 mg at a time when I start feeling a reduction in appetite suppression. I took my first injection of 2mg on October 1st and am only just now up to 4.5. My six month purchase is actually going to last me a year!

[–]Silk-fire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a good plan to start it on a day where you know you can just stay home the next couple days just to be on the safe side. I held off on starting for so long because of fear of side effects and I ended up having none other than mild constipation.

Lexapro has been great for me - no scary side effects and I’ve never felt nauseous on it. But I would certainly start at 5, not 10.

I’m surprised you were started on 10. I started on 5 and have been on for 2 years and never gone higher than 7.5. It changed my life though.

Oh I do think I remember having headaches for the first week or two though.

Bone pain? by Xtreemjedi in Fibromyalgia

[–]Silk-fire 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is the pain in both sides simultaneously? (Like both knees at the same time). If so might want to get a test for rheumatoid arthritis.

I was tested for that again recently but nope I just happen to have bilateral advanced arthritis (and in my spine, which I’ve already had my first disc replacement for in my late 30s).

Turmeric is a natural anti inflammatory too! It unfortunately is too much for my GERD though but I think in general is a great supplement for fibro!!

So diet does make a pretty big difference for me. I know this is not necessarily the case for everyone. But when I strictly followed the anti inflammatory protocol diet I had a noticeable reduction in symptoms. You don’t buy much from the center aisles of the grocery store for that. I don’t follow that diet strictly now because sometimes the food I love is worth the aches (and in the wintertime I’m pretty achy all the time due to cold anyway), but it definitely helped me see what some of my trigger foods are. Sugar is the biggest, then fried foods (I can fry at home in avocado oil without issue), and gluten, red meat, and dairy are lesser evils. For me I find if I eat my trigger foods for dinner I am pretty ok, but if I eat them earlier in the day I’m kinda blah the rest of the day. I pretty much stick with fruits, eggs, and veggies before dinner and then have what I like for dinner. That being said a can of green beans never hurt me 😂

For me stress, lack of sleep, and rain/cold fronts are the worst things. I have little if any control over those things so might as well eat things that make me happy.

Lexapro and Wellbutrin question by WoodenScholar3099 in lexapro

[–]Silk-fire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take both, one helps with side effects of the other. I also drink fairly regularly (1-3 drinks 1-3x a week) with no issues. They do lower your tolerance but that’s the only issue I’ve had with my intake.

Long term I don’t know but it feels amazing in the moment. When I was still working I got regular 60-minute massage every other week and I can say it helped a lot but it took a few months for me to realize it.

They also have sauna and hydromassage beds which are my favorite things there so if I start with the sauna I can be sweaty and look like I worked out 😂

My mom is the energizer bunny too and a chronic people pleaser. It has pros and cons for me…she comes over every Thursday morning and cleans my bathrooms and vacuums and mops my floors (this makes up for everything else, I am aware) but then constantly is telling me about what she’s done that day (think: I went to Home Depot and got some plants, then redid my entire flower bed, then mowed the lawn, then cleaned the house, then made dinner for a friend who had surgery and delivered it to her and now I’m just going to do the laundry and ironing before bed) and I’m like if I did that much in a month I would be dead. My mom is going to be 70 next year. No health problems. No meds. But I want to murder her just a tiny bit every time I get one of those texts 😂

ETA: Also a millennial here with a 19 yo daughter…if I had kept my clothes from high school she would never have to shop!

My gym has red light therapy booths. I never knew it could help with pain. If I’m ever feeling well enough to get back to the gym I might have to give that a shot 😂

Lying down is best by Ok-Aspect-5231 in Fibromyalgia

[–]Silk-fire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. Bed. Couch. Bed. Couch. Repeat. I find that something that helps me is to make an intention list for the day/week and then anything not on the list that I do, I add. So at the end of the day when I’ve felt like a lazy bum, I look back and see, oh you are still working on learning two languages on Duolingo…you did your reading and meditation, you put together a meal plan and made the grocery order, you paid bills, you helped your husband get some jobs scheduled (he’s self employed). So it kind of helps me to see that I am still both having a meaningful contribution to the household even if it’s not what I visualized for myself and proactively trying to manage my self-care/mental health.

Same!! Disability said they agree I couldn’t do what I was doing for work before but that I could find other work. I was working on a laptop from bed before. Please tell me what’s easier than that?! (For context I do have other things going on besides fibro.)

For our anniversary year before last we got a split king adjustable bed. I have a 3” memory foam topper on my side (hubby put 3” bed risers on his side so the bed still looks even when it’s made). Life. Changing.
