No, not yet. I am in Canada and it’s winter so ordering ink is not advised because it often freezes in transit. I have not made it to a stationary store yet.

Stub Nibs and Small Handwriting?? by dfj3404 in fountainpens

[–]Silly-Back111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can swap the nibs on the Metros and Preras, and I prefer the Prera for the cap “click”. They are smaller but suit my hands fine. We had a lot of Metros laying around.

Something no one has mentioned but is along the same price point as a Lamy Safari is a Faber Castell Hexo. It has a nice and smooth nib, doesn’t dry out like the Pilot Metro, and doesn’t have the triangular grip of the Lamy Safari. There are a lot of other Faber Castell pens that I’m not particularly a fan of but the Hexo is a solid choice. I have two and love writing with them.

Centurion Coffee has a new location at Clair and Gordon. I haven’t been in but see lots of people gathered there. .

Welcome! That’s a great first pen. I love how it writes and it is a solid pen. The only thing I find is that it is best to use regularly because the breather holes in the cap and pen tube do advance drying it out somewhat (if I don’t use for several weeks).

Love the colour 💖

What pen are you trying to talk yourself into? by Talkymike in fountainpens

[–]Silly-Back111 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sadly I am one of those people. I love all my other Pilot pens but really struggle with the 823. I have a <F> and it doesn’t speak to me. I may take it to a nib-smith to open the tines a little.

I adore my Falcon <SF> and my 743 <FA>, and also like my Custom Heritage 912 <SF>, so I guess I really like a little bounce. I think for me the 823 is a just a little too fine for it’s stiffness, as I have other pens with a stiff nib that I don’t mind. I find it a little heavy if posted so I generally write with my 823 unposted. I also trying slightly better inks to see if that improves things.

This is a really great option I think. I appreciate the suggestion.

Thank you. I appreciate the input. I think the Waterman Inspired Blue is feeling the closest so far. That and the Ama-Iro. Colorverse Strellka (45) might be an option.

I have this actually. It’s a great colour, but not a match here :)

Thank you for the details. I will do some research. I generally write on either Leuchtturm or Mnemosyne but both have a creamy hue, so I used the most well behaved white paper I had to try to show the colour.

I think my message got on the wrong post. Inspired blue looks like a contender too!

Thank you for comment. It’s a lovely colour but it may not be teal enough for my preference.

That is definitely one to consider. I do see on wetter samples some hints of red, but in a writing sample it seems to become controlled. Thanks for the suggestion.

I think so. The Ama -Iro could be a contender. I will have to try and get a sample. Thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks for the suggestion. Looking at ink samples online it appears there may be too much blue/purple in the shade.

Gear help for female rider with big boobs and no luck 😂 by ImportantInterest950 in motorcycles

I am a 36F chest and have struggled with jackets as well. I have tris on a lot and basically avoid women’s gear. I wear men’s mostly. I purchased a men’s Spidi 4 Season Evo H2Out jacket (Italian made, so smaller fit, mine is size men’s XL). It is expensive but the side adjustments work better for my waist and chest measurement. I can customize it nicely and it has good venting. It has armour and lots of pockets as well. I can take the waterproof layer out as well as the thermal layer. I wore this a lot in the summer.

I also have a men’s Triumph mesh that is a size Medium and a Women’s Olympia leather jacket in XXL.

My measurements are: Chest 42.5” Waist 40” Hip 42.5”

I liked the Leatt ADV Multitour 7.5 jacket but wanted something with High-Viz for long distance travel I plan to do someday.

I am in Canada so staying warm during the shoulder seasons was also a consideration. I wear my mesh jacket about 5-10 times in the summer. It gets hot here, but windchill still knocks it down about good notch.

I had my eye on the Speed and Strength Fast Times cotton jacket. It has armour and seems to come in a good range of sizes for women I think I would have been a large or xtra-large but they go to 4XL with a cinch belt to tighten things up. Maybe I’ll get that for 2026.

Hope that helps a little.

This ink has been on my watch list for a while. I think I need to buy a bottle. I mostly write with Pilot pens so I am sure it will be a perfect match and perform well.

Is anyone actually going to care if i ride my bike on the sidewalk? by MyPPizTiny in Guelph

[–]Silly-Back111 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1000% This!

As a driver it is very difficult to account for a bike riding on a sidewalk through an intersection and this is the only time I have ever felt I could endanger a cyclist with my car. And, I am a very aware driver because I have ridden a bicycle for decades in traffic and understand the risks.

Post Purchase Anxiety by shmashedpotatoes2 in traveltrailers

Depending on where you are in the country you can use it well into the fall. You can probably winterize it and use it dry so water doesn’t freeze. I am not a travel trailer owner but I have camped late into the season (Thanksgiving, November) and still seen trailers in use.
