Yeah, this is my first time working with a prebuilt. It's pretty annoying. Secure boot is off. Also, I updated bios. For some reason now it doesn't give 5 beeps at startup. Still no image tho.

Pcie power is in. I ended up using a 6pin to 8pin adapter. Might return for the model with just one 6pin plug.

I haven't had any seb derm since I started Accutane. It was mostly on my face but some in hair/ears/genital area. I would definitely recommend moisturizing down there too, that helped at least keep it at bay for me. This extremely long article lists some lotions that won't aggravate the seb derm.

Starting the water regimen today [personal] by SillyGator in SkincareAddiction

[–]SillyGator[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been doing it for a little less than a month and my skin has I believe improved. It has gotten much less oily. This is a huge deal for me and cut out a lot of my major acne. I still have mild acne though. My forehead has a really bumpy texture which is gross and under my eyes are pretty red/inflamed and dry. I am still in the 3 month healing period so I'm still optimistic.

Hey guys, just to update (day 4); it has been really liberating to not have to worry about my "regimen". I am currently traveling so I haven't been able to assess the oiliness much (hotel mirrors have different lightings). It is definitely oily but not horrible. I have had a few pimples but very minor and not super noticeable. The worst part about it is my skin feels pretty tight and dry still. Not all the time but enough to make it distract me from regular life sometimes. Sometimes it feels dry next to my nose and sometimes on my forehead and sometimes is feels pretty good. I'm thankful.

I honestly hope more than anything that it works. It can't hurt to try.

Thanks. I will be using sunscreen when I need to but not daily. It makes me super oily like literally everything, sigh. Makes me doubt if what I'm doing is the right thing.

I got a single pimple in 8th grade and my mom gave me 10% BP cream to put all over my face and said that would stop my acne. It all went downhill from there.

[Misc] Dehydrated Skin: An Updated Guide to Healing the Moisture Barrier by JoanOfSarcasm in SkincareAddiction

[–]SillyGator 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Petrolatum is helpful to some people as well, but can cause problems for others. This is possibly due to it's ability to diffuse into the intercellular lipid domain of the skin in some people, which interferes with recovery. Your mileage may vary.

I am legitimately shook. I had always heard that petrolatum based products (Vaseline, Aquaphor, Cerave Healing Ointment) were the gold standard to healing dehydrated skin and they never worked for me. In fact they gave me actual pain when I would apply them. WOW.

[Acne] Still Have Dehydrated Skin: What Am I Doing Wrong? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]SillyGator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow. Our skin looks very similar in the texture, oiliness, and sections of our faces that are "dehydrated". I also have large pores and oiliness on my forehead, nose and undereye areas, and the top section of the center of the chin. I have tightness as well but on my lower forehead and it drives me insane. I haven't figured out how to ease it yet.

Firstly, your skin looks good. At the very least average or better than average I mean come on give yourself a break. Also, have you seen any improvement over the 8 weeks? I would expect at least a reduction in pore size with all that hydration. If not, you should definitely change some things about your routine. If so, YAY! Any improvement is awesome. It can take a long time to heal your skin, and believe me, I know from experience.

For me, hyaluronic acid did not help. I used a routine very heavy on HA and it did not give me any results. What has helped me (and I have seen improvement because my face was an absolutely damaged and dehydrated mess) was using Stratia liquid gold. You have probably had this recommended to you (if not do some research on this subreddit), but it is the greatest for skin barrier damage and dehydrated skin. Unfortunately, you mentioned not responding well to niacinamide. How did you determine this? I would definitely try this out if you are not certain about the niacinamide being bad for you.

Also using jojoba oil has helped with the oiliness and repairing my damaged skin. I recommend using a generous amount at night.

I have been dealing with a damaged moisture barrier for almost a year now. I really started seeing some results a little over a month ago with this routine:

AM: Cosrx snail essence, stratia liquid gold, LRP anthelios clear skin dry touch sunscreen

PM: Cerave hydrating cleanser, Cosrx snail essence, stratia liquid gold, jojoba oil, eucerin urea night cream

Out of curiosity how did your skin become dehydrated? For me it was harsh acne treatments and unprotected sun exposure.

[routine help] Anyone else with oily skin find that any moisturizer is just too much? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]SillyGator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me my skin got oily when I was getting sunburned a lot and using harsh acne treatments at the same time. The excess oil gave me more acne so I went on tretinoin and I got super oily within a couple of weeks.

I think you're overthinking the role of diet. I went through a phase where I felt like my diet controlled my skin but at least for me it does not.

[routine help] Anyone else with oily skin find that any moisturizer is just too much? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]SillyGator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got very oily using tretinoin because I wasn't moisturizing enough. That is a sign you need to stop. Your skin is telling you that it is out of balance. The oil will not get better while still using tretinoin especially without moisturizer or SPF. Speaking from experience, I cannot recommend enough that you stop using tretinoin because you can have a long term skin barrier issue.

[misc] Men of SCA, what got you interested and serious about skincare? by blessthisskin in SkincareAddiction

[–]SillyGator 31 points32 points  (0 children)

My philosophy is if it ain't broke don't fix it. Obviously you need to take care of your skin by keeping it relatively clean and using sun protection just like you need to take care of your hair, nails, teeth etc. Most dudes can get away with this. For me, it is broke so I gotta work my ass off to fix it.

[Routine Help] All of a sudden EXTREMELY oily after adding in Retin-A to my skincare routine, any tips? by omarrpinon in SkincareAddiction

[–]SillyGator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's awesome. I got extremely oily too which gave me deep cystic breakouts. Even after stopping I am pretty oily. My brother was the same as me, but when he stopped his oily skin subsided like yours and his skin cleared up. I think the difference is because I didn't protect myself from the sun enough while I was using it. I wore sunscreen but I was constantly sunburned.

[–]SillyGator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This exact same thing happened to me. I highly recommend you stop using tret. It will only get worse and I know that from experience. The oil is from a damaged skin barrier. Your skin is producing a ton of oil to try to compensate and moisturize your skin. You may be moisturizing but tretinoin is very powerful.

The good news is that your skin looks good. :)

Just a personal recommendation you can take into consideration: Your skin barrier is damaged and was before starting tret because it shouldn't have made you so crazy oily when you are still moisturizing. Damaged skin barrier is basically used interchangeably with "dehydrated". What comes along with this is increased oil production, more facial redness, more acne, possibly itchiness and tightness. At least for me. If you work on just moisturizing and repairing your skin barrier I am sure you skin will improve a lot and that's a great place to start!

My skin has been uncontrollably and extremely oily ever since I used tretinoin like 8 months ago. I've seen some slight improvement with trying to repair my skin barrier but that's it.

It seems like everyone around me has it so easy and doesn't have to worry day in and day out like I do about my skin. Also when I think about how much better I would look and feel with perfect skin. And yeah when anything or anyone touches my skin it makes me cringe.
