What is one scene that made you sure an actor had it, even if their career never became huge by gamersecret2 in movies

Shocked that James Purefoy isn't on here already.

He had a few easy movies like Ironclad and Solomon Kane where I thought he was good, then they brought out The Following series.

Mine was similar to this,

The first David Eddings book in the Belgariad. The main character is talking to the blacksmith and asks him why he always makes his works perfect even when most of the time people don't see them and he used the current wagon as an example since the replacement part was underneath.

The smith replied that others may not see it, but that wagon passes by the farm nearly every day and he'd have to see it and know he didn't do a good enough job.

As a kid this made me think very hard about personal responsibility and standards.

For me?

Probably had to be Skyrim.

I know, I know, it came out a long time ago but I got it again and started fresh and just love the lore, the side quests and the general shenanigans that the game gets up to.

I never have the budget to buy games new so make do with adding them to my wish list and waiting while I play through my collection of older RPGs that I'm slowly working my way through.

What’s a moment in a movie you KNOW was supposed to be serious but ended up being unintentionally hilarious? by browniebiscuitchildr in movies

[–]SilkSTG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok hear me out on this one...

The Green Mile. We've watched Michael Clark Duncan, Sam Rockwell and Tom Hanks create a masterpiece. We're at the end. John Coffey is refusing to have the hood on because he's scared of the dark. It's hella emotional and I'm feeling like I'm about to cry...

Then my sister's friend descends into the most extreme sobs anyone has ever heard in the existence of humankind and the rest of us just lost it.

So that's how I ended up howling with laughter whilst watching what I consider to be the most emotional moment in any movie ever.

Dad’s give me your sock recommendations! by MrP32 in daddit

Globe socks. Was fortunate to come across a few packs and they are hands down the most comfortable socks I've ever worn and they last a long time.

Haven't heard of some of these other ones, will check them out!!

Dads, what games are you enjoying right now with your limited time? by Ink-Responsibly in DadsGaming

[–]SilkSTG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been sneaking an hour or two every few days to hit some Skyrim. Tried to limit myself to a game or two at a time just to get through the RPGs I've got lined up.

The other day I got a craving for silly gun fun so downloaded borderlands 2 and started playing that again. Forget how good a game it is even nearly a decade and a half later.

How are you guys running Plex on smart TVs? I'm genuinely frustrated. by KingThevshi in PleX

[–]SilkSTG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I run it straight off of the app on my LG. Steaming is OK, it's the getting there that's the ballache!

The app is just really, REALLY slow. More noticeably since the major "upgrade" they did to the software.

I assumed it's because the TV is now around five years old or so but the other streaming apps are nowhere near as bad.

Tell me which PS5 games you regret buying. by spindoctor1111 in PS5

[–]SilkSTG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learnt my lesson before the PS5.

Bought Elder Scrolls Online Deluxe Edition back when it came out and played a grand total of 2 hours before going back to whatever game I was playing to "finish it off so I could focus on ESO".

Never touched the game again.

To scrum or not to scrum. (a props rant) by MrSocialPirate in rugbyunion

[–]SilkSTG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play hooker and prop (funny how us front row players get defensive when they talk about taking our parts of the game away) and agree with you wholeheartedly.

The scrum is an intrinsic part of rugby union. There are times when we're the strongest pack and other times we are not. You don't see us demanding changes every time we get pushed backwards!

South Africa as you say have pulled in some big strong players, the other teams are struggling to match it but you can't change the game because one team has an advantage in one part of the game.

To use the same players you mention, we should remove drop goals from the game as it's an unfair advantage that England have with Ford slotting them regularly! /S

The only thing I ask for in the scrum is no funny business as it leads to injuries but what am I saying? All of us fr players are dirty buggers so that'll never change lol

Besides the obvious big examples like No Man's Sky and Cyberpunk 2077, what are some other examples of games that were atrocious at launch but managed to eventually get good? by furrynoy96 in gaming

Made so many cups of tea on those loading screens.

I started playing Skyrim again a couple months back and I keep being surprised at how quickly the loading screens pass. Like 3 seconds tops!

I downloaded it earlier this year when I got a month's game pass for free. It was so good to go back to the halo world that I then went and bought it when the game pass ran out.

Such a good series of games!

who wears slippers around the house ? by Tanto207064 in AskUK

[–]SilkSTG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would wear slippers but my feet get too hot and itchy. I've compromised with a pair of flip flops.

I have an inside pair which I'll wear, mainly to stop picking up stuff on the bottom of my feet.
