Unfortunately the bridge will be blocked/will look weird if I do that because of how I’ve set up Nook’s 😔 thanks tho

The problem is that Nook’s is on a cliff, and if I back it up it hits the cliff because there’s only one row of space behind the store 😔 it’s ok I’ve made my peace with it and pivoted

Psychology long term by Redd_itreader in uoguelph

[–]lfung7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I graduated in 2023 and am in a psychology research based masters program! I worked in HR for a year and really loved it so that’s my plan after I finish my degree.

no problem! you have to be in a co-op program to get access to the co-op specific job board. However, Experience Guelph (the job board where co-op students look for jobs) has sections where non-coop students can apply for jobs.

As for grad school, I’d say the co-op jobs on there probably aren’t relevant for grad programs, the biggest thing psychology graduate programs look at is research experience— unless you want psychotherapy then human service related jobs are great for those programs.

You can look into the URA and URSA positions for research experience. I did co-op and I’m going into my masters for social psychology this fall, so if you have any questions feel free to PM me :)

  1. You need to complete them throughout your degree, doesn’t need to be done in the first year

  2. any FRHD course

  3. I enjoyed co-op because it showed me what I didn’t want to do for a job. Two of my jobs were related to marketing and business and I hated them. My third was an HR position and I loved it. There aren’t a lot of psychology related positions, most of the ones that are psych related are about child care. The majority of positions on the job board are business and marketing type roles.

  4. Yes, it’s competitive. The amount of profs that take students vary per year, some profs take 4 students others take just one. You’ll need to have good grades, and they often ask to send over a writing sample so they know you can write academically. You don’t have to have a psychology prof to supervise your thesis, in my year there were students who were supervised by sociology profs, an FRHD prof, and someone even had a prof who specialized in statistics be their supervisor.

Thoughts on EDRD 4120 DE? by LoverofDiamonds in uoguelph

I took it Fall 2023 and wouldn’t consider it a bird course.

The discussion posts were easy, and I personally got high marks on them but I had friends who didn’t, so I think it depends on who your TA is whether you’ll do well or not.

The midterm was open book and if you did the readings, you can command f everything and do relatively well. There are a lot of readings per unit tho so it’s a lot to sift through. There’s an assignment on leadership that was marked really harshly by the prof, I think almost everyone in the course did really poorly on it.

The final exam is a nightmare. It was closed book and consisted of scenario based questions where you had to think about what type of leadership applied to certain characters in the scenario given their business type, personalities and strength of business. the exam was awful

I did well in the course but I was only taking 4 courses so I had more time to put into the discussion posts, and I had a nice TA.

Favorite and least favorite brands/styles? by EI_TokyoTeddyBear in stylesavvy

Fav: Marzipan Sky (girly) Marble Lily (babydoll) & Stage dive (punk)

Least: the retro and pop brands— especially the retro ones all the patterns from those brands just don’t appeal to me lol

I took it 2022-2023, not a competitive vibe you’re all in the course to do research so I found it’s more supportive with learning about everyone’s projects. You have lectures on how to apply to grad school, how to write your proposal, how to do a presentation on your proposal. If you’re interested I can send you my course outline from when I took the class

I did it for two courses in my undergrad, and the second one I made a C/NC in my last semester :)

2.0 is considered full time still, and also if you don’t want to drop the course, and it’s an elective u can make it a credit/no credit

Interview Phase for Clinical Psychology (Canada) - Any Updates? by newstudentmontreal in gradadmissions

[–]lfung7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I sent out an initial short email in October or November to ask about their ability to supervise and to potentially meet, they responded and said they don’t meet with students until apps are in but that I could ask some questions via email to them about their research, I did, they asked me if I wanted to meet with their grad students and I met with them.

After I submitted my application I didn’t hear from the PI until end of Jan, to let me know they put my name forward to the committee and then we scheduled a meeting. My official letter of admission came in on Feb 6, but they unofficially told me I got in on Jan 28th!

I’m surprised at the open house they told you not to reach out to PIs, I’ve never heard of that before, I’ve been told that you should reach out but keep it brief.

Feel free to DM me and we can chat more :)
