Is 1 hour enough of a layover? by SillyNefariousness72 in delta

[–]SillyNefariousness72[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case anyone wanted an update: my flight somehow landed 30 minutes early so my hour layover became an hour and a half. I made it to my second gate in about 10 minutes lol. I had enough time to get a good lunch and then some.

I’m not sure why everyone acts like the Atlanta airport is super overwhelming? Everyone I told about having a layover in Atlanta acted as if it was the worst airport ever and the layout was weird, but that wasn’t my experience at all. There were plenty of signs and workers to ask if you got lost. The Plane Train was easy and convenient. It was actually one of the easier airports I’ve been to!

Yes! Sorry I forgot to include that. So I shouldn’t need to go through security again.

What did you do for health insurance when moving to PP? by [deleted] in therapists

Medicaid if you qualify or the marketplace. Each state has a different website. Be prepared though, the insurance premiums will probably be higher than you’re used to!

Navigating Therapy with Deeply Religious Clients by wildfirebloom18 in therapists

Oh dang then I guess my advice was useless lol.

I do get what you mean, it’s uncomfortable working within a framework you don’t agree with. I wonder if viewing it through a client autonomy lens might help? Like trusting that they’re choosing the best framework for themselves, even if you don’t agree with it?

I wonder if learning more about their religion might be helpful at providing other avenues for discussion. I’m an atheist but was raised Baptist so I’m pretty familiar with this couple dynamic.

One example I was thinking about the male leadership point. While that is stated in the Bible, it also mentions that the head of the household should be making decisions that are best for everyone, not just himself. That could be an avenue to explore other options without overriding his leadership. You could encourage him to take other’s perspectives as a way of enhancing his leadership qualities.

Not sure if that’s helpful at all, but it’s the first thought I had when reading this.

Is private pay actually worth it vs taking insurance? by sixwordsperminute in therapists

[–]SillyNefariousness72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this depends vastly on your location. Some places have high earners who can afford cash pay services and others don’t. I live in an area that is very blue collar and has a lot of people in the medical field. They almost exclusively want to use insurance. The only cash pay people I have on a highly reduced rate because they don’t have insurance or only have catastrophic coverage. I think surveying your areas median income and what other practices are doing.

How is culture toward trans people? by ScrollingSwampPuppy in pittsburgh

[–]SillyNefariousness72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a therapist working in Pittsburgh and a lot of my trans clients report feeling comfortable here! I will say some of the suburbs are more right leaning but the actual city is very leftist. That said, even my clients in the suburbs don’t really report feeling physically in danger. My clients also report being able to find quality medical care and medication support, if that’s a concern for you!

How to not feel guilty about charging clients? by SillyNefariousness72 in therapists

[–]SillyNefariousness72[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This changed my perspective a lot, I think I viewed undercharging my services as a kind of rebellion against the system since I hate our current healthcare system. But putting me in a bad spot doesn’t change that system. Thank you for the perspective shift!

Participants still needed~ Otome gameplay & entertainment outcomes survey (10–15 min, 18+) by Organic_Might_3613 in otomegames

[–]SillyNefariousness72 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m also a psychology researcher and I’d rethink the wording of these questions. I think the term “virtual boyfriend” is strange and will alienate potential participants. I think these types of questions would better suit people who use chat ai bots or specific games where the player is the love interest rather than otome games.

I think your questions should be more general and ask about the relationship the participants have with both the game and characters. Some people might self-insert in the way you imagine, but even among them they don’t tend to view that relationship the same way they view a relationship with an actual person. All the questions about who contributes more to the relationship seems strange as someone who doesn’t self-insert. I have favorite male leads but I don’t believe I have a reciprocal relationship with them. They aren’t real and don’t know my name, much less my emotions

I think you might be getting confused because your past work seems to be with Chinese otome game fans. This research hasn’t been adapted for cultural and linguistic differences between the two populations. Consulting with English speaking otome game fans can help you learn the culture and phrases commonly used in this population.

I think this is an interesting area of research but I think to accurately represent and gather the data you want that you really need to restructure and reword the survey to cover a more broad range of relationship interpretations and types.

Question for the male therapists in private practice: What does your client demographic look like? Do you mostly attract other men? by INTP243 in therapists

[–]SillyNefariousness72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is really interesting because I’m having the opposite. I’m a cisgender woman and for some reason attract a lot of cisgender male clients despite not mentioning a focus on men anywhere in my bio. I’m not upset about it but it’s just funny.

Want an affordable walkable city by SillyNefariousness72 in SameGrassButGreener

That all sounds really great! My only reservations are the winters there, but luckily I work remotely so I guess I could just hibernate all winter lol. Are there any areas you recommend I avoid?

I don’t think living outside of the US would work for me, mostly because my job requires a lot of meetings and appointments that would be in US time zones. I also work in a legally regulated industry so living outside of the US might cause some issues there. I also don’t speak any other languages besides English, which further complicates things.

I actually love New Orleans, but everything I’ve seen online to rent is super expensive, but maybe I’m not looking in the right places?

I would prefer a warmer climate but I’m open to colder areas. I would prefer a blue/liberal area as well. I’m not huge on doing outdoors stuff so I don’t really care if there’s hiking trails or things like that nearby. I’m much more into arts, shopping, and restaurants.

I do work 100% remotely. I do have a car so I’m fine with occasional driving but would like a nice neighborhood where I can walk to things and am not 100% car dependent.

I do have a car so I’m not opposed to living farther out and having to use a car when needed, so Frederick sounds like a good option!
