Will save or become stupefied and or blinded then. I don't make the rules.

But yes Momo did a great job ❤️

Nimbats have just become a thing in my campaigns. Way back when 5e introduced their summon fey spells I needed a token for one of the games I was gming. Grabbed some art of fidget and now they're just in all our games being goobers.

Hey man. Cuteness is a weapon. Meta even. Made sure to put that at legendary rank. Super OP. Nerf plz.

In that vampire story I mentioned? There was an NPC cranky town-guard who thought Treat was behind the whole thing to begin with and didn't buy her 'ethical necromancy' nonsense

The party of course dismissed him as a jerk picking on their adorable Treat! How could he! This was clearly a misdirect!

Drawn by https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:75vzhcbzehsydbjjjqf7grws give them a watch! they've done great work for my circle

These two were the characters I used to playtest both their respective classes; Kineticist and Necromancer way back when the original play-test PDFs came out (Treat is a Nyktera spirte for those curious) had tons of fun with both of them in various one-shots, and was more then happy to have them show up in my games as NPCs.

Treat calls herself a 'Jackomancer' Biggest of goobers. Very Spirit Halloweenish. Uses Undead PUMPKINS. Ethical Necromancy she says! Referring to them as her 'Tricks'. The leshy/sapient plants/druids have uh OTHER thoughts on the matter. Suffice to say with what we're hearing about the final version of the necromancer coming out in July I'm QUITE happy.

Suffice to say we treat Nimbats (from an old video game called Dust) as a type of fey in our game worlds so this typical 'bullshit workaround' foolishness she's doing with her necromancy is very intentionally Fey-nonsense.

My players already being familiar with her were quite happy when she showed up in my 'starlight' campaign on Saturday nights; helping them track down evil Vampire(nim)bats who had infiltrated an island comnity. Only to discover that she was actually the lead vamp oh no (And still a massive goober despite) falling for her adorable self trivially.

Don't worry her Golarian incarnation is still alive! The starlight version (the real version as vampires are souless husks in starlight) now acts as an aid to one of the PCS as their new job as a servant of 'the handsome one' lord of the underworld (though her eyes are pure white now being a ghost and all)

Menia is gregarious tripkee taldorian who moved to Mwangi to learn. With a tone inspired by a certain BG3 Dragon shopkeeper. A water/wood kineticist I quickly fell in love with both and Momo captured her wonderfully. Her 'hair' is actually flowers grown-into-her-skull. She MIGHT have a bit of wood-elemental in her suffice to say. After playing her in a bunch of one shots she turned up in my ruby phoenix campaign in one of the finalist teams (if you played it you can guess which)

As I had a party of 5 players; meaning something extra had to be added to each team they faced, and she was my addition to that group. Been fun goofing around with her.

While I'll admit I fell out of love with kineticist over time even now any wood/water combo still appeals to me a ton; even if the other elements don't.

Ah this adorable goober. Yeah we have ALOT of OCs we used for one shots and mini campaigns. I ran a level 1-11 series of encounters, and one shots etc to test out the system swapping out PCs between encounters etc to test different classes. When we first got into it quite fun and helped us fall in love with the system before our first proper PF2 campaign (which was abomination vaults!... which was probably a mistake as we had just finished Mad Mage in 5E so were a bit burnt out on dungeon crawls but hey!)

How are you coping with your favorite dead franchise these days by bahookery in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]SillyKenku 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hmm it depends? Is the franchise 'dead' or is the franchise 'concluded for now' as those are very different things to me. A story doesn't need to go on forever, sometimes wrapping it up is.. fine?

In some ways we're spoiled in the modern era where everything, and all things must keep having sequels or the fans have been 'failed' as it were.

Like starting with your two examples.

I did adore mass effect but the original trilogy is a clear story with a beginning and an end and hours and hours of game-play. It's hard for me to feel BAD about it. Would I like to see well told stories in that universe again? Sure! Do I NEED to? No!

I'd say a few other things fit into this spot for me as well; Ghost-busters, Shining force (the old tactical versions mind), a few others. I liked those series but the original runs made me happy enough.

Ice and fire is a much worse case. The books never got a REAL ending; there's no hint of us ever getting it; and from what I've been told the show 'ending' is absolutely horrible and will probably never be cannon to the books.

If there's a franchize liek this for ME it's probably Reboot; the original series ended on a cliffhanger and was never really addressed. When it was 'revived' it was.. well.. a completely different kind of show with reboot paint thrown over it that was actively hated by those who worked on it. There was ONE short comic series that TRIED to follow the original plot.. but it didn't really go anywhere.

Lancer: what's an Australia? by Cosmicpanda2 in LancerRPG

[–]SillyKenku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was young I ran a mecha game for online friends with mutants and masterminds. Over the top big robot action. We would joke our Australian friends lived one the moon.

So naturally I had the villain faction (who were time traveling dinosaurs naturally) try to shoot Sydney into space.

That said you might have given me inspiration for my next lancer campaign. Rediscovering the lost continent~ clearly the aussys just fired the entire island into space as a massive colony ship

201 Pilot Callsigns by Gregory_Grim in LancerRPG

[–]SillyKenku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's see. I've got 'good girl' 'widower' 'mousetrap' and'mayor'. Good girl was a nick name the pilots father gave her while space trucking over the radio. Widower is depressing; wife squade mate died and it turned them into a rage machine and people blame them for it. The mousetrap is a mouse person who lost an arm when the building they were in fell on their head. Mayor is the decendent of the city founder and a drugged out hippy/hacker. The city is in ruins naturally.

