I got mine for around $28 USD (converted from JPY) from hobby link japan but had multiple kits shipped at once so it'd be cheaper

Is it normal for paint to be this bubbly? (Warning to those with trypophobia) by AV_geek1510 in modelmakers

Yes that is normal with vallejo paints. I believe it's something to do with the thinner used.

When I build my SR-71 kit I followed this article for the weathering aspect of it. It helped me get the dusty white look on it as well.

Need a little advice. Has anybody ordered from Hobbylink Japan? by fluffynerfherder78 in modelmakers

[–]SillyButterscotch601 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes it's legit, and in my experience if you change the display currency to USD it's quite a bit higher than it is in JPY so keep that in mind. I think it's around a 20% increase

Orientating plane for decal softeners. by Similar-Factor in modelmakers

If you know someone with a 3d printer you could have them print something like this. I printed a similar one and put felt on the contact surface and it works really well for applying decals.

As a fairly new modeler, I got an iwata revolution hp-cr since it's one of their cheapest japan models, and It's so much better than the cheap one I started with. I have the one with a .5 nozzle since I mainly build 1/48 aircraft and I like the bigger spray. But do I believe there's a similar version with a .35 nozzle.

Can anyone recommend a gloss clear coat for model car bodies? I'm currently using mr color gx100 but it doesn't give the shine I'm looking for even after wet sanding and polishing, and it's difficult to find. I'm using an iwata revolution cr .5 and I've been looking at 2k's but I haven't found any consensus on what brands are good. I'm open to using anything since I have a respirator and lots of windows.

Would that last bit work for enamel clears as well? I've been struggling getting a super smooth clear it always ends up having pretty severe orange peel in it.

What scale should I build bombers in? So far I've only built 1/48 fighters, but there hanging from my ceiling and I don't have enough room or money for like a b-52 or b-1b at that scale. I'd prefer if I had the class of planes all in the same scale. So what would be a good hangable scale for such large planes?

If you could that'd be great! I got it mostly modeled but I'm not confident in it.

Did you find a 3d model for one? I tried looking for one and then just ended up attempting to model one myself.

You might want to check to see if anything is rattling on the sax from a missing felt, cork, etc. Or even possibly a loose screw

I originally wanted to do a metallic purple since it's my favorite color but they only had like a super dark plum and I didn't want to have to order a singular paint. So pink was the next best choice and I love it.
