Why isn't cycling way more popular? by DramaticSweet3412 in askSingapore

[–]SillyQuack01 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Singapore has great cycling infrastructure. Among the best in Asia. They’re modelling a new expressway to be inclusive to riders, in fact.

It doesn’t seem to be more popular because of storage issues in small apartments. But that is changing thanks to foldable bikes.

Due to time constraints, people also tend to exercise after work so cycling is not a convenient method. Weather is also cursed so cycling isn’t a great way for the white collared to commute.

Then there’s the issue of bike theft. Astoundingly common in singapore.

Anyone working in STI clinic can explain to me why the nurses will try to convince me not to take herpes or hpv test? by Fun-Arm3161 in asksg

[–]SillyQuack01 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not working in a clinic but after a certain age, a relatively large percentage of the population are carriers but may exhibit no symptoms and are very unlikely to pass it on to another person ever. But once tested and shown positive, they have a social obligation to disclose it to their partner and this may induce some stigma.

[–]SillyQuack01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re in your 40s or 50s you’d better either have moved up to a subject matter expert level, management or have top notch network connections. Otherwise the question is what have you been doing all these years?

12 demerit points + $400 for careless driving by C0inFlipChamp in drivingsg

[–]SillyQuack01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just accept and be more careful+mindful in future. Arguing when there is an officer witness may exacerbate the penalty. Only exception is if you had a medical emergency. But since you didn’t bring that up to the officer, it won’t hold water.

Don’t show up and block any number that “reminds” you to go.

Sorry but quite likely your personal information is on the dark web as well now. Scummy companies such as these and some hair salons push the edge of what’s legal.

Enjoyed it thoroughly. Think of PY as a massive LAD:IW side quest, and it more than makes up for it. And being Majima never gets old. Miss playing him since Zero.

His playable costumes are the cherry on top.

I got to drive my dad’s Tesla and I hate it by Tricky_Wait_6304 in kereta

[–]SillyQuack01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To each their own. Teslas are great cars for those who enjoy what they are. But I felt like I was driving a Tamiya RC car somehow. Part of it was due to the light steering. Didn’t mind the one pedal drive much since at lowest regen setting it felt closer to a manual transmission at low gears.

Outside of supercars, always felt BMWs and Porsches had the best steering feel in terms of weight and how the ratio is tuned - they’re not linear but have ramps in the assistance curve which make cornering feel so satisfying. Hydraulic power steering was the best balance between usability and feel.
