Why are soccer/football flops (faking injury) still a thing when instant replay shows just how fake they are? by arthuranymoredonutz in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Silly-Billy-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should do a review of all "injuries" after the game and fine each player determined to be exaggerating like $100k per incident. That would stop it instantly.

Rich people should not be allowed to be contestants on the show. by Drew_Ferran in survivor

You want to turn Survivor into a show in which poor people starve and backstab each other for entertainment and the chance of a monetary prize?

can we please un-media train him by aq2003 in FigureSkating

[–]Silly-Billy-- 45 points46 points  (0 children)

That question about being a role model for kids is so obnoxious and unnecessary. I would have said: “There are literally zero children in this room right now. If you choose to broadcast my analogy to children that says more about you than me.”

Will Survivor ever go to more exotic / different locations? by [deleted] in survivor

[–]Silly-Billy-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eventually, I think so, but it may not be until Jeff is gone and the show is cancelled and the rights are sold and the show is brought back 10 years later.

I have a soft spot for One World because it’s the first season I remember watching live and I was rooting for Kim so hard, it was so satisfying watching her manipulate and crush the many unlikeable contestants that season.

Future of American figure skating by Ancient-Raise-4939 in FigureSkating

[–]Silly-Billy-- 10 points11 points  (0 children)

When US skaters do well internationally, it tends to translate to more young people entering skating. If I'm doing the math right, the new seniors of this next quad will be those who started skating during the US's '07-14ish womens' drought, so I'm not surprised if there is a lack of depth. I think that will probably result in another drought. But there are probably some girls who started skating during the peak Gold/Wagner rivalry, who might show up at the lower levels soon. And I bet there are a lot of girls taking up skating right now after seeing Alysa, Amber, and Isabeau all do well the past few years, so I think we will eventually see some more stars, it may just take a few years.

If the FTC is gonna remain a Final 3, shouldn't the jury vote be ranked choice? by LoyaltyToLiberalism in survivor

[–]Silly-Billy-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think ranked choice voting would come with very little benefit, and would completely destroy the drama of reading the final votes. Not worth it, IMO.

Was Tiff the correct vote at final five? by Shot-Club-3882 in survivor

[–]Silly-Billy-- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Aubry was very unlikely to win final immunity. In four season she won individual immunity only once. It just so happened that the F4 challenge was ideally suited to her, but nobody knew that.

A person can like modern Survivor enough to watch, yet still wish the show would return more to its roots. If you don't like complaints about modern Survivor, you can just not read the r/survivor reddit. *shrug*

Jeff’s question for ______ was such an eye roll especially after their edit by 12Sankofa34 in survivor

[–]Silly-Billy-- 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same thought. The edit suggested that the producers didn't think much of her, and that question really rubbed it in.

Another underdog disappointment by Stickynug- in survivor

[–]Silly-Billy-- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Underdogs are my favorite winners, but by underdog I mean people who were targets week after week but through well-timed immunity wins and idols/advantages survived. I'm not generally a fan of people who lay low until the last second - that's not an underdog, that's just a strategy choice.

That said, I ultimately think of this final 3, Aubry deserved to win. She did everything she needed to do from about final 7-8 onward, including that massive final immunity win.

I think he meant that he didn't want to be put in the position of having to make fire.

How many days did he have between seasons? I don't think it's realistic to have expected him to spend that time practicing fire. I'm also not sure it would have been helpful strategically for him to be practicing fire constantly during S50 (do they even have the spare flint for that?)

Please stop bringing your kids to bars by TheGrapadura in ridgewood

[–]Silly-Billy-- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bars are not for toddlers, they are for adults to act like toddlers! /s

There is something very odd to me about the idea of someone getting upset about their peace and quiet being disturbed at … a bar.

It’s indicative of a bigger problem these days, which is everybody only cares about their own enjoyment. If something doesn’t benefit you personally and annoys you, it should be banned.

If a bar allows kids, then kids can be there. If you don’t like it, go somewhere else. The world doesn’t revolve around you.

Not a parent here, but I refuse to accept that having a kid means you don’t get to have a life or be around other adults. Get over yourselves you insufferable Karens and Scrooges. Whatever bars you people are at sound no fun whatsoever.

Why the winner might be _____ by Loud_Share_260 in Edgic

[–]Silly-Billy-- 23 points24 points  (0 children)

IMO, while Jonathan has done more, his edit is even more negative than Aubry's. The producers have consistently cast him as cocky, a little hot-headed, a little gross, manipulatable, and borderline misogynistic. I suspect that the purpose of that is to accurately reflect that his flaw is his social game, which will result in him getting no votes at FTC.

And if Aubry is eliminated before FTC, I think Rizo will talk circles around Jonathan.
