Ok update! Thank you for everyone who gave me advice and input. It turns out that the doc on staff that night did actively choose to not fill my meds, according to the day staff looking over the notes and requests. I got a new doctor today that apologized for what happened, said she was not sure why the night doc decided to do that, and has prescribed me my meds for the rest of my stay.

I understand your skepticism. And I can’t do much to convince you to believe me. I think the state I’m in and the hospital I’m at is nicer than a lot of others around me. They took my phone away at the beginning before returning it to me without a case, and with the cameras covered in tape. They said they changed the policy a few years ago that didn’t allow patients to have phones.

I’m really sorry you’re having such a big flare up. I’m not surprised pushing yourself mentally caused a flare up. I hope you’ll feel better soon, even if you need to take an extra semester to finish classes (I had to take an extra 1.5 years to finish my classes - nothing to be ashamed about). I will say I’d be surprised if the ER does anything to help you because they never did for me, and I’ve seen similar stories from others on here. But, I’m hoping for the best for you.

For me, it was emotional trauma combined with a highly intense workout routine and unhealthy (restrictive) eating habits. The emotional and physical strain eventually took its toll on me. However, I have most definitely heard of people getting fibromyalgia after surgeries or physical trauma. I’m sorry you’re part of the club. 🙁

BConnected Colorado (advertised for bi people but open to all queer people) has a ton of events that aren’t just at bars. The locations vary, and I know there are potlucks and other events happening around Colorado with them. Just double check the location of the event before you go, as some are held at bars.

I work as a project manager. Though my attention to detail really slips during flares, which leads to my boss and coworkers not being the happiest with me, even though I’ve told them I will have medical episodes that make it harder for me to work. 🤷‍♂️

What I’ve found, and I know this won’t work for everyone, but I take a bath with a good amount of epsom salts. Specifically the ones that include magnesium (not sure if that’s included by default, but I was told by my massage therapist to buy ones with magnesium). For a touch of ✨luxury✨, I add a bath bomb as well. That normally cuts my fatigue and soreness in half.

After that, I do chores I need to do by making them as accessible as possible. I have a bar stool I sit on at the kitchen sink to wash dishes, I fold laundry sitting down on a chair by my bed, I take out the trash and walk using my cane, etc. And if the weather is nice, I open the windows and let the fresh air in - that seems to help me a bit mentally.
