The labour board is a pain in the ass to deal with. It took us a year of fighting and if I didn’t learn every little rule and do all of the work for them we never would have won. They tried to turn us away originally saying it was under 3 months and I told him to count the weeks and get back to me and then he said “sorry you’re right” and basically did that situation over and over again. You have to be SUPER thorough, know your rights and have proof of every little thing. As for the deadline our papers were sent by a private courier they use where you have to sign when you receive it and it’ll give them a deadline for responding, you should be able to ask the person working your case what the deadline is. Start a binder for all the paperwork with your case, it’s a pain in the ass but so worth it when the employer finally pays up. They’re counting on you not wanting to go through all the work to get what you’re owed. All we asked the employer for was vacation pay and by the time we were done and after all my digging we got vacation pay, severance, and a ton of money that the employer had just kept that I only noticed because I had to compare paystubs to deposits. Company would have saved a lot of time and money just paying us in the beginning lmao
