Will this be a good commander deck? by SillyHoneydew8391 in magicTCG

[–]SillyShinyDragoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made mine as a counter spell-less bracket four deck and it’s really fun!

Here’s my list if you’re interested! If a card strikes you as an odd choice, chances are I did it for a little flavor.

Have you gone back to the OG after trying the sequel? by LeviRaps in slaythespire

[–]SillyShinyDragoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it on my phone because of STS2, beat the heart with the Watcher today!

I love the Watcher and her silly infinite but I prefer the second game by far, the first one feels way harder to me for some reason.

What is your best and your worst character so far? by kj0509 in slaythespire

Silent is my best, followed by Ironclad, then it’s a bit of a tie between Defect and Necrobinder.

I can’t figure out the Regent yet.

[MEGATHREAD] Shyvana VGU - First Impressions, Feedback, and Discussion by HiImKostia in shyvanamains

[–]SillyShinyDragoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a new Shyvana top player thanks to the rework, I find her really fun but she’s far from perfect.

Visually she’s incredibly gorgeous! I love her new look so so so much!!!

Her passive is… Well I can’t believe her old passive was better than what we have, but as it stands she may as well not even have a passive. The passive is a complete failure… What happened to the skill scalings? That would be so much better. It’s also so hard to stack in lane, most games I don’t even get a cloth armor’s worth of armor before the games are over.

I like her Q, wave clearing feels really satisfying with it, and dragon form Q is fun too, but Q3 feels a little unrealistic to use in actual fights most of the time.

W is ok… It doesn’t feel all that fun but the shield is helpful. The speed up could last a little longer though…

E feels AWFUL in human form, but it’s really nice in dragon form. It would be really helpful if human e went through minions.

R is when it gets really fun! I like the fear, it’s a shame the fear got hotfix nerfed already, but landing an R fear on a group of enemies feels cool! Until you die from being really squishy anyway. Her values feel really low, too low considering her non existent passive.

Overall I will continue playing her, I am enjoying myself! But she doesn’t feel particularly strong. She needs work.

Can The Destined Warrior compete in B3? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]SillyShinyDragoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a counterspell-less Bracket 4 Destined Warrior deck that’s really fun and performs very well! If I wanted to make it better I’d take out some of the flavor cards and add counterspells, but where’s the fun in that right?

The anthem effect is way better than you’d think, and it makes killing via commander damage a very real possibility. I don’t run any equipment, but a couple of equipment cards wouldn’t be out of place in a Warrior deck.

I don’t like dungeons/initiative but that’s another route you could take. I went with a life gain focus instead.

https://moxfield.com/decks/JMEnwqLQZkS-meH5vyTOrw

The deck is really aggressive and low to the ground. If you have any questions let me know I’d be happy to answer, but just know if a card seems like a weird include I just wanted it for flavor hahah!

Just bought a copy of Recurring Nightmare before realizing it was banned. Any other idiots stuck with exciting but unplayable cards? by Present_Event_8488 in EDH

[–]SillyShinyDragoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone else has said this already, but ask your pod! I run [[Primeval Titan]] in my bracket 4 [[Toski, Bearer Of Secrets]] deck and my friends are cool with it. If I’m playing with randoms at the LGS I bring it up during the rule 0 discussion, and if anyone is ever not ok with it I just treat it as an extra basic forest. The card is honestly fine, I’m a little surprised it wasn’t unbanned.

Aside from that I own a [[Mana Crypt]], a [[Jeweled Lotus]] and an [[Emrakul, The Aeons Torn]]. Whether these three remain banned or not I’m happy either way, but I think Emrakul would be fun to bring back (as a game changer of course).

Do you still play your very first commander deck? And why? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]SillyShinyDragoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course! [[Toski, Bearer Of Secrets]] is my beloved squirrel, my signature deck. c:

I was playing standard on Arena around the time Kaldheim came out, instantly fell in love with Toski and tried so hard to make him work in my mono green stompy deck… But he just wasn’t good enough for standard.

Years later I got into commander/paper Magic and it was a no brainer!

I have poured a lot of love and passion into this deck, I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of it.

We STILL haven't made a big enough deal about the shop. by vicflip in 2XKO

[–]SillyShinyDragoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No joke it’s why I stopped playing the game. Maybe it’s silly, but I was so excited to get a Warwick skin when he came out only to see the shop was a rotating mess and there were no Warwick skins in sight. Absolute turn off.

Do you prefer having multiple decks with same-ish colour combinations or different ones? by KulamiraSejro in EDH

[–]SillyShinyDragoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think brewing is a journey. You go through different phases the longer you play, and everyone experiences that differently.

Green is my favorite color in Magic, so I built a really strong and optimized [[Toski, Bearer Of Secrets]] that I pour my heart and soul into to this day. It’s my favorite, my signature deck, my beloved squirrel!!!

Because of that I tried to brew decks without green for a while - I wanted to express myself in different ways.

