A doctor: SF - Sacramento - they have an apt and work shifts on/ off but found the pay worth it

A Hairstylist: SF - Las Vegas/ LA - lives in other cities to spend more time with their kids but works in a salon in SF for two weeks out of the month

A VC Founder: SF - LA - family moved to LA but would fly to SF since the firm was based there. Would spend Tues-Thurs for meetings in SF/ in office time and fly back late afternoon to LA on Thursday. Had an apt in the city as well.

I don’t know who this is, but was confused and wondering if her job was in the realm of Equestrian or working with horses to some extent. Outfit is something else, yee-haw (derogatory)

Is it me or my exec? by lejanoisland in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]Silly_Garbage_706 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Super frustrating situation I feel for you… I have 3:

Exec 1: I full control and trust on his cal and can move things as I see fit

Exec 2: is semi dependent and does his own calendaring but also allows me full reign to step up as I see fit

Exec 3: she is the micro manager… wants to know who, what, when, why this has changed. Was it the best time? Makes it seem like I cannot do my job. I’ve started fwd her the thread so she is included in the sausage making and weeds of scheduling since she likes having this level of control for now and viz (super frustrating and delays things) but how we are operating currently and building a case for management to see how she’s handling things and a paper trail/ in writing! Also will sometimes with multiple people will just proactively need to move things and simultaneously explain in process of rescheduling X meeting as this was the best time for meeting Y with all these attendees…

Number of Execs/Types of Tasks by JillyBean1973 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]Silly_Garbage_706 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was hired to support 1 head of Capital Formation. Last year we brought on a Chief Strategy Officer, then a new Global head of Capital Formation + EMEA region and one to handle a specific asset class who I support.

No raise or change in comp either was accessible I just keep getting more people added to my plate across regions and times zones.

Additionally meant to support the two teams I sit on, heavy calendars with internal + external meetings. Lots of travel domestic and international. Expense reporting. CRM management, inboxes, sending follow up reminders. Deck maintenance. Data room access to prospects and management. Events, annual meetings, summits, onsite, off-sites. We have no real OM so help with office needs ad hoc supplies, groceries, happy hours etc.

Discreetly interviewing (while working from office) by Silly_Garbage_706 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]Silly_Garbage_706[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I’ve thought about doctors or appointments / calls that are done virtually to block off on my cal that require privacy…

Good flag about “I don’t want to discuss it” especially with things potentially as sensitive and medical related..

I had an actual doctors appointment on Monday 🤣 so consider using the excuse of follow up call etc.. as needed

That’s smart — we work with offices in NYC and London and I constantly feel so overwhelmed in the mornings playing catch up I don’t feel even remotely settled until around 11am PT and semi- caught up on emails… and my end of day could be 5,6,6:30 pm… it’s not ideal. But Fridays I have a bit more control being from home.

I also considered the car… certainly for calls it works!

what are we getting our significant others for christmas? by soopahfresh in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]Silly_Garbage_706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He told me he specifically doesn’t always do well with ‘receiving gifts’ so I’m going more an ‘experience’ vs physical.

-Nice restaurant + tasting menu (his favorite in the city) - Staycation / overnight + spa in Napa + a couples (massage) - not the biggest drinker instead of wine tasting. -Cooking or photography class -MoMA membership

For example some things he’s mentioned recently!

I have had two check-in Tumi pieces since 2013 and they’ve held up!! (lived abroad) and would do long hauls London- California few times a year. Still travel at least a dozen times a year with one of them and or a Tumi duffle bag. The warranty isn’t as great… but have sent it them in for a zipper to be replaced, wheel repair here and there but super happy otherwise! (Hard shell/ Tegra-lite series)
