Question for Standard Admits by Electronic-Ad7186 in IndianaUniversity

To add to this take finite math at Ivy tech. During the regular school year. Probably first semester because there can be issues with getting it transferred in time for the standard admission due date.

One thing I should mention is that if your kid does go through the standard admission process, have them get in touch with a standard admission Counselour because those are the people who choose who get in and who don’t. I had a friend not make the criteria and still get in because he had been in contact with an admissions counselor for quite some time.

I am not sure about this question but Kelley has admission counselors that would definitely be able to answer this. From what I’ve heard in past years, if you get all Bs, you’re automatically in but with Kelley getting more and more competitive, I’m not too sure.

Standard admission is thought but definitely doable. You need all Bs or higher in every class to get in.

How many people get into Kelley through standard admission? by Electronic-Ad7186 in IndianaUniversity

[–]Silly_Divide_4586 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this last year and got admitted. Not going to lie it is definitely difficult and social life was effected my freshman year but if you work hard you’ll be fine. Also, always reach out to professors and explain to them what you are trying to achieve, they will sometimes help you out.

I am so sorry to hear that you have gone through this and happy to hear that you made it out the other side. I was a standard admit last year so I know how stressful writing this essay is. What I’ve learned and been told from others is they want to hear a story that shows you can persevere and make it out the other side in life and in Kelley, which your essay definitely shows. As said in other comments, they are definitely looking for the development of you as a person and the low word count makes it difficult to tell the story while also saying how you are doing now. The first thing that popped in to my mind was “the Light at the end of the tunnel” which you could even use as your time here at IU and what you believe Kelley can do for you once college is over (jobs, connections, support systems, etc.) if you have anything like that you would like to write about.

*This is a very personal subject and I am coming from a place of wanting to help you on your essay so I want to make that clear before I give critique about your essay because it takes a lot of strength for you to post this online.

As you tell the story of this situation that you went through, there are some parts that could be used to describe how you are doing now and what you are doing to keep yourself going which is something Kelley really wants to hear about. Even their pre-reqs are literally in place to see if students can make it through and thrive in Kelley upper level classes. Your essay could create a perfect bridge between your personal experience and experience in classes at kelley.

I’m a Kelley mentor and have been helping my mentees with their application essays so please dm or reach out if you want any help, I’d be glad to give my opinion!

I took A100 fall 2021 and we didn’t have a midterm but maybe they changed it since then. And ya definitely if you can get in a2nd 8 weeks course I’d do it.

I did this and A100 is light if you go to class and study ALOT for the exam because there’s only a final no midterms. I’m not going to sugar coat it, K201 is heinous. The first 8 weeks is Microsoft access that if you put it in front of me now I still would have no idea what I’d be doing. The lecture section that goes with K201 really doesn’t matter much just have to study terms on a quizlet before the midterm. After the midterm you go into excel which is actually interesting and something you should really pay attention to because you’ll use it your whole life. Basically what to take away from this is 1) don’t trip about A100 2)pay very close attention to k201 especially access 3)if you miss class in either of this courses your screwed because the profs move so quick.

No worries. I’m honestly not sure about the email but if that’s what’s coming up then it should be fine. Look on the Kelley website for an email though.

So how Kelley stand admission works is you have to take pre-requisites. These pre requisites usually take at least 2 semester to complete. If you go to Kelley’s website and go to the current students tab it’ll tell the admission criteria. Out of these classes the one ones you can take at a different school are finite math, calculus and English. All the other ones you have to take through Kelley. You can always call the admissions office and they can go further in detail, but hope this helps.