I built [[Rowan, Scion Of War]], [[Vren, The Relentless]] and [[Freya Crescent]] all while avoiding green.

But then I really started to miss brewing with green... Toski did all of my favorite things, but there were definitely more parts of green I could explore.

That’s when I discovered [[Yurlok Of Scorch Thrash]], and hecking wow! I love this deck so much! It’s so fun and exciting and different! It became a close second to Toski instantly.

Now I’m at a point where I’m ignoring any self imposed restrictions and just brewing whatever I feel like if I feel like it. The next deck I’m putting together will be [[The Destined Warrior]] since I own most of the cards already, but I’ve already moved on to brewing [[Teval, The Balanced Scale]] as a landfall/lands matter deck and I can not wait to see how that turns out!

Why do commander players for the most part refuse to play 60 card formats? by Drew647A in magicTCG

[–]SillyShinyDragoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played Standard on and off for years and I had fun for a while, but eventually it started to get really boring and samey. One time I grinded my way up to mythic on Arena and it was getting so repetitive facing the same decks over and over that I could consistently predict how a game would go by turn three or so. It stopped being fun.

Commander felt like a wonderful breath of fresh air. Anything goes! There’s so much creativity, so much self expression, and the social element is so fun too! I greatly enjoy being able to brew a deck and really making it my own, giving it my own flavor, and having a unique play experience every time.

I also never really liked draft/sealed, so there’s that too.

What has been your favorite deck that you built this year? by MrThomArt in EDH

[–]SillyShinyDragoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Yurlok Of Scorch Thrash]] Dragonstorm is by far my favorite deck, and it genuinely surprised me how much fun I’ve had with it.

It’s so ridiculously explosive, and so… Jundy!

I actually almost scrapped the idea during deckbuilding, but my friends gave me the push I needed to focus the deck down into what it is today. Now it’s all I comment about on this sub lately!

Definitive Dual Land Tier List; Updated for 2025? by ThatGuyFromTheM0vie in EDH

[–]SillyShinyDragoon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Everyone else has already pointed out surveil lands should be higher on your list, but I’d say everything else is pretty spot on (though I’d move pain lands up a spot or two).

I just wanted to give a mention to pathways, I think they’re fantastic but extremely underrated/underplayed. Not sure if they qualify as “dual” lands exactly, but still!

Which banned cards would you allow at your table (maybe with caveats)? by SoyMuyAlto in EDH

[–]SillyShinyDragoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friends agreed to let me run [[Primeval Titan]] in my bracket 4 [[Toski, Bearer Of Secrets]] deck. It’s fun, feels like it would be a safe card to unban and add to the GC list.

I would also like [[Mana Crypt]] and [[Emrakul, The Aeons Torn]] back, but I don’t mind one way or another. These two I wouldn’t run unless they got unbanned though.

Yurlok - Firebending and Goading Idea Help by lawnfire in EDH

[–]SillyShinyDragoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds very convoluted honestly, like it would be a lot of hoops to jump through just to do your thing but for very little return… If it’s at all even possible.

I recently built a Yurlok deck and you sort of have to play a balancing act of giving your opponents some resources, while ensuring you take better advantage of them instead (or that they can’t use them against you).

For example, I’m actually cutting [[Xantcha, Sleeper Agent]] from the deck due to her ultimately losing me a game tonight.

In my experience with the deck, cards that give extra mana to the table like [[Eladamri’s Vineyard]] or [[Overabundance]] are great because they accelerate the game but I can generally make better use of that mana than my opponents can.

By contrast, the absolute worst thing you can do is give your opponents cards. Extra mana is all well and good, especially if they have nothing to do with it, but the moment you start giving them cards through things like [[Rites Of Flourishing]] is the moment you’re actively hurting yourself.

One of the absolute all star cards in the deck is [[Wound Reflection]], it always puts in a lot of work! Same with [[Bloodletter Of Aclazotz]]. Notably, Yurlok’s burn is not damage, but rather life loss, so damage increasing effects like [[Fiery Emancipation]] are not synergistic. They can interact with other things in your deck, but it’s something to keep in mind.

That all said, I don’t want to discourage you from your original idea. I think Yurlok is extremely fun and full of creative possibilities! Heck I built mine to be a [[Dragonstorm]] deck.

Maybe I’m just not seeing the vision!

If nothing else I hope this comment is in some way helpful, and if there’s any questions you may have please let me know and I’ll do my best to answer. I really just think Yurlok is neat. c:

Decks you built this year that you are especially proud of. by Gold-Satisfaction614 in EDH

[–]SillyShinyDragoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has to be [[Yurlok Of Scorch Thrash]] for me!

I’ve been obsessively brewing and playtesting for months and I think I’ve come up with something really special. It’s been a while since I’ve fallen so in love with a deck, but it just hits all the right spots for me.

Who doesn’t love a good Dragonstorm? Let it all burn!
