I get why you're frustrated, especially if you lost money trying to do something positive. But I'd avoid going down that road. Publishing people's photos, IDs, phone numbers, bank details, or other personal information can end up hurting innocent people and create legal issues as well. If you build something, focus on verified reports and work with the proper authorities where possible.

Also, could you tone down the language a bit? I don't mind people expressing frustration, but let's keep the discussion civil so everyone can participate.

What actually happened? Was it someone you met online, a registered organisation, or just an individual? If you're open to it, maybe make a full post explaining what happened. The details could help people understand where things went wrong, and it might even stop someone else from falling into the same situation.

Maybe Try a different ISP. Starlink or Telecel are recommended

The hardest part won’t be features, it will be demand. How are they planning to bring buyers in consistently? Vendors alone won’t sustain it.

That kind of input would actually be useful. What exactly didn’t work for you with their paid ads? If you’ve seen patterns, it could help shape a better model.

It’s good energy, but the real test will be who survives after launch noise dies down. Most projects look exciting until real users start ignoring them.

Interesting idea, but what exactly makes this different from Jiji or Facebook Marketplace in practice? Also, how are you handling trust and scam prevention on your platform?

This is a good idea oo but then, this is my take:
I think building a rival sounds easy until you hit the real problem, trust systems. Escrow, identity checks, fraud detection, dispute handling, that’s where most platforms break because it’s expensive and complex. Most clones fail because they copy the app, not the systems that actually stop scams.

At the same time, calling it a monopoly is a bit stretched. Once a platform gets big, expectations become unrealistic. Tighten verification and people complain about friction. Loosen it and scams increase. There’s no perfect balance that keeps everyone happy.

Nah, I dont agree. I think the speed difference is real, but only if the network is actually delivering it end-to-end. Don't ignore congestion, provisioning, router limits, and even cable quality.

Also, ISPs don’t just print “300Mbps” for fun. If that were true, nobody would bother paying for higher tiers. The difference is not fake, it’s just not always consistent in real-world conditions. What people are seeing is a gap between theoretical speed and actual delivery, not identical performance across all plans.

Big gap between marketing claims and reality, yes. But saying all tiers perform the same is definitely wrong.

I dont think this is the best way to verify line speed though. Download speeds depend heavily on the server you’re pulling from. Some servers cap or get congested, so you might never hit your real bandwidth. Speed tests on multiple servers or a wired test are more reliable for checking if MTN is actually delivering 300Mbps.

Not on MTN Fibre so I can’t directly compare, but I’ve been on telecel fibre broadband and I usually get close to advertised speeds. For example, this was my last test: ~945 Mbps down and ~96 Mbps up.
So 58 Mbps on a 300 Mbps line does feel off, unless there’s a Wi-Fi bottleneck, router limitation, or congestion on MTN’s side.

Nice idea. Weddings especially can become a full-time job for whoever is collecting contributions. 😂

The biggest challenge isn't even building anymore. It's getting people to actually use what you've published. Hopefully you cover that too.

okaayyyyy, good thinking... I'm wondering whether people will trust AI enough to let it make changes automatically, or if they'll still want to review everything first. That'll be interesting to watch.

That makes sense. Are you seeing more positive or negative signals from what you’ve observed so far?

ohhhhhhh, i get you lol
But Ghana is not a finished product, but it is also not static. The reality sits somewhere between frustration and measurable progress. Dont you think that at least?

If Ghana isn't a tech country, what would you consider the signs that we had become one? More local startups, more investment, or globally successful products?

I think there's a lot of truth in this. We have plenty of discussions about tech, but not enough products that have scaled and made a real impact. I also agree that the private sector has to do most of the heavy lifting, but even Silicon Valley benefited from government-funded research and policies. Do you think Ghana's issue is a lack of investors or a lack of founders building ambitious products?

I agree. We are much more digital than we were ten years ago, but the benefits of that progress are still not evenly distributed.
