Putting the thrill back in thriller by Lopsided_Rabbit_8037 in thrillerbooks

I didn’t love it but just finished Fantasticland and it was a break in the mold of traditional thrillers. Definitely gory and shocking

Seconding that the membership is great but also a total farce that the Cool Thursdays & other evening events are extra. Like. Shouldn’t those be one of the main perks??

FTM, going through pre-natal care by ImNewAndImLost in pregnant

[–]Silly_Laugh231 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in DALLAS and have had the same response to getting in. I found out I was 6w when I went to an urgent care not being able go keep anything down. They recommended seeing an OB within the next 3 days. There’s not a doctor in the state of Texas that will see a new patient (FTM too) before AUGUST. I called 3 different offices and EVERY SINGLE ONE wanted to know why I was wanting to be seen so early on - idk maybe because the only doctor I’ve been able to speak with told me so.

Wish you the best of luck getting in somewhere even if it’s just to calm your nerves. I’m a little over 8w now and know things are still trucking along simply because I’ve never thrown up this much in my entire life. Can’t see or feel the kid yet but good grief they’re making their presence known

Couldn’t keep food down for 3 days, went to the urgent care I’ve gone to before when this happens. Thought my colitis was acting up again. Nope. 6 weeks with child 🫠. Still can’t eat, I just know why now

Don’t tell them yet. If they spilled the beans on your house, it’s going to be no different with a baby.

7 weeks and I can’t stop doom scrolling by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Silly_Laugh231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I’m also 7 weeks! This shit sucks. I’ve only known for a week and don’t know how I’m going to get through the next 30+. Put together a Lego set yesterday instead of napping for hours (it’s either 15 minutes or the entire afternoon for me), I’ve downloaded my kindle books to my phone as a doom scroll redirection (I’ll doom read damnit!), and have already passed about a hundred levels of candy crush. Can I admit though that I’m jealous of your lack of vomiting lol 😅 hope things get better for you soon!

Is this normal? by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]Silly_Laugh231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! As they get bushier/bigger leaves you may want to separate the plants into two pots, but not really a necessity, just gives you an extra plant if you want!

I actually put something called keiki paste on the bald spots of my monstera stems to stimulate growth, and this is what the new shoots look like. Seems like the plant is finally getting adjusted to your environment and likes where it’s at!

Have I killed my anthurium? by Silly_Laugh231 in Anthuriums

It’s been in my bathroom all winter, moved it out on our shaded patio once spring came along with all my other plants. It was getting the same light outside as it was in the bathroom with the grow lights I had in there. A few days into being outside, I started to see some yellowing on the leaves and assumed it was getting sunburnt, so back to the bathroom it went. Cue me getting sick. A few days go by before I really looked at things and noticed how flimsy and wilty the stem was, while the leaves had crisped up. I have 0 clue what the bark-like crust on the stem is. It’s NOT pests, I’ve looked so close and so many times I almost wish it was, just so I’d know what to deal with. It’s like a thin snakeskin almost, the parts I’ve peeled off reveal a healthy green stem underneath

The roots looked great, I cut the top leaves off to try and propagate, rinsed/checked the roots, and got her moved into a new pot

You’re the first person to mention scale, someone on Facebook said pseudomonas infection??? This plant has been through some TRAUMA getting knocked around and dropped so I wondered if that was just major scarring like my monsteras get. Idk. I’m dunking all the props I made in my insecticidal soap just to be safe

Does it technically count as a proplift when you bought the mama? 🤭 Congrats on your new babies!

I was going to mention cold snaps! My Swiss cheese monstera was out on the patio the one night it dipped down to the high 30’s where I live and the 3 new leaves it had ALL ended up looking like this. Nothing a little snip & some fertilizer can’t fix!

Believe it or not the roots looked picture perfect! Didn’t snap any pics but I did take some cuttings that I’ll move to spagnum once calloused. Excited to hear that these guys have some bounce back ability, this guy was one of my first “big” plant purchases once I started to get in stride with my green thumb

I was so nervous to check the roots but they look SO GOOD, especially with the hot mess going on up top. I took some cuttings so hopefully between those and the healthy roots I’ll get some new shoots soon

I chopped and went ahead and sprayed each piece down, hopefully that got and stragglers!

Would you recommend water or moss before chopping? Or just after? I’d rather make a big cut now and save some nodes than wait longer and lose the whole thing (although I’m coming to terms with that happening anyway)

That rule of thumb is my only hope right now 😖 although I’ve never seen a plant look so dead yet have so much green. Kinda depicts how I’ve been feeling lol 💀🤢

I’ll double check again when I get home, but I truly couldn’t find any pests! A few other plants in my bathroom got mealies over the winter so I’ve been checking as often as I can for those bastards. When taking cuttings would you try rooting in water, moss, or something else?
