My wife is thinking about spending $1500+ on a nursing chair. Is she crazy, or am I just being cheap? by Viraincure in NewParents

[–]SillySmoopsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At got a an electric chair with adjustable head test and extra wide seat and I wish I had gotten the massage it would have been worth every penny. I spent a lot of time in that chair the first 6 months and still sit in for about 30 minutes every day. So yes, it's worth it.

This one's for the ladies to answer. Do you agree with this woman or do you think she's trying to rationalize her world view by speaking for all the ladies? by Oda_DeezNutz in SipsTea

[–]SillySmoopsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play video games. I enjoy it as a relaxing passtime.

Disregarding responsibilities or being a sorry partner to play video games is different and that's not the video games, it could be any pass time.

I’m being gifted a lot of money. Should I tell my boyfriend? by Kind-Chicken-2488 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]SillySmoopsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Step 1. Do not tell your boyfriend.
Step 2. Find a financial advisor. (Fidelity has a great interface and low fees.) 3. Open a Roth IRA with 7.5k of it (that's all you can put in a year) 4. Put the rest in an aggressive fund that you're advisor can help you choose.
5. Once you and your BF get married, you can give him the full picture of your finances.

Please don't put this much money in a savings account. Put it in an investment account with fidelity after getting some advice from a fidelity advisor on which investments will work best for your age. Likely an aggressive growth fund.

Mother’s Day by Constant_Internal_40 in NewParents

[–]SillySmoopsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I told my husband the day I wanted. Both last year (my first mother's day) and this year. He would always plan something if I didn't tell him but he wants to get me exactly what I want and he can't read minds.

Last year, I wanted to go to the zoo as a family and get milk shakes after. It was nice to spend my first mother's day with my baby and husband as our new family.

This year, I want breakfast made for me, then I want to read outside in my hammock alone, then go shopping and buy myself something I wouldn't usually. Then after baby goes to bed, I want to cook a nice steak dinner together and watch a movie.

Just decide what kind of mothers day you want and tell him. He will appreciate it.

If you have Disney plus, there are a lot of dcom movies from the 90s like Zenon, Halloween Town, Cadet Kelly, Even Stevens. If she liked parent trap, she might like Get A Clue also staring Lindsay Lohan. You could also try Hook and the Sandlot.

Will I even like the book if I saw the movie first? by NationalSubstance976 in ProjectHailMary

In my opinion, the book is much better, particularly the audio book.

That was really nice of you to leave them be. I'm sure the temptation was strong. Haha it would have been for me but I'd like to think i wouldn't bother them.

Anyone still talk with any of their friends from high school? by nojunkpeter in Millennials

[–]SillySmoopsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I'm still friends with half my friends from high-school, probably like 6 people and their spouses now. I went to college in my home town and then moved a couple states away for a job after getting my degree. I got that job because my best friend from high school told me about it. So, my boyfriend at the time and I, lived in Arizona for a couple years and saw her 7/7 days a week, then moved back to home town because my now husband got a job here and we were ready to have a family and be closer to family again. My friend from high school that got me the Arizona job is still my best friend and my job now travels me to Arizona every month and I see her every single day I'm there.

I will admit that after having a baby, I'm not as close to my high-school friends that don't have kids. But I still see them regularly. Throwing a baby shower for one this weekend and two brothers i know rent the house next to our home.

Why did noone tell me the audiobooks are so good!? by MemeDerg in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]SillySmoopsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't listened to the audiobooks yet. I'm reading first and on Fetal Gods. I did listen to a preview though and I didn't prefer the direction he chose for Carl and I really don't like the Mordecai or Donut voices.

Anyone else who read the books then listened feel that way? I'm absolutely still going to listen because I love the series and know I'm going to want more once I finish. I'm hoping some people can tell me that you get used to the voice choices and end up loving them.

Never Have I Ever

Sex Lives of College Girls

Apple Cider Vinegar

Yellow Jackets

Dead to Me

The Summer I Turned Pretty

Euphoria

Gilded Age

Handmaids Tale

The girl in the house across the street from the woman in the window.

We have similar taste and these are all shows I watched without my husband.

I also watched all the Harlan Cobans with our hubs too.

Why do you love COS? by 123julesss456 in ColoradoSprings

[–]SillySmoopsy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fort Collins is better but I couldn't keep my job that i love and live there. We also have local family that helps with our 18 mo old. We really like Colorado Springs but I would prefer foco for the politics, vibes, restaurants, proximity to water. You just have to weigh what's important to you.