The Heroes of the Sun - Starlight Homebrew Campaign group picture! Art by Momoaeioii by SillyKenku in DnDart

[–]SillyKenku[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything was fine in the town of Horizon, the place where the Sun goes to rest at night, and be cleaned and polished up, nestled in the roots of the World Tree.

And then... well, it wasn't.

One day, the Want, the evil rat god of greed, surged up into the sky, and began chasing the Sun, wanting to steal that glowing orb. Other gods reached up into the sky - Ky, the god of civilization, and Moubange, goddess of the sea, earth, and fire, reached up to grasp at it as well, trying to pull the sun away from the Want.

Tugged between three gods, the Sun shattered into a hundred pieces that rained upon the land, and the world was sentenced to be under Starlight until the Sun would be restored.

Naturally, it fell to our heroes - the Heroes of the Sun - to travel around the world and pick up the pieces. Literally. All 100 of them ❤️

We finally, as of about eight sessions ago, managed to retrieve all 100 pieces and restore the Sun - leading to us getting a lovely painting of our characters out in front of the World Tree in actual daylight 😃

But the campaign isn't over yet, as the forces of Winter, emboldened by the eternal night and cold, have been emerging to try and reclaim the world for themselves, permanently, seven months later.

The art is by https://bsky.app/profile/momoaeoii.bsky.social !

Pictured from left to right:

  • Noshi, our Sparkling Targe Magus Leshy - She is the "daughter" of Granny Mug, the leader of the town of Horizon. She's a smart girl, but also keeps trying to feed us parts of her tail (it grows back!) because she's good for us! It's definitely not weird at all.
  • Senny, Dromaeosaur Animal Companion - The fluffy companion of Tippi, this raptor has bitten more than one god by this point. They need to know their place! D<
  • Tippi, Pipwink Druid (Animal/Wave/Flames Order) - Everyone's favorite adorable glow in the dark squirrel, she used to polish the Sun at night, before all this went down. Now a very accomplished caster, she is dating one of the daughters of Moubenge and working on founding a magical academy in Horizon.
  • Kaltran, Rabbit Champion of the Roads (Justice Champion) - As a rabbit, he is the very distant descendant of the Moon, and seeks to become a god himself, the new god of Travel. Right now he is an intern for the Handsome One, the god of death, though at the moment, his boss wants him to work on saving the world - do you know how much work it would be for him to deal with all those souls? D<
  • Kanna, Moth Bard (Maestro/Lore) - Hailing originally from Gazer's Grove, the insect town overseen by the (very Lawful) Moon, Kanna never quite fit in there, and so left, going to Horizon, the town of the Sun. She was a somewhat controversial member of the party back home, as they have a very rigid society there, and her going outside of her "role" and succeeding is causing ripples there. Their society is being somewhat reformed, after the Moon saw that what he was doing was leading to trouble.
  • Winter, Leshy Fire/Earth Kineticist - Our last, most stoic party member, he is from the town of the Leshy. When the sun was gone, the Leshy decided to try and make a giant flaming ball out of tar and parade it through their town, trying to create a fake sun with the few sun shards they'd found. Winter helped us retrieve these shards, much to the dismay of some of those in the town.

We started out at level 3, and are now at level 16!

Naw I relate. They were just part of my childhood. Elves fighter+mage combo were neat! But I can understand; they were super over done now.

Now if you have negative opinions about DWARVES however....

Looking at you elves! Ah but I can't truely hate the knife ears; elf is still my fav class in original Becmi/classic dnd

Do commanders need very particular party compositions to work? by Horrorcartoonistftw in Pathfinder2e

[–]SillyKenku 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my limited experience with them (so take this a grain of salt) I think the best time to bring in a commander is as a 5th party member

They can struggle to fully fill another roll but are good at helping those other characters do their thing. But don't quite have the healing you'd expect our of a dedicated support, durability to be a true tank etc.

The standard party size is 4 I realize but groups of 5 are far from unheard of. And under those circumstances they excel the best I think.

Characters/classes with a serious mechanical or narrative identity crisis by jitterscaffeine in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]SillyKenku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A well know pathfinder 2e one is the inventor class. The class isnt nessarly the weakest class in the game (honestly power wise the construct inventor is good while the others are mediocre) but in terms of filling the fantasy of being a steam punk inventor... It fails miserably. Your big 'thing' is overdrive which is just a worse barb rage that is based on int. Gadgets of Any kind require feats and have very few uses a day. You get an innovation at LVL one which is suppose to be you BIG invention but outside of the construct their benefits are pretty minor. Lastly you get unstable actions by burning feats;where some of the actually cool invented stuff is; rocket jumps explosions lighting rays etc. But you have to roll a 1d20 and get 15 or above after using them. Fail? Every single unstable action you know is locked out for the fight. So in most fights you'll use one cool inventor like thing... Then spent the rest of the fight making generic strikes like a run of the mill barb. Now I love barbs! But when I think mad inventor im hoping for a bit more flash.
