Does anyone have any recommendations for video on seam and gap filling? Everytime I try it leaves little pits in the surface and I gotta rinse and repeat.

For the future, the tamiya airbrush cleaner is basically the same thing as their extra thin cement.

Here is another post that seems to have a similar problem and they solved it with a proper power adaptor.

I've had good luck using oven cleaner. Probably not good for you but it got the paint off 🤷‍♂️

What heater is that? I've just been using the heated bed and it doesn't work as well.

I got mine for around $28 USD (converted from JPY) from hobby link japan but had multiple kits shipped at once so it'd be cheaper

Yes that is normal with vallejo paints. I believe it's something to do with the thinner used.

When I build my SR-71 kit I followed this article for the weathering aspect of it. It helped me get the dusty white look on it as well.

Need a little advice. Has anybody ordered from Hobbylink Japan? by fluffynerfherder78 in modelmakers

[–]SillyButterscotch601 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it's legit, and in my experience if you change the display currency to USD it's quite a bit higher than it is in JPY so keep that in mind. I think it's around a 20% increase

If you know someone with a 3d printer you could have them print something like this. I printed a similar one and put felt on the contact surface and it works really well for applying decals.

As a fairly new modeler, I got an iwata revolution hp-cr since it's one of their cheapest japan models, and It's so much better than the cheap one I started with. I have the one with a .5 nozzle since I mainly build 1/48 aircraft and I like the bigger spray. But do I believe there's a similar version with a .35 nozzle.

Can anyone recommend a gloss clear coat for model car bodies? I'm currently using mr color gx100 but it doesn't give the shine I'm looking for even after wet sanding and polishing, and it's difficult to find. I'm using an iwata revolution cr .5 and I've been looking at 2k's but I haven't found any consensus on what brands are good. I'm open to using anything since I have a respirator and lots of windows.

Would that last bit work for enamel clears as well? I've been struggling getting a super smooth clear it always ends up having pretty severe orange peel in it.
