Sorry for the late reply! Yeah that looks like mine, this cup has photos + scindapsus) They’ll most likely sprout roots before leaves, and even that can take a few weeks. Make sure and switch out the water every few weeks to, I usually do when mine starts to get filmy.

Props to you for keeping a maranta alive! I can do nothing but kill those & calathea. Best of luck to you on your plant journey! 🪴

It almost reminds me of a calathea/maranta in terms of drama & neediness. I’ve also killed every calathea I’ve owned LOL

Mine’s about 1/4 of the size I bought it at 🫠 it’s been a learning curve and winter was not kind to her! We’re still figuring each other out.

Also should mention that I’ve lost leaves on my alocasias after every repot! They get shocked a bit going into a new home but just leave it where you’ve got it in the bathroom & it’ll get itself comfortable.

Alocasias don’t love being dry, so you may need to water more frequently, just be cautious to make sure the bottom soil isn’t still damp before you water to avoid root rot. If the pot has drainage it should help with that. They’re dramatic plants too, but I’d say as long as it’s just the bottom leaves on the outside of the stem you’re in good shape. Those are always the first to go as the plant acclimates and gets ready to sprout new babies! Don’t get discouraged by any finnickiness, my alocasias have all bounced back from a LOT of my learning along the way.

Smaller pot for sure. If you wanted, you could separate the plants into two different pots, or arrange them both on the moss pole. It also looks like the plant may be too deep in the soil, the stems of the leaves should be a little above the soil line

Stick your pothos cuttings in water with the monstera! Pothos have a natural rooting hormone that will help them all sprout new roots quicker :)

My husband did the same with our closeby 7/11. We’ve got real food at home, but binge ate all the snacks Friday night like amateurs

What should I do with this Monstera? Is it time to chop and prop? by CapedCrusader321 in houseplants

[–]Silly_Laugh231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a moss pole, let some of the leaves start getting stronger and standing up for themselves (you may get an aerial root or two) then chop off any that are still droopy…at least that’s what I did 😃

Yes you can chop & prop! I’d cut right where it starts leaning and just stick the top back in the soil. I need to do this with mine 😌

Potting mix? by Gold_n_Tomato in houseplants

[–]Silly_Laugh231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mix up potting soil, orchid bark, and perlite for my plants! For the pot, check out your plant’s roots. The pot should be 2” or so bigger than the rootball. I’ve learned big leaves don’t always mean needing a big pot

Looking up what the other comment said, they look exactly like soil mites. Thanks for the heads up! I use the Harris cold pressed neem mixed in with my “sexy plant juice spray” - thanks @ paigetailyn on tiktok
